The island nation of Fiji lies in the western Pacific Ocean, and covers anarea of 18000 square kilometres. With such a large area you will neverhave a feeling of being crowded. It is a 3.45 hours flight from Sydneyor an 11.30 hour flight from Los Angeles. The country is made up ofover 300 individual islands, of which approximately forty haveaccommodation available for visitors to stay at.

Fiji’s main island, where all the international flights arrive and depart, is calledViti Levu, it’s the location of the nations capital Suva, which is situated on theeastern side of the island and connected by a five hour coastal highway drive ora 30 minute shuttle flight from Nadi. Although an interesting town to visit wewould not recommend it for those clients looking for a relaxing holiday in thesun. Fiji’s other main town, and the location for the main international airport, is Nadi, which is located on the West Coast of Viti Levu close to all the mainvacationing areas.

Fiji’s tropical climate varies very little throughout the year ranging between74 and 80˚F with year round cooling sea breezes. The rainy season is in theirsummer, which is October through March, with the greater chance of heavierrainfalls from mid January to March, however you would be very unlucky toexperience a period of extended rain even during the rainy season.

From the central mountains to the white and black palm fringe sand beaches, and from the coral reefs to the tropical rain forests, Fiji offers some trulybreathtaking scenery. Just as Fiji’s scenery offers a kaleidoscope of experiences toexcite the senses so do its people, the population is made up of a blend of manyraces. The two main ones are the indigenous Melanesian Fijians and the IndianFijians whose ancestors arrived from India during the late 1700 early 1800’s towork Fiji’s sugarcane fields.

The Fijian culture remains one steeped in Melanesian tradition, which demandsthat all visitors are treated as honoured guests, you will be made to feel like oneof the family, the friendliness of everybody you meet is genuine and infectious.

With Fiji’s ethnic mix comes a wide range of culinary delights, from Kokada, atraditional dish of fresh fish marinated in lime juice and coconut milk, and thewide range of fresh fish to curries, sushi, crepes, steaks, burgers pies and pizza. Most hotels have a weekly Lovo feast, with a selection of local fish, meat andvegetables prepared and cooked in a traditional Fijian way by being placed in apit and slowly roasted over hot stones, a great experience both social andculinary.

For the active Fiji offers a wide range of activities including Golf, Tennis,Fishing, Scuba diving, Sailing, Horse riding/trekking and Hiking.

Fiji’s unspoiled natural beauty mixed with it’s tranquillity and relaxedatmosphere will fulfil your every romantic notion. The islands 300 species of native Orchids stand as proof of Fiji’s unspoiled environment, Fiji is anidyllic destination, Fiji is paradise!

Where To StayBecause of its close proximity to the vacationing markets of Australia and New Zealand, Fiji has

developed a much wider range of holiday accommodation choices than any other pacific island nation.

As a result of this we believe that visitors fromthe United Kingdom have to be very carefulwith their choice of hotels, as some of thehotels which cater strongly to the Australianand New Zealand family holiday markets maynot match up to you expectation. If you havetravelled halfway around the world to find thatvery special Pacific Island experience, you donot want to be sharing it with a hoard ofscreaming children, however lovely they maybe!

The main accommodation area on Viti Levu is theCoral Coast, which is located half way betweenNadi and Suva. This area offers a large range ofhotels and resorts, which are ideal of a short stay ofsay up to 4 nights. We would not recommend a longstay on the Coral Coast for as lovely as the area is,

we believe that the true Fijian experience is to befound on Fiji’s outer islands. These are mainlylocated in the Mananuca and Yasawa islands, whichare situated to the west of Viti Levu. It’s our beliefthat Fiji’s outer islands offer a blend of romance, relaxation, scenic beauty and laid back island livingthat is not found anywhere else in the world

In addition there are some lovely resorts to be foundon the islands of Vanua Levu and Taveuni which lieto the north of Viti Levu. The northern islands offeran experience of Fiji that is very unspoiled. UnlikeViti Levu which has been extensively cultivated forsugar and forestry, Vanua Levu has had relativelylittle commercial cultivation, its vegetation andforests are as they have been for centuries.

