WeLCome to tHe 43rd annuaL FaLL ProduCtion saLe!Another good year of runoff filling the dugouts, timely rains giving us grass and hay, along with the upward movement of cattle prices has given everyone in the industry a reason to feel good and enjoy their hard work.

It has been a gratifying year here at BBSF, with some of our breeding decisions having such a positive influence throughout the industry. Coalition being name Senior Champion in Denver, and Wrangler placing 2nd in class to the Grand Champion were definite highlights. The Admiral sire group has been one of the top averaging strings at the Medicine Hat Bull Sale. Commercial heifers purchased from Happy Valley Ranch sired by BBSF bulls were named Grand Champion Open Commercial Heifers at the Medicine Hat Pen Show. One of those females went on to be Reserve Grand Champion Commercial Female at Bonanza. Erica’s two-year old was Reserve Champion Purebred Female at Bonanza, and Lot 1, Youngman 23Y, was Grand Champion at the renowned Hardisty Field Day.

On behalf of everyone at the BBSF and Bar-RZ outfits, we hope you can be with us on November 15th. Enjoy a meal and the fellowship of other cattlemen while making your selections to enhance your breeding program for whatever market you target.

Herd HeaLtHThe 2011 calves received Vista Once SQ and Vision 7 Somnus with SPUR in the spring as well as a booster in the fall. All sale cattle were treated with Iveron in the fall. The bred heifers were pregnancy examined on September 16th.

Youngman is one of the most exciting calves ever born at BBSF. He has the shape, depth, and length that we all are breeding for. His genetic make-up couldn’t be stronger. His sire, Coalition, was Denver Sr. Champion, and has been one of the most talked about and admired bulls in recent years. His mother is a moderate framed, heavy milking, super uddered Federation daughter that has raised herd bulls in the past. 23Y was Grand Champion bull at the recent Hardisty Field Day, where 188 calves were shown. This is your opportunity to be part of a great one. Terms to be Announced

This calf has been one of my favourites from birth. Yamaha is the spitting image of his sire. He has a real breed character head, which gives him that herd bull presence. His sire, Wrangler, has done an excellent job of breeding with all his bull calves being offered in the sale. He also proved he can compete in the show ring as he was 2nd in his class to the Denver Champion. The Kashmir cow family has been strong performers, with last year’s feature heifer calf selling to Coppertone Farms coming from this line.

Youngster is one of those calves that was always good, but is slowly rising to the top. He is a real stout, deep Coalition son that has a real strong maternal background.
