Jammu, Aug 1: State Government and Gujarat State Petronet Ltd have initi-ated the ground survey in Udhampur district for laying the Bhatinda-Jammu – Srinagar Gas Pipeline.

The district administration has started the interdepartmental joint inspection to ascertain the feasibility of the two routes proposed for laying the pipeline, an official statement said.

The survey, it said, has been start-ed to expedite the land acquisition as decided in a meeting chaired by Min-

ister for CAPD last month followed by a series of meetings between district administration and GSPL.

DDC, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary briefed the officers for route survey and single window clear-ance for permission by all the departments.

Abdul Hamid Consultant, GSPL, presented a resume of the route map, distribution network, employment to be generated in district, advanced technology of construction ensuring

minimal interference with environ-ment, relocation of utilities and other aspects of the project.

It was decided in the meeting that joint technical inspection will be

started on August 4 by GSPL and departments of Revenue, For-ests, Social Forestry, Wildlife, NHAI, PWD, PDD, PHE and

other organisations for finali-sation of route, distribution

network, storage points and other vital infrastructure of the Gas Pipeline project in district.

Govt starts ground survey for Srinagar Gas Pipeline

PTOs not happy with Hajj quota to JKSrinagar, Aug 1: All JK Hajj and Umra Tour Operators Associa-tion Saturday condemned the union Ministry's Hajj Policy terming it against the interests of PTOs.

In a hand out issued here the operators said their association was registered with MEA, GOI up to 2017 and thus deserved the regular Hajj quota up to 2017 without any break.

They said as per a notifica-tion issued by Ministry of Exter-nal Affairs, GOI on July 31 “all the PTOs in JK have been allot-ted quota of 450 seats only out of 36000 for the state.”

They said the all India PTOs including those in Delhi, Kerala, Maharashtra, Hyderabad and Gujarat have been granted more quota than JK state, which is a Muslim majority state.

“MEA press release point number 7 dated April 21, 2014 states that the allocation of Hajj seats to the qualified PTOs in each category will be done every year on the basis of overall quota of PTO seats specified in the annual India -Saudi Arabia Bilateral Hajj agreement and the number of qualified PTOs in each catego-ry,” the association in a handout said, adding, “This year the Hajj quota has been made through draw of lots for a random selec-tion of PTO for allocation of Hajj quota which is absolutely wrong and unacceptable to all PTOs (sic).”

As per the MEA policy, they said any PTO who will get quota during one year i.e. 2015 will not get the quota in next year 2016. “This is absolutely injustice and wrong.” GKNN
