citizens of India.

About the project

This project aims to provide a uniqueidentification card to every citizen of

India.This card will contain details like thename, sex, address, marital status,

photo identification mark and finger

biometrics by 2011.

It can be used as a voter I-Card, as a proof foropening a bank account and among otherthings.the UID numbers and the database will belinked to agencies such as the ElectionCommission of India and the Income Tax

Department, which deal with the generalpublic and issue of special number cards suchas voters photo identity cards in the case of

ECI and PAN Cards in the case of IT.

Advantages of the UID Card

Every citizen of the country is accounted. All theinformation about that person can be saved in thesmartcard and can be updated when needed.If this smart card has more information like

health record, travel detailsThis will really boost the IT infrastructure of thecountry, every hotel or every shop should beconnected to this system and records of every

citizen should be updated.This can be very helpful in keeping a watch ortracking security issues.

No need to carry health records if the card has aprovision to store health records.Right now we have many identification systems, like the

Voters card, Passport, Driving license, but once thissystem is introduced, we should follow one and onlyIdentification system and this should be the UniqueIdentification Smart Card.For every purpose the card should be access, checkedand updated.
