Use the flush mount kit for installation in a panel cut-out.

The flush mounting kit for release 2.1 and earlierconsists of four fasteners (2) with appropriate mountingdetails (4) and a sealing strip (5) for fastening to the IED(3). See Figure 2.

From release 2.2 onwards, the flush mounting kitconsists of two fasteners (2) with appropriate mountingdetails (4) and a sealing strip (5) for fastening to the IED(3). See Figure 3. The two fasteners are pre-assembledto the box.

To receive IP54 class protection, an additional sealing (1)must be ordered with the IED. This sealing is factorymounted.

Test switch module

GeneralM1955-3 v4

The test switch module consists of a RHGS 6 case with atest switch, RTXP 24, and a two-seat Combiflex terminalbase mounted. An optional DC-switch occupies one seatif selected. A side-by-side mounting kit is included. The

side-by-side mounted units are mounted in a rack orcubicle using the appropriate kit, for example the rackmounting kit.

All connections to the test switch module are made withCombiflex socket leads. Test contacts 1-24 of the testswitch have 20 A Combiflex terminals. The signalcontact of the test switch and the Combiflex terminalbase have 10 A terminals.

The test switch, RTXP 24, is used to make it possible totest a IED in a failsafe way. Inserting a test-plug handleinto the test switch automatically makes allpreparations for test in the proper sequence. Blockedtrip circuits, shortcircuited CT’s, opened voltage circuitsmakes the IED terminals available for secondaryinjection test.

The DC-switch is optional in the test switch module andare used to switch the DC-supply of the IED ON/OFF.

5. Key switch for settingsM1991-3 v2

The key switch for lock-out of settings via the localhuman machine interface is used to prevent unwantedchanges of settings. The switch locks the settings via abinary input.

M1993-3 v1

The key switch is of one seat Combiflex type. To installit, a case including a Combiflex terminal base is needed.One possibility is to install the key switch in the samecase as the test switch.

6. Combiflex modules

Auxiliary relaysSEMOD121105-4 v3

Auxiliary relays can be used together with the IED toprovide functionality such as lock-out, lock-out reset orexternal contact re-enforcement

When the contact rating of the IED is insufficient, it isrecommended to use RXME 1 as a contact re-enforcement. The RXME 1 is then activated from an IEDcontact which is set up to be activated together withthe IED contacts tripping the breaker. The contact of theRXME 1 is connected in parallel, to take over the breakertrip coil current. This gives an efficient solution andmeans no time delay at tripping. See figure 9.

When single pole tripping is used one RXME 1 is requiredper phase and of course per subsystem in redundantsystems.

Lock-out can be arranged with RXMD 1 remanence relayactivated from binary outputs on IED and possible otherprotection relays required to activate lock-out, seefigure 10. The contact of RXMD 1 is connected to openthe closing circuit to the breaker closing coil. Anothercontact can be used to light-up a lamp push button tohave indication of the lock-out and then reset with thepush-button. It is recommended to avoid trip contactlatching as this will mean problem for example with tripcircuit supervision and further at failing breaker, mean

that the trip coil is burnt and the trip coil DC supply istripped. The most important is to prevent that thebreaker is closed at persistent faults.

The push button is available with or without pilot lampand with one or two buttons. It is used to reset the lock-out relays when an external independent lock-out andlock-out indications is required. The push button unitcan also be used as a local selector of Auto-Recloseoperation when this is required to be done locally as wellas through communication.

The selector switch is available with two or three fixedpositions and with different contact combinations.Selector switch can e.g. be used as Local/Remoteselector or as a local selector of Auto-Reclose operation.See section "Related documents" for reference to moredetailed information.

7. ConnectorsM2006-3 v3

The connectors are used for analogue signals and binaryin- and output signals.

Use the ferrules to connect two wires to the sameterminal point of a connector of screw compressiontype. Note that 1.5 mm2 is the maximum dimensionallowed on these wires. An appropriate crimping tool isneeded to apply the ferrule to the wires. Use the bridgeconnector to jumper terminal points in a connector.

Use ring-lugs to connect the wires to terminal points ofa connector of ring-lug type. Select ring-lugs suitable towiring dimension and size of fitting screw.

12. Injection unit REX060

Injection unit REX060GUID-76627CA5-9351-49BB-ABDE-81A939D12BF4 v2

The injection unit REX060 is used to inject voltage andcurrent signals to the generator or motor stator androtor circuits. REX060 generates two square wavesignals with different frequencies for injection into thestator and rotor circuits respectively. The response fromthe injected voltage and currents are then measured bythe REX060 unit and amplified to a level suitable for theanalog voltage inputs of IED.

For local operation, the REX060 unit is provided with acontrol panel on the front.

Local operation shall only be performedaccording to the operation regulationsset up by the relevant operationauthority of the plant.

The injection unit REX060 case size is 6U, 1/2 x 19”.REX060 can be rack, wall or flush mounted in the sameway as the IED. For guidance, see instructions for rackmounting, wall mounting or flush mounting the IED inthis manual.

REX060 shall be mounted close to the IED. It isrecommended that they are mounted in the samecubicle.

The RIM module is installed into the REX060 enclosure.The RIM module generates a square wave voltage signalfor injection into the rotor circuit via a capacitor unitREX061 for isolation. The COMBIFLEX voltage injection unit RXTTE4 is usedfor rotor earth fault protection applications. The RXTTE4 contains a voltage transformer with a primary windingfor connection to 120 or 230 V, 50 or 60 Hz supplyvoltage. From the secondary winding of this internal

voltage transformer approximately 40 V AC is injectedvia series capacitors and resistors into the rotor circuit.The injected voltage and current are fed to one voltageinput and one current input on the IED.

In order to mount injection unit RXTTE4 someCOMBIFLEX accessories are required; RX4 terminal base,10A and 20A contact sockets and Crimping tool. See

The external resistor is used when either there is a needto minimize physical exposure of the field circuit orwhen high harmonic content of the total injectioncurrent can cause overheating of the built-in RXTTE4resistor. The external resistor is delivered mounted onan insulated plate with overall dimensions; (the height is160 mm (6,2 inches) and width 135 mm (5,31 inches)),suitable for wall mounting, see figure 30. It actuallyconsists of two resistors (R1 and R2) which are ondelivery connected in series. It is possible to order twodifferent types of the external resistor. The first type(ordering number RK795102-AD) has exactly the sameohmic value of 220Ω as the internal RXTTE4 resistor. Itshall be used in cases where only physical exposure ofthe field circuit shall be limited. The second type(ordering number RK795102-AB) has different ohmicvalue than internal RXTTE4 resistor. It shall be used ininstallations where current with high harmonic contentis pushed back onto the RXTTE4 injection unit by therotor circuit

The REX060 injection unit requires a connection to a VT across the generator neutralpoint earthing resistor. The VT must have a rating of at least 100 VA and a ratedsecondary winding voltage of up to 120 V. It must adhere to IEC 61869-3:2011 section5.5.301 Rated Output Values and the standard values specified according to burdenrange II.

If the generator is earthed via a primary resistor connected between the generatorneutral point and earth, a VT is placed across the primary resistor. SIM is thenconnected to the secondary side of the VT. The VT must have a rating of at least 100VA and a rated secondary winding voltage of up to 120 V. It must adhere to IEC61869-3:2011 section 5.5.301 Rated Output Values and the standard values specifiedaccording to burden range II.
