Vaidehi Modi has played his last

card for the 2019 elections;people of north and centralIndia are being deeplyabsorbed in blind nationalismsince Pulwama andAbhinandan incidences hap-pened. Somewhere, the seniorBJP leaders like Yeddyurappahave already confessed it.During the 1992 elections, someone asked PVNarasimha Rao, the thenPrime Minister of India, howwill you win over BJP?Narasimha Rao smiled andtook a deep breath and said,“Don’t you understand thepolitics of BJP? BJP politi-cians do politics of symbol-ism? This time BJP cam-paigner is Lord Rama, Youcan win above everything buthow will you win over Rama?

Correctly symbolising thepolitics is mastery of BJP”. Istrongly resonate to PVNarasimha Rao; those days Iwas a school kid to under-stand these politics but I havewitnessed that bizarre crazein my house where everyonewas up to donating somethingfor the Ram Temple, all wereattending mass prayers, andthey were totally for the BJP,in anticipation of having LordRama Temple in Ayodhya.Till today, many riots hadhappened, people got divided

into religious lines, but LordRama is in the transit camp.BJP has totally ignored thissubject and so the people alsohave moved out of it. Rama isno longer working as onecannot bake cookies withburned coils. Now, in 2019,PM Modi has placed a bigsymbol on election front andthat is none other than theIndian Armed forces. If youask questions, then the armypride would be brought infront of you and you will beimmediately tagged as ananti-national for questioningthe government on Army! You are not supposed to askquestions to the Armed forcesand especially the govern-ment because only the Armyand PM Modi supporters arereal nationalists but no matterhow much you love yourcountry or pay tax for yourarmy men, no matter howmuch you respect your armedforces, one question will putyou in integrity crisis! So, ifyou cannot win above Rama, you cannot win over IndianArmed forces as they arehighly regarded entity; unfor-tunately, the politics is beingplayed on them but neitherare they themselves realising, nor the public.

You will be hammeredwith adjectives like Proud,Chivalry, Country, Patriotism

and so on; in such trouncing, you will never dare to pose aquestion to the establishmentand the government that issupposed to be one of thecontesting parties in the 2019elections. Some of the BJPsupporters have becomeZombies. They follow blindlyand if you dare to pose ques-tions, then you need to beprepared to get haunted todeath by all means. Today’sdemocracy is living in sym-bolism. BJP using SurgicalStrikes, Uri Attack, Pulwama, and Abhinandan Varthamanfor political gains is loweringthe morale of the armedforces. The surgical strikewas conducted by the army inPakistan Occupied Kashmir(PoK) in 2016 in response tothe Uri terror attack where 19jawans were martyred. In2019 Pulwama terror attack, aconvoy of vehicles carryingsecurity personnel on theJammu-Srinagar NationalHighway was attacked by avehicle-borne suicide bomberat Lethipora (nearAwantipora). The attackresulted in the deaths of morethan 40 Central ReservePolice Force (CRPF) person-nel and the attacker. Theresponsibility for the attackwas claimed by the Pakistan-based Islamist militant groupJaish-e-Mohammed. The

attacker was Adil Ahmad Dar,a local from Indian-adminis-tered Kashmir and a memberof Jaish-e-Mohammed. Indiablamed Pakistan for theattack. Pakistan condemnedthe attack and denied anyconnection to it by asking toprovide proofs of its involve-ment. On February 26, 12Mirage 2000 jets of theIndian Air Force crossed theLine of Control and droppedbombs into Balakot, Pakistan.India claimed that it attackeda Jaish-e-Mohammed train-ing camp and killed a largenumber of terrorists, reportedto be between 300 and 350.

Pakistan claimed that theyquickly scrambled jets tointercept the IAF jets, whichdropped their payloads toquickly return over the Lineof Control. Many Indiansquestioned the authenticity ofthis strike. All those posedquestions, were tagged asanti-national but there was noanswer from the governmentor the Armed forces; howev-er, BJP took every credit totheir advantage. It is notabout morals and the rightand the wrongs. In a countrylike India, where Army playsan important role in everydaylife considering their contri-bution to fighting terrorism,we should support them in allways. They are the people

who lay down their lives toprotect us, it might be theirjob or they have joined itintentionally but how manyof us would die for a certainamount of money. Army mendo not give their lives formoney or fame but for thenation and the pride thatcomes with it. Unfortunately,BJP is a party which has doneMasters in taking credits.Since 2014, they have takencredit for everything goodthat has happened with Indiaand never accepted their faultfor any disaster they have cre-ated during their tenure. Suchincidences and our Armedforces are not of taking creditfor political gains. The matteris not about just BJP using itfor political gains but thewhole issue is that the politicshave twisted these crucialfactors.

I believe that such sacri-fice of army and security per-sonnel must be highlighted, but not for the benefit of anypolitical party and for theinterest of the country. Thereare very few news channelswhich really concentrate onsuch news but for others, it isthe game of TRP. IndianSoldiers deserve respect andhonour. The Media these daysacts as if surgical strikesweren’t carried out prior to2014.

