Barbara Becker called in about the December 15 From The Ar-chives photo, which was of her fam-ily. Shown on the far left is Georgia Prosser (Barbara’s cousin) holding her infant son Steve Prosser. Behind Georgia is Caroline (Barbara’s aunt), and in the white is Rebecca (Barba-ra’s great grandmother) and next to her is Matilda (Barbara’s grand-mother). She believes the five-gen-eration photo was taken around 1957 at a nursing home in Iowa Falls.
This is information taken from the orginal cutline that ran in the Oct. 30, 1952 paper. Pictured at Mrs. Wiese’s left is her daughter, Mrs. Dick Groenwald of Grundy Cen-ter. Mrs. Peter DeVoogd of Boone, daughter of Mrs. Groenwold, is on her grandmother’s right in back of her daughter, Mrs. Larry Prosser of Eldora. The youngest member of this family is Mrs. Prosser’s son, Steve, who was six month old when the picture was taken.
This is for the From the Archives pic from December 8:

GRUNDY CENTER - Earlier this month, the State of Iowa His-toric Preservation Office notified the Grundy Center Preservation Com-mission that they have been awarded a $10,000 Certified Local Govern-ment grant.
This grant, which includes a $1,000 match provided by the city of Grundy Center with an addition-al $3,000 contributed through local volunteer hours, will give the lo-cal Preservation Commission a big boost in upcoming projects.
“The funds will enable Grundy Center to move forward in terms of historic preservation,” said Joan Schuller, Preservation Commission Chair.
The group’s first steps include the creation of an inventory that identi-fies Main Street and other significant historical properties within the city.
“Developing an understanding of the historical context of Grundy Center’s buildings will create an awareness of their significance as the commission works to connect the past with a plan for the future,” said Schuller. “We are seeking to educate the community and coun-cil about the importance of historic preservation in order to ensure fu-ture community vitality.”
Mary Doak, another member of the Commission, said that the group will do this by using the grant money to employ a consultant to work with them and the State Historical Preser-vation Office to plan for preservation in Grundy Center. This consultant with help the group decide which projects they should work on first.
One of the long term goals of the Commission, according to Schuller and Doak, is to obtain eligibility on the State Historical Registry, a path-way to funding utilizing tax credits and other incentives.
“The whole process requires us to be an educational resource to help our community become aware of the value of preservation,” Doak said. “These are important steps in getting our main street district moving for-ward towards eligibility for the state and national historic district lists.”
Work on the plan should begin early in 2017.
Other members of the Preser-vation Commission include: Bruce Gordon, Mike Steinmeyer and Dar-ren Flater.

At the Center Theatre on Friday, December 22 at 7 p.m. will be the animated/family comedy Disney’s Moana 3D. This movie is rated PG, running approximately 105 minutes in length. At 7:30 will be the brand new adventure/spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 3D, starring Fe-licity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn and Forest Whitaker. This movie is rated PG-13 for violence, running approx-imately 135 minutes in length.
In order to open nationwide with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 3D, the Center Theatre is required to charge $6/person admission instead of the usual $4 3D admission. To offset this added expense, the Center Theatre will give everyone attending Rogue One a free popcorn valued at $2.50! Due to the special circum-stances surrounding the rogue one showing, 50 cent Fridays will not apply to rogue one, but will remain valid for moana.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes Moana 3D, a sweep-ing, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who is in-spired to leave the safety and secu-rity of her island on a daring jour-ney to save her people. Inexplicably drawn to the ocean, Moana meets the once mighty Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder, like her ancestors who sailed before her. Together, they voyage across the open ocean on an action-packed ad-venture, encountering enormous sea creatures and impossible odds, and
along the way, Moana fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own iden-tity. Moana 3D is at the Center The-atre this holiday and is the perfect family film for the season!
From Lucasfilm and Disney comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 3D, the all-new thrilling untold saga of a ragtag band of reb-els including a former soldier turned prisoner (Felicity Jones), a Rebel Al-liance insider (Diego Luna), a Jedi (Donnie Yen) and a sentient robot (voiced by Alan Tudyk). In a time on conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Em-pire’s ultimate weapon of destruc-tion. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordi-nary things and in doing so, become part of something greater than them-selves. The exciting Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 3D introduces new characters in the Star Wars world, but includes some originals includ-ing Darth Vader, voiced by James Earl Jones!
