FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK

It is the time of year for vacations. Thank God! Don't you justlave acations?! Each 0:us needs and deserves a change of pace or time off from work to renewand refresn ourse. es,perhaps, re'axing around home or ata park or at the shore or the mountains.

The pace slows down in the summer. It is a good time for a needed and deserved rest. Intoday's Gospel Our lord invites us to come to Him, all of us who labor and are burdened, and Hewill give us rest. Now there's an invitation wejust can't refuse!

Summer is a perfect time to come to Our Lord and He will refresh and renew us. Perhapsby a more honest following of the teaching of the Church and a return to regular monthlyconfession - with your children. Perhaps, by letting go of resentment to that family member orneighbor or co-worker and expressing some kindness. Kindness usually begets kindness.

Perhaps, by a donation to pro-life to help fight the biggest battle of our time or to the poorand needy. Perhaps, with some extra time in the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel or in prayer, evendaily Mass.

Our Lord wants to receive our cares and worries and bless our suffering and use it for ourgood and the good of others.

The weariness of life cannot be relieved by nicer material possessions and more pleasure. In fact, it's the pursuit of pleasure and a better material life alone that wearies us more thananything. Only Jesus can satisfy the human heart.

Only coming to Him again, and again, and again, will keep us peaceful, joyful and loving.

PRAYERTO MARY IMMACULATEPATRONESS OF THE UNITED STATES

o Immaculate Mary, Mother, Teacher, and Queen, watch over with a

loving smile this blessed land of America and her children. Your heart expandsso as to welcome and enfold all peoples in the loving embrace of peace.

You continue to look down upon the earth, upon the just and the erring, ever solicitous for the salvation of all. You remember that Jesus, when dying onthe cross, assigned you as our Mother, and inflamed your heart with universallove and solicitude. Therefore, continue to inspire vocations; comfort theevangelical laborers; render all hearts docile to the Divine Master.

Through you may this great people evermore find in Christ the Way,the Truth, and the Life; may they let His light shine before the world, and maythey always seek the kingdom of God and His justice.

o Mary Immaculate, Queen of Apostles, pray for us. Amen.

This prayer is a game changer for you spiritually, and agame changer for every aspect of your life. If every Catholic in Americaprayed in this way for a few minutes each day, the Church would be on thefast track to renewal. If everyone in your parish began to pray using thisprocess, your parish would explode with enthusiasm and engagement.

I

From Matthew Kelly's Book:The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic

THEPRAYERPROCESS

1. Gratitude: Begin by thanking God in a personal dialoguefor whatever you are most grateful for today.

Awareness: Revisit the times in the past twenty-four hours whenyou were and were not the-best-version-of-yourself. Talk to God about these situations andwhat you learned from them.

Significant Moments:Identify something you experienced today andexplore what God might be trying to say to youthrough that event (or person).

Peace: Ask God to forgive you for any wrong you havecommitted (against yourselt another person, orHim) and to fill you with a deep and abiding peace.

Freedom: Speak with God about how He is inviting you tochange your life, so that you can experience thefreedom to be the-best-version-of-yourself.

Others: Lift up to God anyone you feel called to pray fortoday, asking God to bless and guide them.
