THANK YOU!

The Chamber has had a very busy & successful fall thanks to all of our board members, ambassadors, volunteers and

the community.

We’ve hosted the first successful Golf Ball drop, alongside Riverside Country Club, with a tremendous turn-out! Then

we hosted the largest event in Trenton each year, the Missouri Day Festival, in conjunction with the Missouri

Marching Band Festival, hosted by Buddy & Karla Hannaford. These combined events brought so many people into our community to make it a huge success again this

year. The Rotary Club did an excellent job with the parade as well this year.

The annual Trick-or-Treat night at the Rock Barn brought in an estimated 550 kids to collect treats at 31 tables. We couldn’t accomplish this without your help and support.

Thank you ALL for your unending support and help through our fall events thus far!

KTTN Benefit Soiree

Come to the PAR Broadcasting 4th annual Soiree Thursday November 6th at the National Guard Armory in Trenton. A catered meal is at 6:30 with a live auction starting at 7:30.  We also will have a silent auction.  Proceeds from the auctions go toward local veterans services under the auspices of Wayne Kleinschmidt of Trenton.  Tickets cost $15 and may be purchased during business hours at KTTN – KGOZ office, 804 Main Street through Wednesday November 5th. Businesses wishing to make a donation for the auction need to contact our sales staff by November 5th so your items canbe put on the list.

We set out with the mission to “cultivate leaders,” and we began spreading the word that the City of Trenton was looking for motivated youth to fill the spots. Chase Marsh, Ellis Gilham, Sadie Roy, Karley McCollum, Meghan Adams, Martha Cool, Mercedez Elliot, Hannah Farmer, Chelsey Miller and Ally Ockenfels were just the youth we were looking for when they signed up to participate in this year’s program.

The program is designed to assist in the development of community leadership skills for teens looking to gain knowledge and experience in leadership rolls.  Our goal is to prepare the youth for their future by cultivating leadership skills in areas such as public speaking, interviewing, financial preparedness, and community involvement.

The 10-week schedule includes sessions that enrich the youth’s knowledge of City Government, Community Resources, Business Tours, History, Building Self Confidence, Overcoming Challenges and Team Building exercises.  Perhaps one of the most beneficial and impacting things we do with the students is to help them take a step into their future.  They identify a career path, then we then ask them to research their career field and prepare a resume.  They are then paired with a professional in the field of their choice and will be given a mock job interview.  These interviews provide them with a real life experience that will give them a step up in their career.

We feel that serving the youth in the community and helping fulfill their dreams is a monumental way to enrich the community as a whole.  The future is in the hands of our youth and as we pass the baton to them, we want them to grasp it with unwavering confidence and knowledge.

Scott Rasa knows all too well about traumatic injuries, and is fanatical about safety

on his farm and in all his busi-nesses.

The Lafayette County, Mo., farmer’s cousin and great-grand-father were both killed in tractor accidents, but it is one a little clos-er to home that sticks in his mind the most and proves that even careful people have accidents.

In 2005 while driving a skid-steer loader, Rasa accidently backed over his father’s foot, caus-ing severe injuries that almost cost his foot. However, LifeFlight Eagle f lew Rasa’s father to a Kan-sas City trauma center, where through a series of operations,

surgeons were able to repair and save his foot.

Rasa recognized the value of having such an important public-safety organization near his fam-ily and his community. In 2010, he partnered with LifeFlight Eagle to build a new base on his farm-land just east of Odessa, near In-terstate 70 and the intersection of Highways M and O.

Rasa built a state-of-the-art climate-controlled hangar facility that now houses one of LifeFlight Eagle’s Bell 407 helicopters and its round-the-clock f light team, which consists of a pilot, f light nurse and f light paramedic.

The new Lafayette County base has been operating for 17 months

now. Combined with its other three bases (Trenton, Harrison-ville and Clinton, Mo.), LifeFlight Eagle serves communities sur-rounding Kansas City.

In its February edition, The Progressive Farmer magazine named Rasa, age 39, one of Amer-

ica’s five “Best Young Farmers & Ranchers.”

LifeFlight Eagle wrote a let-ter of recommendation for Rasa’s nomination, citing his partner-ship with LifeFlight Eagle as just one example of Rasa’s community-first attitude.

To promote responsible driving and good decision making, LifeFlight Eagle partnered with the Riverside Police and Fire Department and others to stage a mock DWI crash and response simulation at Park Hill High School on Tuesday, April 10, — the week before the school’s prom. With the help of Riverside Fire personnel, LifeFlight Eagle Flight Nurse Val Hammergren and Flight Paramedic Gillian Pederson loaded “victim” Amy O’Guin, an administrative assistant at PHS, into the helicopter while pilot Tim Schlupp waited to lift. As part of its ongoing community education initiatives, LifeFlight Eagle participates in numerous educational mock scenes each year in the communities it serves.
