Your Connection to What's Happening Around West
Clermont
September 4, 2019
Welcome to the second issue of the #WCconnects Newsletter for the 2019-20
School Year. Through this monthly communication, our goal is to bring you stories
and news about what makes our district unique—our awesome students and
amazing staff! We want to be your connection to what's happening around West
Clermont. We hope you enjoy!
This month we are featuring in our #WCconnects logo above Mr. Ed Dyer, the
Project Manager for the construction of the new Willowville and Summerside
Elementary Schools. Without Mr. Dyer's tireless work, these schools would not
have been possible! As always, he kept the projects "on time and under budget."
Mr. Dyer has worked for West Clermont for over 45 years! We are so lucky to have
Mr. Dyer in West Clermont!
If there are things you'd like to learn more about or people/organizations that we
should spotlight, just let us know!
Summerside and Willowville Ribbon Cuttings
On Thursday, August 22, 2019, we held a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony
at both Summerside Elementary and Willowville Elementary. Hundreds of
community members were on hand to witness this exciting event. These new
energy-efficient facilities are state-of-the-art in design and concept to maximize
the space for optimal learning for our students. Each ceremony allowed for an on-
stage event with officials as well as a student and staff ribbon-cutting.
Both schools will hold a community open house event on Saturday, September
21, 2019 from 9:00-11:00 AM. We hope to see you there!
Doing More With Less, While Also Faced With
Operational Needs
A major goal of the West Clermont School District is to be
responsible stewards of the community’s resources all while
maintaining a focus on giving students the best education
possible.
We have made a commitment to continually seek to
become better at what we do, which is providing a safe,
united, academically challenging environment where each
student achieves excellence.
The district has also made a commitment to continue to engage stakeholders. In
the spring the district began working with students, parents, community and staff
on updating the district’s vision, mission, values and educational priorities.
Additionally, the district is in an ongoing process of scheduling financial health
conversations for the first half of the 2019-20 school year. Adams said that she
believes it is of high importance to open the lines of communication to discuss
district finances, the 15 years of hard decisions it has had to make and its goals for
the future.

West Clermont Words: Excitement!
I’m thrilled to begin my second year as superintendent of West Clermont School
District. We have so much to celebrate together as a district!
There is both excitement and positive momentum in this district as we know our
academic outcomes are improving. Added to that, there is much to celebrate with
our facilities. We have two new state-of-the-art school buildings opening at the
Summerside and Willowville sites; we are in the process of renovating Clough Pike
Elementary school; and now we are (finally!) offering climate-controlled
environments in all of our buildings.
