A Shooting Experience This is a 3-day, intensive shooting experience. It is clearly aimed at developing your capture skills. While it’s inevitable that we’ll discuss photo and editing apps, this is not the focus of this workshop. Instead, our focus together will be on photography fundamentals – exposure, focus, white-balance, design, composition, light, color and subject matter.

Born and Raised I was born and raised on Cape Cod and I know it intimately - every nook and cranny.

I can’t tell you how many thousands of photographic hours I have invested in capturing the faces, places and spaces of this picturesque destination.

I’m going to pull back the curtain and reveal to you the BEST places to photograph on Cape Cod! As well as the BEST time of day to shoot at each location. It will be glorious!

Immersive Experience It will be 3 very full days of shooting - from sunrise (6:30am) to sunset (8:00pm) each day.

This is truly an immersive workshop - as we live, eat, breathe, and sleep iPhone photography.

There will NOT be any formal classroom instruction although I will talk-through, on location, how I shoot and approach subjects.

We’ll be able to cover 3-5 key locations per days. And have a solid 60-90 minutes per location to explore.

Workshop Costs The workshop cost, for the three days will be $395.00 (not including your travel, hotel and food costs which will be on your own).

If possible, I would prefer to limit the size of the workshop to only 10 persons (first come, first serve). At the very least, what each of you

should walk away with is a killer portfolio of mobile photography - including sunsets, sunrises, beach and landscapes, still life set-ups, street photography (Provincetown), landmarks, monuments, parks, portraits, resorts and architecture.

iPhone Only This workshop is for iPhone shooters only. Modest skills in shooting, apping and sharing.

Everything we do, we’ll do as a group. And try to work a little free-time in where possible.

I will be bringing you to the best places to shoot. And at optimum times. So you’ll have the opportunity to get some incredible photographs :-)

Logistics If you are arriving from out-of-town, you will fly into Boston, then rent a car and drive to Cape Cod (about 90 minutes from Boston).

You’ll want to come in on Wednesday afternoon/pm so that we’ll have 3 days to shoot together (Thursday, Friday, Saturday).

Even though there is no formal classroom instruction, fear not. There will be plenty of learning - from me and each other.

If you love to shoot and love watching others shoot…then this workshop is for YOU.

Accessories I will be bringing my full photo bag of gear and accessories so you can see what I use and how I use it.

Sleep is Over-Rated :-) Don’t plan on sleeping much. This is a ‘constant shooting’, immersive iPhone workshop with long days. We’ll be doing a lot of walking. And getting up early and going to bed late. Tiring…indeed, but also exhilarating! I can happily help provide you assistance in booking a hotel room that is conveniently located.

I will be staying in South Yarmouth (5 miles from Hyannis) and we’ll be staging out of SY for all our day trips.

Locations As part of this itinerary, we’ll be covering Hyannis, Chatham, Provincetown, Truro, Dennis, Brewster, Yarmouth, Barnstable, Harwich and more.

If you have a thing for shooting sunsets/sunrises, lighthouses, windmills, oceanscapes, fishing villages, boats, rivers, canals…come and join us.

No DSLRs. No Point ‘n’ Shoots. Once again, no DSLR’s. This is a dedicated and immersive iPhone Photography workshop with the goal to help you elevate your iPhone photography skills and attitude.

No need whatsoever to pack much at all, but do pack a sweater/sweatshirt for mornings and evenings. If you’re a loner…then we’ll cut you loose for more downtime. Otherwise, plan to get very comfortable and familiar with group dynamics.

Long Days If you’ve never participated in any sort of immersive workshop like this…it will be quite a ride.

I promise that it will be impossible for you not to return a better mobile photographer :-)

I have no intention of teaching you a string of tired and trite recipes or formulas of apping, workflow, and the like.

My plan here is to get you to think, feel and see like a photographer. The focus is on shooting.

In June on the Cape, the sun comes up around 6:00am and sets at 8:00pm so we’ll have lots and lots of time to cover picturesque subjects – from the Cape Cod canal to the tip of Provincetown.

This will be the sort of workshop where you’re NOT coming for the food or accommodations, but instead are coming to learn photography tips, techniques and best practices for shooting mobile.

Come Prepared If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably shoot lots and lots of photos. So come prepared with plenty of space on your phone, orperhaps even think about bringing an auxiliary hard drive to download to.

We will have wi-fi almost everywhere we are traveling to but Cape Cod wi-fi is spotty at best. Come prepared.

If it Rains... If it rains, we’ll grab umbrellas and shoot in the rain (remember to bring a light rain jacket just in case). If it pours, we’ll gather inside to discuss all things mobile photography :-)

Storytelling at Each Location For each location we’ll be shooting at, upon arrival, I will give a short 15 minute talk about how I would approach this subject/location photographically.

Then you’ll have plenty of time to shoot that subject/location…on your own.

Think about this workshop like this: For 3 days you will have complete and unconditional access to me :-)

You’ll be absolutely blown away with what you’ll come back with!!!

Anyone that follows me on Twitter (@photojack) or Instagram (@jackhollingsworth) knows that I’m a career veteran in photography. And also knows that my teaching mantra is and will continue to be “expose and compose”! This will be our focus here.

I do love photo apps. And we’ll have plenty of time to experiment with a handful of my favorites during our time together.

5 Common Mistakes We’ll be addressing, head on, the 5 most common mistakes among mobile photographers and what to do about each:• over-exposing• over-sharpening• over-saturating• over-apping• over-sharing

I believe, with all my heart that you’ll learn best by seeing and doing (not sitting in a classroom).

I plan on sharing everything I know about iPhone photography - to the very best of my ability.

No secrets. No holding back. No back peddling. I’ll give it to you like I see it so you can hold the torch up high for others to see and follow.

Cape Cod Is Busy Cape Cod is busy every month of the year. Hotel rooms (especially the inexpensive ones) are scarce, but there should be ample availability in June if you book now.If you are thinking about this workshop, then I would make a decision quickly and get busy making your hotel reservation (I can help you with this).

iPhone 6S & 6S Plus I shoot exclusively with an iPhone 6S & 6S Plus and strongly suggest you upgrade before coming, but it’s not necessary. I’m already spinning with what we’re going to do and cover. If you’re looking for an iPhone workshop that changes ‘everything’ for you…this is it!!

A Few Helpful Hints & Tips (from last 3 workshops)

1. Make sure you bring a credit card.

2. Make sure you bring cash each day (some places don’t take credit cards).

3. You can rent your own vehicle if you prefer not to travel with us in the van.

4. Bring along with you: • bottled water • comfortable walking shoes • hat • sunscreen

5. Most definitely bring some sort of external/extra battery for your phone. You’ll need it to shoot all day.

6. Be prepared to edit your 10 best shots and present them to the group at the end of our time together.

7. Best if you stay in the Dennis/Yarmouth area when making hotel reservations.

8. We stop a lot for coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts :-)

9. The workshop has an active Facebook page here so you can carry on the conversation with your peers.

10. I want everyone to download these apps before arriving:

• Camera+ • PicTapGo

11. I will also be teaching basic tips on shooting video with your iPhone.
