Learning Objectives

All can identify some desert landforms and reflect on how they were formed.

Most can explain the processes of weathering and erosion.

Some can analyse how these landforms shape the landscape and characteristics of deserts.

What landforms do you find in deserts?

•And how do you think they were made?

•Do these landforms help scientists recreate what the landscape was like thousands or millions of years ago and if so how?

Watch ‘how earth made us’ clip!

Weathering and erosion in deserts

TASKS:

1. Write definitions in your book for weathering and erosion. With examples of both and pictures if it helps you to learn them. (see p29)

2. Draw a mind map to show the processes that happen in a desert. (look at Q1 p29)

3. Draw a table or another mind map to classify the landforms of the desert into those that were created by erosion and those that were created by deposition. (see p28)

Learning Objectives: RECAP!

All can describe the climatic conditions shared by all deserts and the global pattern to where deserts are found.

Most can explain the four types of desert using well constructed and labelled colour diagrams.

Some can identify which deserts of the world may fit into which of the 4 categories.