Hem Raj JainAfter February 14

Pulwama suicide attack (inwhich over 40 persons ofIndian Security Forces werekilled by Pak sponsored mili-tant Jihadis), there wasalmost a consensus in Indiathat this time diplomatic, eco-nomic, etc. solutions wouldnot work and military solu-tion is the only option for‘teaching Pakistan a lesson’ aeuphemism for solution togory and chronic Kashmirproblem as per India. However, after February 28press conference of threeservices of Indian military, itis clear that military part isnow over without giving amilitary response to February27 Pak attack on a militaryinstallation of India (Godonly knows under whosepressure whether the USA orSaudi Arabia or some other).Hence, despite the drama ofputting up a brave face byIndia by saying that Indiaafter 1971 has first timecrossed LoC and IAF Planeshave gone to even Pak main-land for February 26 strike atBalakot, there is no result onthe ground. This is evidentfrom the fact that all the ter-rorist leaders are still free inPakistan and PM Imran Khanis still talking about nukes

when he said that neither henor PM Modi would be ableto stop the implications ofnuclear flare-up and manyPakistani leaders including aCabinet Minister SheikhRasheed of Pak Governmentis still talking in Pak NationalAssembly about Islamic-necessity of martyrdom byJihadis against India (asgiven athttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_Bd03jRrWQ ),hence India is understandablyin mourning. However, everything is not yet lost andthere is hope if India tries toeliminate the terrorism(killing of civilians) byJihadis from SAARC regionby realizing SecularFederation of SAARC (start-ing from Secular Federationof Indo-Pak) (as mentioned athttp://www.pakistanchristian-p o s t . c o m / o p i n i o n -details/3266). For this to hap-pen, India should understandthat (i) Killing security forcesis act of war and not terrorism(ii) Only killing non-combat-ants (civilians) is terrorism(iii) Rest of world is unrea-sonable if expects thatPakistan should not to usemilitant Jihadis for killingsecurity forces of India inKashmir with local support(an act of war by Pakistan for

militarily snatching Indianside of J&K from India).

India should also stopcalling attack at Pulwama,Uri, Pathankot, etc. (wheresecurity forces were attackedand killed) as terrorist attacksrather these should be calledacts of war by Pakistanthrough Pak sponsored mili-tants. India should also stopcalling Balakot strike as non-military and pre-emptivestrike rather it should becalled military and retaliatorystrike. Moreover, instead ofindulging in ineffective (andwithout any end-game)Balakot surgical strike 2 etc,India should mobilise itsarmed forces (army and navywith air support) on Pak bor-der and should demand PoJKand Jihadis like Hafiz Sayeed(for terrorist attack of killingcivilians in India and not foract of war for killing securityforces of India) under mili-tary ultimatum and then letworld community decide.

India should simultane-ously ask from world com-munity (led by the leader offree world, the USA) to gofor re-organisation/replace-ment of UN based on com-plete denuclearization (whereIndia will also hand-over itsnukes to this new UN themembers of which will be

only denuclearised and thedenuclearising SECULARStates). In this new UN thereshould be no veto power toany member rather should bevoting rights as per contribu-tion of men (including mar-tial) material (including mili-tary) and money and therecord of human rights of themember country. India shouldask this in the interest ofnuclear-threat-free-world inview of also the failure of thisweek’s denuclearisation talksbetween the USA and NorthKorea. India should alsodemand ‘InternationalPolitical Parties’ (IPPs) regis-tered at this new UN andMandatory Protocol MP-1 ofICCPR at this new UN inplace of existing OptionalProtocol OP-1 in order tomake this new UN success inthe interest of bringing peace, prosperity, and happiness tothe entire mankind.Otherwise, one more major(in a so-called minor inci-dence 5 security forces ofIndia have already beenkilled on March 1 also bymilitant Jihadis in Kashmiralong with increased shellingat LoC) suicide or otherattack by militant Jihadis inKashmir (who are not entire-ly under Pak military butunder militant-Islam too) will

render everything (whateveris being done by India) mean-ingless and absurd. It ishoped that India will under-stand that a country of 1.32billion people with growingeconomic power cannot (inthis age of globalisation)remain in peace unless it con-tributes commensurately forthe proper functioning ofglobal order. For this to hap-pen India should demand thereorganization/replacementof UN based on denucleariza-tion along with transitionfrom Theocratic States toSecular States of its membercountries without whichregional and global peace isimpossible [given the factthat Saudi Arabia (SaAr, thesponsor of 41 Sunni-NATOcommanded by former PakArmy Chief Raheel Sharif) isspreading Wahabi / Jihadimilitant ideology all acrossthe world on the strength ofits immense petrodollarswhich has empowered SaArto the extent that it is evengetting away with the brutalmurder of its citizen &Washington Post journalistJamal Khashoggi (in itsConsulate at a NATO countryTurkey) which SaAr admittedwithout explaining as to whathappened to the dismemberedbody of Khashoggi].

