A word from Marie Jones, Vice-President of the Chaîne, inducting Officer at our Chapitre

Warm greetings to you all!

Without a doubt the Algarve is alluring with its golden beaches, scalloped bays,

sandy islands and deep blue sky. Its reputation as a ‘must go’ destination is

Europe, if not world, wide. But besides the wonderful scenery and weather the

region is also enticing for anyone with a passion for simple, lovingly prepared

food whether in Michelin-starred establishments or humble eateries.

Where better therefore to celebrate the ‘savoir vivre’ that is the essence of the

Chaîne des Rôtisseurs!

Joining our gastronomic association reaches beyond national boundaries as one becomes part of a truly

international brotherhood represented in over 70 countries. The high culture of the table with its fine

food and wine are important but it is the people, the members and their guests, who complete the

success of the Confrérie. Whether it is at a local, national or international level, the Chaîne brings

wonderful opportunities to travel and meet fellow members anywhere in the world.

Members of the Chaîne are united in friendship with the duty to respect and support each other. I can

assure that you will be warmly welcomed as fellow ‘Rôtisseurs’, just as the warmth of welcome in

Portugal is always assured.

I am looking forward to being with you in June. From the programme of events I know that we can all

look forward to a captivating Grand Chapitre full of ceremony and enjoyment.

Welcome to all!

As President of the Portuguese Chaîne, I have delegated full powers

for the important task of organising this Grand Chapitre International

2015 to my dear Friend Dr Jean Ferran, Chargé de Mission National,

Bailli Provincial, and also Bailli of the Algarve.

The quality is guaranteed from the start, and I have no doubt that it

will again be a great success, like all the events this region has

accustomed us to since the 1st Chapitre of Portugal which took place

in the Algarve in 1973

A challenge made harder, no doubt, by the current economic situation, by the remoteness of

the Algarve, and again by the time of year chosen. However, if we look more closely, we

quickly realise how easy it is to transform these difficulties into real advantages, to ensure the

presence of a large number of participants.

Having selected the most interesting areas of the Algarve for the tours and visits, and chosen

establishments of our professional Chaîne members with great worldwide recognition, we are

able to offer an exceptionally high level, otherwise impossible to achieve. Faro airport being

so close makes the distances smaller, both nationally and internationally

I hope to welcome you with the certainty that the Algarve will provide a Grand Chapitre of

high quality.

LE MENU !

The Chapitre will be based at Vila Vita Parc, near Armação de Pera, a luxury resort

and long standing member of the Chaîne, where the Gala Dinner will take place on

the Saturday night; of course you are welcome to extend your stay if you wish to

make the most of your visit. After all, the Algarve is also a golfer’s paradise!

Thursday, June 11th “A Soft Landing”

Welcome to a friendly dinner at the charming restaurant “O Leão de Porches”.

Friday, June 12th “The Real Algarve”

Morning: A private boat “cruise” to explore the nature reserve, bird sanctuary and

salt pans of the Ria Formosa, followed by

Lunch at restaurant “Estaminé” on Ilha Deserta (Desert Island) in the Ria.

Dinner will be at the traditional Algarvean restaurant “O Barradas”, near the old

Moorish capital of Silves, with the entertainment of a local “Fadista”.

Saturday, June 13th “A 4 Michelin Stars Experience”

A light “2 Michelin stars degustation lunch” on the terrace of Vila Joya, 22nd. “Best

Restaurant in the World” organised by the owner Joy Jung, Vice Chargée de

Mission and prepared specially for us by Chef Dieter Koschina, Vice Conseiller

Culinaire of the Algarve Bailliage.

Evening: Induction Ceremony, Cocktail and Gastronomic Dinner-Dance (black-tie)

at Vila Vita organised by the general manager Kurt Gillig, Bailli Honoraire of the

Algarve; Chef Hans Neuner, 2 Michelin stars, will be in charge of our dinner.

Sunday, June 14th “The Day After”

Farewell Brunch at Vila-Vita.
