MeganI grew up in a small town, going to church every Sunday. My family ate dinner every night at the table where we would talk about our

day. My parents were married for 25 years before my dad passed away from cancer in 2001. My mom has since remarried to a kind, quiet man. I am a middle child, with an older sister and a younger sister. My sisters are very close to me and we see each other often. My older sister has 2 boys who are 8 and 9. Greg and I are the guardians of my nephews if something should ever happen to my sister and her husband. We love my nephews and get to spend a lot of time with them. My younger sister works for a nursing home and rehabilitation center and lives about 10 minutes from me. She brings her dog, Evy, over every Friday for dinner and to hang out.

When I was young, we played in a lot of sports such as softball, volley ball and swim team. I also took piano lessons through high school and played the saxophone in the high school marching band. I continued to swim, play volleyball, was on the snow ski team, and played a year of tennis in high school. I also was a lifeguard and swim instructor at the local pool. Today, I enjoy swimming, walking, reading, board games, playing cards, cooking and planting flowers. I love all kinds of music from Elvis, rap, hip hop, alternative and some country music. I also enjoy seeing broad way plays and musicals.

GregI grew up in a small town in upstate New York. No, this isn’t the big city, but a rural, small community. My mom worked in small office jobs and my dad is a retired math teacher. Both sets of grandparents were farmers. I grew up with one older brother, Chris. We were close even though he was 4 years older. He has 2 boys, Leo and Gus. They live in Vermont so I don’t get to see them as often as I like, but we keep in touch through Facetime and visit as often as we can.

The neighborhood I grew up in had lots of kids. Because we lived in upstate New York, there was always snow to play in. My favorite memories would be playing hockey in the street with the neighborhood kids. The plow trucks would come by and see us playing in the street. They would skip salting the road right in front of our house so that we could continue to play. My mom would come home from work and would slide all the way into our driveway! My dad coached basketball for the high school. Because my dad was the coach for the varsity basketball team, I was the ball boy for all the games. All through high school, I played soccer, basketball and baseball.

Megan’s thoughtsabout our relationshipGreg is the type of guy who everyone loves. Greg is also very good with kids. He worked in a daycare all through college and after, for 3 years, was a nanny for a baby boy and 2-year-old girl. I knew right away that he would be a great dad. Our nephews adore him! It is so sweet to hear them say they want him to come visit so that they can play soccer together. The boys wouldn’t see the new Star Wars movie without Uncle Greg! Greg is also so helpful around the house. We split house cleaning, dishes and laundry. He also plays with our dog, Pepper, all the time. He has so much energy and is so fun to be around. He always has something witty to say that usually makes me laugh. Greg and I like to do fun stuff for our birthdays. Instead of gifts, we save our money to go on vacation or go to sporting events. Greg is also gentle, warm and caring. He takes great pride in his work and has great relationships with all of his customers. I am excited that Greg will be a stay-at-home dad so that our child will not have to attend daycare. He has so much experience with babies and kids, our kids will definitely get a head start, will be loved, cared for and safe. I think I knew I would marry Greg after 2 weeks of dating. He is my best friend. I can tell him anything and he can always make me feel better.

Greg’s thoughtsabout our relationshipMegan is the love of my life. She is kind, warm-hearted, fun to be around and we always have fun together. Every night when she gets home from work, I don’t know who is more excited to see her-me or Pepper (our dog)! We have many common interests such as travel, spending time with family and friends, playing cards and movies. We’ve been to many baseball, football and hockey games. We’ve taken vacations to Myrtle Beach, Cancun, Florida, New York, Las Vegas and Vermont. We’ve also taken cruises. Megan is the most genuine and thoughtful person I have met. She is always thinking of others either through donations or volunteering. She will be a great mom. I love seeing her holding babies, playing with kids and playing with Pepper. She’s also smart, funny and a good cook! She has these little quirks such as collecting kitchen gadgets, holiday decorations and garden flags. I like to tease her about it when I get the chance. I also like to tease her about being an IU fan. We make sure that we’re together every time IU and Wisconsin play, no matter what the sport. I was glad I could take her to her first Cubs’ game, before they were good!

Home and CommunityWe live in a 3-bedroom house in a small addition. Most of the houses are occupied by young couples or young families. Many of the houses have pets. It’s a great place to walk dogs, ride bikes and raise kids. We are a short drive away from stores and restaurants and a local pool. We have a private back yard with enough room to enjoy our deck and play Frisbee with our dog, Pepper. Our home has 2 ½ bathrooms-plenty of room for kids! Our neighbors are also our friends. We live next to a single woman, a young family with 2 young girls and a newly-wed couple. We help each other out with anything from needing sugar to letting our dogs out during lunch. Our school system has very high rankings and

provides many opportunities for kids to grow academically and explore their interests and skills.

Why Adoption? We have been trying to have kids for quite some time. After a year of trying on our own, Megan went to her doctor. We tried several months on Clomid and Megan had several tests to see if it was her hormones or if she had tubal problems. Nothing seemed to be wrong. Megan’s OB GYN recommended that Greg be tested. It was determined his sperm counts were low, but the doctor was hopeful this could be fixed through surgery. Unfortunately, surgery did not improve his counts. We decided to try donor sperm which also required Megan

to take hormone drugs. Not only were the inseminations unsuccessful, but the hormone drugs made Megan very sick. Megan had always felt a calling from God to adopt and now she knew that this was God’s plan all along. Our family and friends have been very supportive. In fact some of our friends have grown their families through adoption and are very excited about our adoption plans.

Thank you for considering us!
