Safety Requirements1.1

Power Connection

Before powering up your Mailing System, please check to ensure the system meets yourlocal AC voltage requirements. For more information on power specifications please referto the plates at the back of each System component.

• To reduce the risk of fire, only use the power cord suppliedwith your Mailing System.

• Do not use this product on a wet floor or near water.

• Your system should be connected with a 19vdc - 2.6A limitedpower source.

• In case of liquid spillage, disconnect the external power supplyfrom the wall plug and proceed then with cleaning up the spill.

• Use an outlet that is easily accessible. As the power supply cord is the equipmentdisconnecting device, do not route the power cord between pieces of furniture orover sharp edges.

• Avoid using outlets controlled by wall switches or shared by other equipment.

• Make sure there is no strain on the power supply cord.

General Safety• Before using your Mailing System, please read the operating instructions included.

• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury, follow standard safety precautionsfor office equipment when using your Mailing System.

• To avoid damaging vital system components, only use Neopost/Canada Post approvedsupplies (ink, tape, cleaners...).

Follow the additional safety precautions below:

• Do not place lit candles, cigarettes, cigars, etc. on the Mailing System.

• When removing jammed material, avoid using excessive force to prevent personalinjury and damaging any system components.

• When lifting covers, wait for all parts to stop moving before placing your hands nearthe Feeder Path or Print Head.

• To prevent overheating do not block the ventilation openings or try to stop the powersupply fans.

• Do not remove fastened covers as they protect users from potentially hazardousparts that should only be accessed by a Neopost Service Representative.

Your Mailing System contains moving parts. Keep fingers, long hair, jewellery, neck ties,and loose clothing away from the mail path at all times.

StepA–AssemblingyourMailingSystem

DO NOT CONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE SYSTEMBEFORE INSTRUCTED.

YOU MAY DAMAGE YOUR EQUIPMENT.

A1 – Installing the Postage Meter (PSD)

The Meter contains processing activing and postage funds information.

Open the PSD cover located under theMailing System.Turn the Mailing System on its back.

Insert the PSD into the Mailing System, bypositioning it vertically, with the contactsdown and facing to the rear, and the labelstowards you.

Close the PSD Cover.

Remove the PSD from its packaging.

Write down the PSD No: (N33xxxxxx).Youwill need it at step C .

A2 – Removing the Cardboard Wedge

Inside the Mailing System, a cardboard wedge is protecting the printing head carriage fromdamage during shipping.

Remove the foam block.

Remove the wedge to allow the print headcarriage to move.

Close the Mailing System Front Cover.Open the Mailing System Front Cover bypulling the cover towards you while applyingslight pressure to right side of the cover.

A3 – Installing the Weighing Platform

Remove the Weighing Platform from the packaging.

Stow the cable in the compartment providedand place the Weighing Platform on top ofthe Mailing System.

Connect the Weighing Platform cable to theMailing System.

To avoid weighing errors, make sure the Weighing Platform isclear when activating the system.

if __ __g is displayed while using your Mailing System:• Press Menu,• Select 2 and 2 again,

to zero the Weighing Platform.

StepB– Setting Up Connections1.4

In order to load funds, download rates, and support your Mailing System, you must set-upa connection between your Mailing System and the E-Services Server.

This can be done in one of the following ways:

• Your Mailing System communicates withthe server directly through an applicationinstalled on your PC (computer) or laptop.

• The PC Meter Link application allows youto use the broadband connection throughyour PC's High Speed internet connection.

• This application allows for fast, seamlesspostage rate updates, funds downloads;and software updates to be performed re-motely and automatically.

Connection Set-up using PC Meter Link

Please do not connect your Mailing System to a USB port onyour PC before installing PC Meter Link software.

The installation software will notify you when to connect your MailingSystem to your PC.

a) Installing and connecting PC Meter Link

Please close all running applications before installing the PC Meter Link application.

1. Insert the installation CD in the CD drive of your computer.

The CD Installation wizard appears.

2. Select your country in the list, then click OK .

3. Choose Run PC Meter Link software installation .

4. Follow the instructions in the wizard as they appear on your screen. During theinstallation process, you will be asked to connect your Mailing System.

Follow the instructions below to connect your Mailing System to your PC.

Connecting your Mailing System to your PC via USB

Plug the other end into a USB port on yourPC.

Plug one end of the USB cable suppliedinto your system.

Powering up your Mailing System

Only use the Power Supply Cord included with your Mailing System.

