Message from your Officers

Dear Elk 57 Members: This starts my third year as Secretary for this wonderful Lodge, and I am very excited about what this year has to offer our members! As Exalted Ruler, one of Josh’s goals is to bring more events to the Club. Everyone will benefit from the fun that events bring as we bond with each other to build “brotherly love” & camaraderie. Increased attendance will help the Club prosper, which we are in need of right now. As Secretary, my goal is to increase membership. Our Lodge is the best kept secret in Fond du Lac; I aim to change that. We need to spread the word about the noble and charitable works that we at Lodge 57 do in our community. Consistently, every year we help improve the lives of people with severe disabilities, veterans, and youth at-risk of delinquency. We also honor deserving students entering college with scholarships. These are fantastic reasons to become an Elk! Encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to consider membership. Improving the community and supporting your Lodge is our theme this year. Help out when you can and have fun doing it. It’s your Lodge, make the most of it and make it the most fun place to be!

Fraternally yours,

Josh Emanuel Exalted Ruler ~and~ Trista Holz Secretary

Message from your Auxiliary President

This article should be my last one as your current President. Installation of officers will be taking place at the May meeting on the 27th; which I am hoping you will consider attending, as it would be nice to have the support of many. In addition to the installation on the 27th, we will be having the Memorial Service that evening for past & current members who passed away between June 1, 2013 and May, 2014. The deceased members include: Marlene Rose, Norma Witkowski, Virginia “Betty” Kirst, Mary Wohlust, Lil Ellingen, Shirley Toney, Mary Gesceidle and Joan Christ. Thank you in advance to Lynne Sears for handling this for us. It’s been a real pleasure serving as your President for the past two years. Some of the highlights for me were meeting many of you and the fun, Interesting and informative topics at our meetings. I wish Christina Metivier much fun and learning in her position of being our leader in the coming year. We have a full slate of officers ready to be elected and installed in May. Yippee!!! Thank you Lorita Driscoll and Jane Gaffney for handling the registration table this past month. Also, thank you to all that brought items for the Solution Center. Last month’s topic was Project Blake which was very interesting. Prior, I had heard about it, but never knew what it truly was. If you have any old art supplies laying around that you don’t use anymore, they could definitely put them to use. My last reminder: If you attend the meeting in your birthday month; you will be given a free birthday drink compliments of the Auxiliary. Hope to see you down at the Lodge for one of the Social functions or a great meal one of these days!!!

Message from your ENF Chairman

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION

Per member donations for the year ending

March 31, 2014 $15.48 As you can see from the number above, we as a Lodge did quite well during the past

Lodge year in donating to the ENF. As a Lodge, we ended the year in the top ten in

the state (8), and our district finished as the #1 district in the state. The ENF is a vital

part of the Elks program here in Wisconsin, and in Fond du Lac. Thank you to every-

one who made this possible by donating this past Lodge year.

If you are interested in making a monthly donation to the ENF, without the hassle of

having to remember to write a check, you can become part of the ENF Fidelity Club.

It’s easy to join; all you have to do is e-mail [email protected] or call 773-775-4728. It is a

hassle-free way to contribute monthly, and you won’t need to write a check.

REMEMBER, ALL DONATIONS TO THE ENF ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE

Congratulations to Thomas E. Whealon on attaining Honorary Founder ($1,000) level

in donations to the ENF.

WALLEYE WEEKEND….When opportunity knocks...Answer it with all you’ve got!!!

Walleye Weekend, June 6-8th, is going to be better than ever this year! It’s “Lodge 57 time” to show the community who we are

and how much fun we have supporting our Lodge! We will be setting up a booth as a concessions vendor. We will be getting help

from Three Guys & A Grill to make food such as chicken wings, pulled pork, vegetable kabobs, burgers, tortellini with marsala

sauce, and grilled beef tenderloin on a stick. All profits will be used for preserving our beautiful historical building, and also for

community investment projects. This event helps ensure the FDL Elks will stay in our beautiful location for years to come. We

need to make this vendor experience a success, because if we succeed with this opportunity, we can keep doing it for years and

show the Fox Cities biggest festival what we as Elks are all about!

We need everyone’s support! Volunteers are need for Thursday (2-? for setup), Friday (2-10pm), Saturday (10am-10pm), and

Sunday (10am-6pm). The more members and friends we can get to donate hours to help pour beer, serve food, setup, greet

friends, family, and former/future members the better! This year, our tent will be located by the lighthouse where all the fishermen

weigh in and the strong man contest is held. Let’s show them what we’ve got!!!

Contact Lee Ann Lorrigan for opportunities to volunteer and be part of this event!

Check out http://www.fdlfest.com/2014-walleye-weekend-map/fond-du-lac-elks-lodge-57 to find out more about our

Lodge, the menu, location, and hours of operation.

Don’t fret because you don’t have the

customary sticker(s) on your new

membership card. Visit your Lodge to

get them! I am available at Lodge

meetings, which are held the 1st & 3rd

Tuesdays each month at 7:30pm.