Fiji hosts a number of the world’s top class resorts, but there are also some not so special hotels! So westrongly recommend that you are very careful withyour choice of property, collectively Transpacific’ssales consultants have first hand knowledge of everymajor hotel/resort in Fiji and most of the others too.

We believe that our combined knowledge on Fiji isthe most comprehensive of any travel company inthe United Kingdom. So please call, as we will behappy to pass on our knowledge to you, to ensurethat your visit to Fiji lives up to, and hopefullyexceeds your expectations.

Transpacific offers you a wide choice of flight options to giveyou the best possible flexibility when planning your trip to Fiji.

As Fiji is exactly on the opposite side of the world from Britain, the180-degree longitude line runs straight through the island of Taveuni,so it’s no quicker to travel to Fiji via the East or the West. Therefore youcan decide on which route to take based on flight convenience or whereelse you would like to visit during your trip.

If you are just going to visit Fiji there are two preferred routings. Oneoption is from London to Los Angeles, with a direct connection to Fiji, this can be with Air New Zealand who operate all the way, or with anyairline of your choice from London to LA and then with either Air NewZealand or Air Pacific from LA to Fiji. The other option is withKoreanAir from London to Seoul with a direct flight connection onto Fiji.

If you are planning to include Fiji as part of a broader South Pacific oraround the world itinerary then the air carrier will vary as it will bedependent on your specific itinerary.

With these combinations of flights we can offer daily departures to Fiji, full flight details are available from our reservations centre.

Why Not Spoil YourselfFiji is a very long way away, with an elapsed travelling time ofalmost 24 hours, so why not spoil yourself and travel in BusinessClass. We can offer you some very competitive upgrade prices forBusiness Class travel with our partner airlines.

So if the idea of being pampered and truly spoiled appeals to you, thenplease call us and we will be happy to quote you a price for travellingBusiness Class.

Weddings and Honeymoons in exotic far away places havebecome increasingly more popular with British romantics, and there is nowhere more romantic for your very special

celebrations, than the islands of the Pacific Ocean.

How we have rated the hotels

Weddings & Honeymoonsin Fiji

For your Wedding, there is a wide selectionof ceremonies, styles and locations to choosefrom, unlike most of our competitors we donot want to prejudge your own veryindividual requirements. All you need to dois just tell us exactly what you would like, from the location of the ceremony to thecolour of your bouquet, and we will do therest. Nothing is too much trouble, whateveryour requirements we can arrange thatunforgettable moment.

We can arrange marriages on any of theislands, (although we would not recommendsome of them!) you just have to allow twoworking days prior to the wedding ceremonyto facilitate the local paperwork.

For your Honeymoon, again there are awide selection of islands and hotels to choosefrom, many of the hotels offer specialbenefits for honeymooners ranging from abowl of fruit to free room upgrades. Weappreciate that the choice of your honeymoon

destination is not one that you will takewithout a lot of thought, so we would bevery happy to discuss your individualrequirement and make our suggestions forresorts we feel will best meet your needs. To help you with your deliberationswe have identified the propertieswe feel are ideal for honeymoons. They are highlighted by way ofthis icon.

Because of their location it is not in our opinion reasonable to applythe same basic criteria to grading a hotel in Fiji, as you would to onein London. Transpacific’s gradings take into account not only thefacilities offered by the property but also its sympathy and harmonywith its natural surroundings and the experience the visitor gets fromjust being there! Our ratings do not reflect the room standard as thesewill vary from property to property. We have included detaileddescriptions of the rooms available at the resorts featured in the

brochure, however should you need more details on these or on anyother resort in Fiji not featured, please call our reservations centre aswe will be happy to assist you

The grading’s are very personal to our staff’s own assessments of thehotels ability to match up to the guest’s expectations, based on theirexperiences when staying at the hotels. And influenced by ourcollective belief that it’s a long way to travel to stay in somethingmediocre!
