GETTING TO KNOW YOU

In an effort to promote the warm community feeling we strive for here at KMS, we introduce you to KMS members each week. We hope you enjoy meeting your fellow members and will use these brief bios as a catalyst to introduce yourself to others at KMS.

BETH & JACK LICHY

Beth and Jack Lichy are originally from NY and met in graduate school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. They became KMS members in 2000. Jack is the Chief of Pathol-ogy at the VA Hospital in DC. Beth worked in the KMS shul office for 13 years and is cur-rently a lactation consultant (IBCLC) at Sibley Memorial Hospital. Beth and Jack are the parents of Esther, David, z"l and Jesse. The Lichys are thrilled to be living just a few blocks away from grandson David Lindell, and his parents Esther and Yosef who are also KMS members. Jesse is a graduate of UMD, and has been working at NIH and getting his

pilot's license. The David Lichy Kollel Library at MJHBA memorializes our son who had just finished sixth grade when he passed away. Beth co-founded a national breastfeeding organization, Breastfeeding USA, and leads a free moms' group which meets at Holy Cross Resource Center. She enjoys reading and studying Jewish texts. Jack has been a fan of classical music dating back to his days playing the violin in his high school orchestra. He also enjoys keeping our garden deer-free and taking walks with our dog, Lexi. Beth has served on several KMS committees and is currently co-Chair of the Seuda Shlishit Committee. The Lichys chaired a Kiddush Committee for over ten years. Beth is grateful for the years she spent learning from Rabbi Bieler and appreciative of the excitement Rabbi Weinberg has brought to the shul community. The Lichys appreciate the many educa-tional activities available at KMS and have enjoyed seeing the shul's growth and development over the years.

NECHUMAH & AARON WERBEL Nechumah and Aaron made their way to Kemp Mill from Baltimore and Ann Arbor, respectively, via Washing-ton DC, Italy and Annapolis, being joined by Eliana and Mollie along the way. After a long career in govern-ment consulting, Nechumah moved to the non-profit world. She is the Director of Project Management at PAN Foundation, where she currently leads a project to build new web por-tals that connect patients with finan-cial assistance for their medication co-pays. Aaron is a Captain in the U.S. Navy and a clinical psychologist. He is

currently stationed at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery as the Chief of Staff for Navy Healthcare Operations. Eliana is a rising 11th grader who will be attending CESJDS in the fall. She enjoys sports and has an interest in the field of sports medicine. Mollie is a rising 9th grader at Berman. She loves animals - dogs, goats, pigs!! The Getz/Werbels love the strong sense of community and mutual caring they feel everywhere at KMS. They ap-preciate the diversity within our modern orthodox family and the availabil-ity of a variety of minyanim styles and events.
