November 24, 2019 Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Page Three
Dear Sisters & Brothers in Christ, This is the end. The end of liturgical year, and it reflects the happy end of the history of salvation. The day when the kingdom of Jesus Christ will be revealed in its fullness. The kingdom of truth and life, the kingdom of holiness and grace, the kingdom of justice, love, and peace. Are the truth and life reflected in our daily choices and decisions? Are the holi-ness and grace in our dreams? Are the justice, love, and peace of any value?
If we say yes to all of these, we belong to Christ the King. To the One hanging on the cross. Be-side him were two convicts. It seems that both believed in the power of Christ. One of them saw that power as an opportunity to escape; like someone who could help him escape from a prison. The other recognized in Jesus the power over the whole world; the One who is the King of crea-tion. Jesus approached such two ways of acceptance many times during his public ministry. Some peo-ple saw in the multiplying of bread opportunity to have filled up stomach every day. Other recog-nized it as the sign of God’s Kingdom. Some people saw in the healing done by Jesus a good doc-tor. Other came to believe in His teaching. What we celebrate today in the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe is the joy of final victory of the Kingdom of God. The victory over the disgrace of the cross in the glory of the resurrection. The victo-ry of light of the truth over the darkness of the false. The victory of love over the hatred. On this Sunday of Christ the King, we also express our joy in welcom-ing new families who joined our parish in the last year. We welcome every person and every family. Please, feel at Our Lady, Mother of the Church like at home – where you can find peace, support, good nour-ishment, and people who enjoy serving the Lord. May God bless you, Father Andrew
Our Lady, Mother of the Church Mission Statement We, the members of Our Lady, Mother of the Church, are drawn together through baptism as a part of the Body of Christ. We are a caring Catholic community, working together as instruments through which Jesus, our risen Lord and Head, continues His mission. Linked to Christ as His Body, we believe that the risen Jesus still proclaims God’s word, gives thanks and praise, welcomes, nurtures, comforts and reaches out to all people. Using the hands and hearts of the members of the parish, with a growing sense that each of us is gifted and has an important part to play in our Parish, Church and World, we renew our call: ♦ to be a Parish diligent about Word and Eucharist, the primary source of our nourishment and spiritual growth... ♦ to be “missioned” - sent forth in the person of Jesus, to bring His Word and Eucharist to family, friends, neighbors and workplace... ♦ to reach out to the sick, the homebound, the persecuted, the lonely, the poor and the bereaved… ♦ to find time to share laughter, joy, friendship, at times, tears; and always to share the goodness of each other...

Mass and Memorial Requests While we try our best to honor all Mass Intentions, all Mass requests must be completed at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance due to various printing deadlines. Certain dates may not be available. Suggested donations per Mass is $10. Please note that the Bread & Wine requests fill-up quickly and we have some dates availa-ble for 2019. The suggested donation is $50 for the Bread and Wine. There are no Sanctuary Lamp Memori-als available for the remainder of 2019. The 2020 Mass Book, Bread & Wine and Sanctuary Lamp Memorials are now open.
All Mass or remembrance requests can be made in person at the rectory or by completing the Mass re-quest envelope that can be found in the Narthex. Please contact the Rectory for availability. Please in-sert your payment in the envelope and drop it in the collection basket or the mail slot at the Rectory. While we try to accommodate different situations, especially with our homebound parishioners, we can-not honor mass intentions over the phone. Mass cards are available.
Please be generous in this week’s special collection, which supports the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United States, one in six people live in poverty. Through this collection, you support programs that address the causes of pov-erty and provide a sustainable
future for people across the country who struggle. In addition, 25% of the funds we collect will remain in our diocese to fund local antipoverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collec-tion and work on the margins. More information about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development can be found at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection.

Saint Alphonsus Lig-uori said, “The sovereigns of the earth do not always grant audience readily; on the contrary, the King of Heaven, hidden under the Eu-charistic veils, is ready to receive anyone…. Nothing in the world can set hearts ablaze with love for God like the Blessed Sacrament. That is why this divine bread has been pictured as a furnace of Love. Saint Catherine of Siena saw far-reaching flames coming from this furnace of love and spreading throughout the world.”
