Symptom

When you implement or update a scenario, you must update the SAP Component Repository Content (SAP CR Content) in the System Landscape Directory (SLD) or the landscape management database (LMDB).

Reason and Prerequisites

The SAP Component Repository (SAP CR Content) is an integral part of the System Landscape Directory. It is the part of the data that is delivered by SAP. We recommend that you always use the latest version of SAP CR Content. This is located on the SAP Support Portal on the "SAP Support Packages & Patches" page. The following items are available here:

1. The current CIM data model as the file cimsap....zip

2. A current SAP CR Content update as the file CRDelta....zip

The SAP CR Content is independent from the SLD release. Therefore, you must always import the latest SAP CR Content into each SLD. The Support Package numbering has no connection to the Support Packages of other components or products. The SAP CR Content is delivered for all releases. SAP CR CONTENT can be imported in live operation; downtime is not required. The runtime is in the range of 1 to 30 minutes. A user must have administration authorization to import the update into the System Landscape Directory. The AS Java system in which the SLD is installed must have at least SAP NetWeaver Version 2004. If the SLD is used as a cluster, you must observe the information in SAP Note 825116 for SAP NW 2004.

Solution

1. Determine the data model version and SAP CR Content version that are available in your SLD:

Choose "Administration -> Details -> Data" to see the current CIM model version and the version of the SAP CR Content (for example, 1.5.32 as the model version and SAP_CR 3.10 as the content version).

If no SAP CR Content exists in the SLD, you must initially fill the SLD first. When you install the system, this provides an initial content. The instructions for configuring the SLD are available in the SLD user manual at:

2. Go to the SAP Support Portal and download the required updates.

The SAP CR CONTENT is available at https://support.sap.com/patches. Choose:

"A-Z Alphabetical List of Products -> A-Z Index Support Packages and Patches -> C -> SAP CR CONTENT".

You must first download the current CIM model. You can find this under SAP CR CONTENT UP TO ... (highest available date for a year) with the file name cimsap....zip. If there are several of these files, use the latest one. If there is no such file, no update has yet been published for this version and you fall back upon the previous version of SAP CR CONTENT. Caution: In the case of a model version below 1.4.31, you must first follow the instructions in SAP Note 907897.

Each SAP CR CONTENT support package contains a "cimsap....zip" file, even if the CIM model version has not changed since the previous version. Generally, import cimsap....zip before the CRDelta....zip, even if you already have this model version in the SLD.

Depending on the initial version of your SAP CR Content, you may have to import several CR delta upgrades. The following list contains the required updates.

3. Import the updates

The system does not unpack the archives but imports them into the SLD as a ZIP file. For some archives, you must note particular rules that are described at the end of this SAP Note. Before the import, check whether you must consider further details in your case.

Choose "Administration -> Import" to first import the model update "cimsap....zip". You cannot ignore any warning that may occur telling you that a newer model has already been loaded. You must therefore not choose "Import Anyway", but you must choose "Cancel Import" as you must not import an old model on top of a newer model. You can import the same model version and this does not lead to any warning. For more information, see SAP Note 1045423.

Then import the content update file or files ("CRDelta....zip"). The update contains all of the changes as of the initial status (= aggregate of all updates). The program only imports those changes that are not already present in your Component Repository - it ignores all changes that you have already imported. When you repeat the import of a delta that has already been successfully imported, the import is not carried out, which is correct. You must also not ignore any warnings here, but you must choose "Cancel Import". The warning is usually caused by an error when selecting the entry point on SAP Service Marketplace. Repeat the solution steps 1 and 2.

4. In SLD under "Administration" -> "Details" -> "Data", check the version of the content that you have imported.

Special features of individual packages The delta CRDelta1511_0... contains the deletion of all scenario data and solution data that is no longer required. For this reason, the import of the delta takes between 15 and 30 minutes. Furthermore, the delta "CRDelta1511_0..." requires the model 1.5.32 or higher. You must therefore first import the file "cimsap1511_0...". The delta CRDelta61608_0... exceeds the size of 20 MB. In older system landscape directories (SLD), however, the file upload is limited to 20 MB. If the file upload terminates with a corresponding error message, increase the limit to 40 MB as described in SAP Note 1326081. The delta CRDelta81612_0... contains an enhancement of the scope of the software catalog data with alternative product components. Due to this enhancement, the data volumes and the import time are higher than normal by approximately a factor of 4.

Upgrade from Version 2.0 to Version 3.0

To upgrade from SAP MASTER DATA FOR SLD 2.0 to SAP CR CONTENT UP TO 2007 (technical version is 3.0), you are required to perform the following steps:

1. Import the last delta from 2.0. This comprises model 1.5.20 (cimsap1418_...zip) and the content delta (CRDelta1418_...zip). Before you import the new model, check the parameter RejectUnsupportedCIMQualifiers and the existing model version. Proceed in accordance with SAP Note 907897.

  In 6.40 and 7.0 SP0 - SP9, the model import (file "cimsap....zip") takes 30 - 60 minutes; as of Release 7.0 SP10, this part takes less than 1 minute.

2. You can obtain the next update from SAP CR CONTENT UP TO 2007 (3.0).
