ORT is THE Jewish organization meeting the world’s
educational needs since 1880. ORT America supports
World ORT, whose innovative educational framework
enables thousands of youth and young adults to
develop skills for careers in an increasingly higher-
tech society. With optimal teaching environments and
quality instruction, ORT spans the socio-economic
divide, and graduates of its programs embark on
paths to success. Thanks to the generosity of our
donors, ORT shapes the world for a better future.
“I never wanted to learn and was thrown out of school in 8th grade. Here I acquired my values and got things that were missing in my neighborhood, where people were always fighting. If I had not ended up here, I would be like my friends: Half are in prison. I never used to believe in my-self, but now I do, and I know I can achieve things that have never even crossed my mind.”

Trish and Mark Adler have an impressive commitment to the Cleveland Jewish Community, to Israel, and to education. Their dedication to improving the lives of others took root at the University of Pennsylvania where they met.
Mark has been a dedicated leader in local ORT leadership for over 15 years. In 2005, he received ORT’s Sadie and Maurice Friedman Leadership Award and has since served in various positions on the Executive Committee. Mark is also a member of the Board of the Mandel JCC and a former Board member of The Temple-Tifereth Israel.
Trish serves on the Executive Committee of the Jewish Family Service Association and is the Co-Chair of JFSA’s Families at Risk Advisory Committee. Trish was among the pioneers of the Cleveland Jewish community’s response to domestic violence and helped found key programs that serve over 1,200 greater Cleveland adults and teens annually. JFSA awarded Trish the Danzig Award for Lay Leadership and the Anne C. Schwartz Leadership Award, both honoring her innovative contributions in the area of domestic violence prevention and JFSA’s KNOW ABUSE™ teen dating violence.
Trish formerly served on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.
Mark and Trish are the proud parents of two adult daughters, Samantha and Shelby.
Trish and Mark have chosen to designate funds raised in their honor to the renovation of the Kfar Silver Youth Village, the newest addition to the World ORT Kadima Mada network of programs in Israel.
ORT – Northeast Ohio Region is honored to recognize Trish and Mark for their commitment to ORT and their community.

The Kfar Silver Youth VillageWorld ORT Kadima Mada (Science Journey) provides a critical life- line to students in the periphery of Israel through its educational network of youth villages and community schools. Here, youth who have struggled in conventional schools can transform their lives. Thanks to Kadima Mada, these facilities offer innovative programs for youth to bolster their academic standing and become independent, productive adults.
Kfar Silver youth village in Hof Ashkelon is the newest member of the educational network. Known for its high standards and nurturing care, Kfar Silver is situated close to Gaza and was hit by a rocket in 2008. It is the first youth village to be fully managed by Kadima Mada, and its school for grades 7-12 serves over 600 day students and boarders, many new immigrants.
The village was established sixty years ago and named after Cleveland’s Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver. In addition to the school, its 370-acre site includes a swimming pool, agricultural and animal farms and dormitories. Two hundred students live in the village, many from challenging backgrounds. Kfar Silver is their last chance to overcome a troubled past and build a better future.
An extensive renovation is planned to revitalize the village and bring it to 21st century standards, including the refurbishment of dorms and classrooms, providing internet connectivity, installing smart classrooms and science, technology and computer labs, and expanding dorms to accommodate 290 boarders. Because of minimal government funding for Kfar Silver, contributions are needed for these improvements.