Stop scoring political brownie points on Jawans’ sacrifice

Mourning India should ask USA to reorganise UN based on Denuclearisation and Secularism

demands for proof of kill andstatements that patriotsshouldn't ask for proof, whether or not targets werestruck or only trees wereuprooted, is the conduct of themedia both sides of the border.Sections of the Indian televi-sion news media have turned‘warmongers’, studio warriorsdemanding Pakistan be taughta lesson, giving fodder fortheir Pakistani counterparts topit India’s militaristic inten-tions with a ‘peacefulPakistan’ narrative.

The “Republic” of Indiaregularly lines up “anti-nation-als” on prime-time televisionand asks them to shout ‘JaiHind” and “Bharat Mata KiJai”; and woe betide to the onewho doesn’t. A rival channel isnot far behind in being estab-lishment-friendly albeit itdoesn’t go to the extent of ask-ing for proof of patriotismfrom panelists representingopposition parties.Intemperate statements bypoliticians feed the frenzy andit’s a daily evening diet ofhyper-nationalism fed to view-ers.That is the Indian media, which have also been charged

with peddling “fake news.”But it’s their Pakistani coun-terparts, which are gettingaway with murder. For, lost inPakistani obfuscation is thefate of the F-16 pilot whoejected from his fatally-hit air-craft and then has not beenheard of since except in SocialMedia.

Pakistan’s DGISPR Maj.Gen Ghafoor wrongly, somewould say “conveniently”,identified him as “a secondIAF pilot” in Pakistan custody.“The other one is in theCentral Command Hospital,”the Maj. Gen. told Pakistanmedia February 27 to cries of‘Pakistan Zindabad’ from thejournalists.

It was only after IndianForeign Secretary VijayKeshav Gokhale clarified thatIndia “lost a Mig-21 Bison”and an “IAF pilot is missing”did Maj. Gen Ghafoor correcthimself and let the world knowthat only “one IAF pilot” wasin Pakistan’s custody. But didhe say anything about the pilotin “Central CommandHospital”? No, that he did not,and why not?

Neither did the Pakistanmedia ask the question, callout their DGISPR’s faux pas.

The Pakistan Army andPakistan media to date contin-ue to say that “two IAF air-craft” were shot down byPakistani jets on February 27.Pakistani media also chose notquestion Pakistan about theuse of F-16s in the counter-strike against Indian militaryinstallations.

Sadly, Indian media, exceptfor a recently launched week-ly, also did not ask the ques-tion: “Who was the secondIAF pilot?” The answer wasprovided in Social Media byPakistanis. The “second IAFpilot” was in fact a “PAFpilot”, Wing CommanderShabzaz-ud-Din, who on eject-ing from his stricken F-16landed in POK and was brutal-ly beaten up by civilians, whomistook him for an IAF pilot.Wing CommanderAbhinandan escaped a similarfate because of his “gun” andbecause Pak Army soldiersreached him in time, but notWing Commander Shahzaz-ud-Din. What happened next?Wing Commander Shabzaz-ud-Din is taken to hospital andDGISPR Maj Gen. Ghafoor istold that a “second IAF pilot”is in Pakistan Army’s custody. The Maj. Gen. jumps the gun

and proclaims to the Pakistanimedia that a “second capturedIAF pilot is in hospital.”

Wing CommanderShahbzaz-ud-Din is an unsungcasualty of war, whose misfor-tune is so great that he isn’teven named by the PakistanArmed Forces or his valourcelebrated by his countrymen. Two Wing Commanders ofrival air forces. One is a“hero”; the other is not evenrecognized as a “martyr.”Nothing extraordinary there,Pakistan has never shirkedfrom accepting the deaths ofits soldiers in wars if it suitsPakistan’s narrative.

But it’s the role of thePakistani media in perpetuat-ing the lie that has not beencalled out. Pakistani media, collectively and willingly, chose not to question thePakistan Army. Pakistan tele-vision channels and printmedia alike whitewashedWing Commander Shabzaz-ud-Din’s martyrdom. None ofthe Indian media-bashingPakistan media felt it incum-bent to do justice to WingCommander Shabzaz-ud-Din,one of their own. That proba-bly is the difference betweenPakistan and Indian media.

While most Indian media takeseriously the “independentmedia” tag, their Pakistanicounterparts steadfastly toe thePakistani establishment line, and Pakistan’s “national inter-est.” The few times, Pakistanijournalists have exposedPakistan’s lies, they have beenhounded and intimidated. Ithappened to Cyril Almeida ofDawn newspaper and TahaSiddiqui, who reported fromPakistan for WION. Siddiquiwas almost “disappeared” byPakistan’s ISI and is now anexile in France. Almeida con-tinues to be on Pakistan’s pass-port watch list and is “guilty”of getting Nawaz Sharif toadmit that Pakistan orchestrat-ed 26/11. But it’s the interna-tional media, markedlyPakistan-friendly, which arebeing questioned, media likethe New York Times andCNN, for asking probing ques-tions on how many JeM terror-ists were killed in the Balakotestrikes and if terror targetswere in fact hit even asPakistani media called for theNobel for Imran Khan and sec-tions of Indian media soldNarendra Modi to the Indianvoter.
