The FEFPEB pallet timberindicates a trend in the development of the wood prices for pallets in Europe.

5. EU Parliament adopted the legislative package on waste management
- On 16-18 April 2018 the EP voted and adopted the legislative package on waste management
- In the next step in the legislative process, the Council must formally adopt the legislation. This is expected to happen in May 2018
- The waste package is part of a shift in EU policy towards a circular economy
Revision EU Packaging Waste Directive
- A minimum of 65% of packaging materials will have to be recycled by 2025 and a minimum of 70% by 2030
- Separate targets are set for specific packaging materials
- Landfilling to become an exception

Important articles in the revision for wooden packaging
- Specific recycling targets for wood packaging will be as follows: - By 2025: minimum of 25% - By 2030: minimum of 30%
- A Member State may take into account the amounts of wooden packaging that is repaired for reuse in the calculation (of the recycling percentage)
Implementing acts
- In order to ensure uniformed conditions (…), the Commission shall adopt by 31 March 2019 implementing acts establishing rules for the calculation, verification and reporting of data (also for repairing for reuse)
