GREETERS NEEDED Let us welcome our brothers and sisters in Christ as they come to mass. This is an excellent opportunity for people in high school and older to be involved. If you are friendly and a social person, please consider volunteering. Spending just a few minutes greeting parishioners and welcoming newcomers each a week could have a true impact. Please contact Mike Iozzo to sign up or for more information at [email protected].

HAVE YOU REGISTERED ON FLOCKNOTE YET?

We still don’t have everyone registered in our new system. Please take a moment to register.

This new system counts every adult parishioner individually, so those who are married need to register separately, with a unique phone number or email.

Go to visitationparish.org and click on the sheep or text JOINVIS to 84576 on your cell phone.

Need help? Call the rectory at 630-834-6700. We are happy to help!

USHERS STILL NEEDED!

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS this is an excellent opportunity to show community/religious service. Please consider signing up to usher. NO COMMITMENT to specific Mass time is required. Dress is business casual. What better way to serve a ministry than to help out at the Mass you attend? • Ensure collection baskets, bulletins and pews are ready

for the Mass • Greet parishioners and help them to pews as needed. • Assist in basket disbursement to congregation,

Comunion presentation and offertory. • After Mass, replace Gather books to pew pockets, and

fold kneelers up. Check pews for litter/personal items left.

• Ushers are only asked to arrive about 15 minutes before Mass and stay shortly after.

Only about an hour of your day, and a wonderful need to the Parish is fulfilled. Sign up is in the vestibule. Please contact Patti Pagni [email protected] with any questions or for more information. Thank you for considering!

DIFFERENT BUT THE SAME

Saint Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa) served the sick and the dying, the hungry and the homeless in Calcutta India. Saint John Paul II said: "Where did Mother Teresa find the strength and perseverance to place herself completely at the service of others? She found it in prayer and in the silent contemplation of Jesus Christ, His Holy Face, His Sacred Heart." It has been said that she spent time in Adoration daily before she or any of her fellow sisters went out to minister to the poor and dying.

There is only one St. Teresa of Calcutta and our lives here in Elmhurst pale in comparison.

Or do they? Though our circumstances are so different, we have struggles. We have difficulties. We need the strength to get through the day. So, just like St. Teresa, the answer lies in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Different but the same.

“Spend as much time as possible in front of the Blessed Sacrament and He will fill you with His strength and His power.”

St. Teresa of Calcutta

We currently have 2 empty hours, Sunday 1:00-2:00 am (every other Sunday) and Sunday 7:00-8:00 am.

Other hours need partners. Tuesday – 7am, 11am, Thursday – 7am, Friday – 1am, 10am, 6pm,

Saturday – 4am, 2pm, 5pm.

Won’t you help keep the chapel perpetual?

Please contact Mary at 630 941 9173 or Joan at 630 530 8963 to register

Our RCIA class was able to have a presentation by Richard at the Crypt of the Saints. The class was so excited to see this amazing holy place and didn’t believe that our church had such a place like this and has been here for several years!

Please pray for our RCIA class as they prepare for their sacraments on Holy Saturday. From left to right: Rachel, John L, John F, Nick, Mike, Kimma, and not pictured is Scott and Randy. May the Holy Spirit guide them as they continue their journey of faith and God bless them always.

Your gift to the CMAA makes a difference

30 ministries are supported through our annual appeal truly exemplifying this year’s theme, Be Kind and Merciful. These ministries allow the diocese to serve our most vul-nerable brothers and sisters and assist parishes, including ours.

Our parish’s goal for the 2020 CMAA is $GOAL, with 70 percent of the amount we raise over this goal returned to us for our needs. Please prayerfully reflect on your gift to this year’s CMAA and make a commitment next week dur-ing our CMAA Commitment/InPew Weekend.

Thank you for considering the most generous pledge pos-sible to this year’s annual appeal.

SECOND COLLECTION

Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Church

in Central and Eastern Europe. This collection supports the

Church in more than 20 countries that still struggle to

recover from Communist rule. Funds from this collection

support pastoral care, catechesis, building renovations, and

seminary formation. Your support restores the Church and

builds the future in this region. Please prayerfully consider

how you can support the collection next week. More

information can be found at www.usccb.org/ccee.

Thank You! We would like to thank David James for all his years of service to the Manna Program here at Visitation! He kept the program running smoothly and his personal attention will be missed now that the program has been automated. Thank you David and God bless you!

ST. PEREGRINE PRAYER GROUP

Please join Deacons Mike Iozzo and Mike O’Ryan on Thursday, March 20 at 7 PM in the church they lead a prayer for those suffering from cancer, and for all of our sick. St. Peregrine relic will also be available for a special blessing. All are invited.

People are not property. We cannot exchange them at will or simply use them for our own designs and pur-poses. What does the word “commitment” mean to you? We can begin to understand its meaning by looking at some synonyms: dedication, devotion, alle-giance, loyalty, faithfulness, fidelity, and bond. Com-mitment is primarily about relationship, and Jesus is all about relationships. How our lives affect others, how we treat our brothers and sisters, how we resolve conflict, and how we view the vows of marriage. Je-sus’ teachings on obeying the commandments, mur-der, reconciliation, marriage, divorce, and adultery all stem from the sacredness of commitment. All of this has a God connection.

We can easily see one another as interchangeable and dispensable. We treat so much of our lives this way. What works today may not be what I want tomorrow. We search and search for the right thing only to find our hearts still restless in the end. Is real happiness achievable this side of the grave? Sometimes we ex-pect too much out of others and want our relationships to fill a hole that we must figure out how to fill our-selves. Any seasoned married couple will tell you that their love for one another changes as time passes. Even though the understanding of romance changes as life changes, the dedication, devotion, allegiance, loy-alty, faithfulness, and fidelity all remain and even deepen.

Some relationships can be hurtful, and God does not want us to live with abuse or pain. Also, how a rela-tionship develops is sometimes out of our control, and we become the victim of someone else’s decision. But we can’t be self-focused in our relationships and see them exclusively as self-fulfilling ends. We are com-panions on life’s journey with varying depths of rela-tionships being enjoyed by all who are with us along the way. We have the freedom to choose. God asks us to do so wisely, with right judgment and thinking.