Remove the Power Supply and Power Cord from the packaging.

Plug the other end of the Power SupplyCord into a wall socket.

Plug the female connector of the PowerSupply Cord into the back of your system.

Now that your Mailing System is powered up, follow the instructions in the PC MeterLink installation wizard to complete the set-up.

A PC Meter Link icon will appear in your system tray, indicating theconnection status of your PC and Mailing System (See yourOperator Manual for details).

b) Configuring your E-Services Connection using PC Meter Link

The installation wizard will help you to configure the connection of your Mailing System tothe E-Services Server.

Follow the instructions below to configure the connection to E-Services using the PC MeterLink application.

Note that the installation process restarts from the beginning if you power off before theprocess is completed.

Check the connection status of the PC Meter Link application beforeinstalling your Mailing System. Both links to your system and to theInternet must be active, otherwise the installation process cannotbe completed.

An active link is indicated by a green solid line

After powering-up, the following screen will appear on your Mailing System Control Panel.

Press to continue. Press to start the installation pro-cess.

Connection Set-Up using a LAN

a) Connecting with LANRemove the LAN Cable from the packaging.

If you encounter any difficulties in configuring the LAN connectionsettings, please refer to Connection Settings Section of the MailingSystem User Guide or contact our Customer Care Centre forassistance.

Connecting your Mailing System to the E-Services Server using the LAN cable

Plug one end of the LAN Cable into a LANor router jack.

Select a location for the Mailing Systemnear an Internet / LAN jack or router.

Your Mailing System is now connected toLAN.

Connect the other end of the LAN cable intothe LAN port.

Powering up your Mailing System

Only use the Power Supply Cord included with your MailingSystem.

Remove the Power Supply and Power Cord from the packaging.

Plug the other end of the Power SupplyCord into a wall socket.

Plug the female connector of the PowerSupply Cord into the back of your MailingSystem.

The system starts and launches the installation wizard automatically.

b) Configuring your E-Services Connection using LAN

The installation wizard is going to help you to configure the connection of your MailingSystem to the E-Services Server.

Note that the installation process restarts from the beginning if power is turned off beforethe process is completed.

A moment after powering-up, the ControlPanel of the system displays the first instal-lation screen.

Press to continue.

Press to start the installation pro-cess.

Step C – Activating your MailingSystem

These screens will not appear on your Mailing System User Consoleif you use the PC Meter Link application. The Postage ServerConnection screen will appear on your PC.

C2 – Registering your Mailing System

A registration PIN code must be entered into the system to activate your system. This PINcode can be found on the Quick Reference Guide that is included with your Meter.

Once the PIN code is entered your System will be activated.

C3 – Adding Postage Funds

You can add Funds to your Mailing System anytime by completing the steps listed below.

In order to complete your transaction, connection of your Mailing System to Neopost'sPostage Server is required.

Test that a Funds Transaction can becompleted, request a small amount ofpostage to be added first. We recommendan initial Funds value of $10 for your firsttransaction.

Press key [C] .

Type 10 and press .

Press to continue.

Press to add postage Funds.

Press to add funds later.

C4 – Connecting to the E-services Server

E-Services are a set of value added services that help you maximize the full potential ofyour Mailing System.

To access your E-Services data log on to myneopost at myneopost.ca.

C5 – Installing the Ink Cartridge

Installing the Ink Cartridge

Follow the steps below to install your Ink Cartridge.

The following screen will appear:

Note: Do not press until the InkCartridge is installed.

The Ink Cartridge Carriage will move intothe replacement position.

Open the Ink Cartridge slot by pulling theblue lever towards you and turning it to theright.

Open the Front Cover by pulling it towardsyou by the upper left corner.

Insert the Ink Cartridge into the slot. TheInk Cartridge Connector must match the setof connecting pins located on the carriage.

Remove the protective film strip from theInk Cartridge Printing Head.

You can now press to continue.

Hold the cartridge in place, turn the BlueLever back to the left until the cartridge issecured, then close the cover.

Ink Cartridge Alignment

If you want to skip or to exit the alignment

process, press to go to . Press to start the alignment pro-cess.

Your Mailing System requires the Ink Car-tridge to be aligned each time you replacethe Cartridge. This ensures a high qualityimpression is printed every time.

The pattern showed above is printed.

Check for what letter, vertical lines horizon-tally match the best. In this example, it is Clines.

Insert the blank envelope into the systemas shown above.

If necessary, repeat the alignment stepsuntil F lines are aligned.
