for ideas for faith homeschooling. Please remember to continue your regular contributions to the parish during this crisis. The bills still have to be

paid! You can mail checks to 440 NE Ash St, Pullman, WA 99163, set up online payments at: https://www.sacredheartpullman.org/online-giving, or set up “Bill Pay” with your bank or credit union.

Glass Recycling: Clean glass bottles and jars will still be collected for recycling in the parking lot from 4 pm Saturday, May 30, through 1 pm Sunday, May 31.

Please bring your glass in boxes and put them in the trailer in the church parking lot.

Parish Directory Fr. Steve has a new idea, which the pastoral council and staff are excited about. After the weather warms a little more, Fr. Steve and a couple other parish photographers using good cameras with zoom lenses will take photos of the people in our parish households outside on their porches (or whatever spot works). This will be a way to connect with parishioners at a distance as well as get good photos (we’ve received less than a dozen photos by email and 2/3 of those are not high enough resolution). We will figure out an online sign-up (We can help you by email or phone if needed). Watch the bulletin and website for details!

Drive-in Mass for Pentecost 10 am May 31

Everyone is invited to Pentecost Mass in the Village Centre Theater parking lot.

You may bring chairs to place in front of your vehicle, which will be one space apart from others. If you get out of your car, and if you receive Communion, we are requiring a cloth face covering. All ministers distributing Communion will wear them. If you don't have them, you can get disposable masks from the Knights who are directing parking. To receive Communion, please sanitize your hands, stand by your car, hold your hand out flat, and wait until the minister has moved on to the next vehicle before pulling your mask up to consume the host.

The Mass will be live-streamed on Facebook at 10 am and posted on YouTube as usual (see links below). There is no 8:30 am Mass on Pentecost.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit Come, Holy Spirit Breathe into me Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may be all holy. Move in me, Holy Spirit, that my work too, may be holy. Attract my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is holy.

Strengthen me, Holy Spirit, that I may defend all that is holy. Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen.

Can't remember what Pentecost is? Well for starters, it's this Sunday, and if you want a little more info on this celebration of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of the Church, take a look at Busted Halo's two minute video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5tr4pqWIo4

Make a Pentecost Pinwheel. If you come to the parking lot Mass, bring them and let the wind (from the Holy Spirit) move the pinwheel. Here is a link to an easy one: www.auntannie.com/FridayFun/Pinwheel/

Social Justice Corner

We are faced not with two separate crises, one environmental and the other social, but rather with one complex crisis which is both social and environmental. Strategies for a solution demand an integrated approach to combating poverty, restoring dignity to the excluded, and at the same time protecting nature. Pope Francis (5/24/15, Laudato Si’, no. 139)

Look for the Liturgy of the Hours at www.sacredheartpullman.org, click on the praying hands to get the prayers for that day and time. eBreviary is providing this

free as long as the COVID-19 crisis lasts. Links to directions for making masks for the hospital, vet school and personal use are on our homepage (above).

You may still bring plastic film (not hard plastic) to the boxes at the base of the stairs and classroom hallway.

Please continue to save ink cartridges, empty toner, and worn out markers. You can bring library books in when church activities resume.

If you or someone you know needs help getting groceries or other items, or needs meals, please contact us: Sue McNamara at [email protected], or Mary

Sutherland at [email protected].

Our Helping Hands Group will deliver items to those who cannot go out, and meals to households where they are needed, including when new babies are born. (They will be put on the porch). Thank you to our volunteers. If you can help, please contact Sue or Mary above. Our St. Francis Guild has money available to help Pullman residents with food, utilities, and rent (to some extent).

Please respond to the 2020 Census if you haven't already done so. You can respond by mailing back the paper questionnaire sent to your home or by

going to http://www.2020census.gov or calling 844-330-2020 (Eng.), 844-468-2020 (Span.). The Census “will determine Congressional representation, inform hundreds of billions in federal funding each year, and provide data that will impact communities for the next decade” (Census 2020 website). See the link to 50 Ways Census Data is Used on our homepage, www.sacredheartpullman.org.

There are still census jobs available in Pullman, mostly for enumerators, for $16/hour. The job does not make people ineligible for food assistance programs. They go to residences and assist people who haven't completed the census yet. Right now the plan is to knock and drop due to COVID 19. Any PPE (masks, gloves, etc) are provided by the Census. All applications are online at: 2020census.gov/jobs

Do you know that May is National Foster Care Month? Do you have a calling to serve the fostering community? Have you thought about fostering or would you like to support those who are fostering in your community?

There are approximately 9,000 children in foster care in Washington. You can show grace to the children in care and their foster/adoptive/respite parents through supply drives, providing childcare for support groups and/or donating to FosteringWA. More foster parents are always needed too!

Please go to our website at www.fosteringwa.org call 1.888.KIDS.414, or email [email protected] to learn more. Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families
