COLLECTION FOR MILITARY ARCHDIOCESE Next weekend our parish will take up the Collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS). The guid-ing mission of the AMS is to provide the sacraments—and the re-affirming Word of Christ—to the men and women serving in our armed forces, patients in VA medical cen-ters, civilians working for the federal government beyond U.S. borders, and the families of these populations. To provide this service, they need your help. The AMS re-ceives no federal funding.

When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house." And he came down quickly and re-ceived him with joy. When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner." - Lk 19:5-7

THIS WEEK’S GOSPEL At that time Jesus came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town. Now a man there named Zac-chaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man, was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way. When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.” And he came down quickly and received him with joy. When they all saw this, they began to grum-ble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sin-ner.” But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, ”Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.”

    Luke 19:1-10

THE PASTOR’S PONDERANCES Today the Lord is showing his people that He is al-ways aware of where we are in our lives. How we are or are not following Him. The Lord knew that Zacchaeus was up in the leafy sycamore tree. There’s no hiding from our Lord. He will find us. Are we open to finding or further discovering Him in His love? Fr. Daniel

+FRANCIS LECLAIR By Alice Leclair & Family

SR. LUCIE SAYS The scriptures of this weekend, as did last week’s, remind us of prayer in our lives. Last week it reminded us that God always answers prayers, even if it is not in the way we antici-pate or even when. It is, however, always with the greater good in mind, even if we do not rec-ognize or acknowledge it that way. This week the Psalm takes a different emphasis, that of praising, extolling and blessing God’s name for-ever. The Psalm continues with “The Lord is faithful in all his works and holy in all his works.” Perhaps we are called once again this week to refresh our minds and give the Lord thanks and praise for all the blessings in our lives—past, present and future.
