TOURNAMENT INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE

REPORT DATE: Wednesday JULY 10, 2019

A team representative should complete the enclosed Tournament Information Form (last page of this booklet) within 24 hours of qualifying for the State Tournament. The form should be e-mailed to District Information Officer at info@va8ll.org.

The Event Schedule is as follows. Activities will take place at the Azalea Little League complex. The complex is located at 1130 Pineridge Road, Norfolk, VA 23502.

Wednesday, July 10th

• 1-4pm: Team check-in Teams are required send in the Tournament Team Information Form found on page 20 immediately following their district championship game. Teams are to report to the Azalea Little League Complex on Wednesday, July 10th, 2019; between 1pm and 4pm. Teams are required to have the following at registration: tournament team affidavit book with medical releases (2 ea).

• 4:45pm: Opening Ceremonies Teams will be lined up by District and parade onto Senior field (field 1) for introduction, a brief Opening Ceremony will take place. Teams are reminded to bring their championship banners to the park.

• 6:15pm: Opening Picnic Complimentary food tickets will be provided for manager and rostered coaches and players of each team. For additional picnic tickets see page 21, Picnic Pre-Order form for details.

• 7:30pm: Pre-Tournament Meeting MANDATORY ATTENDANCE All tournament officials, managers, and coaches are required to attend.

Thursday, July 11th Tournament play begins at 9:00am.

GENERAL INFORMATION Playing Fields

Tournament games will be played at the Azalea Little League Complex, 1130 Pineridge Road, Norfolk, VA 23502 on Fields 3 and 6. Bleacher seating is available, but feel free to bring lawn chairs. No practice will be held on the tournament fields. However, we do have outdoor batting cages and other fields available, fields 2, 4, 5, and 7 for scheduled practice times.

Tournament Rules The opening picnic will take place on Wednesday July 10th at Azalea Little League, All

official Little League tournament rules will be strictly enforced throughout the tournament. The home team will occupy the first base dugout and the visiting team will occupy the third base dugout. All first round game coin tosses will be conducted at the Pre-Tournament Meeting held at Azalea Little League on July 10th 7:30pm. The winner of the coin toss will have the option of playing as either the home or visiting team.

Team Registration Teams are required to send in the Tournament Team Information Form found on page 20

immediately following their district championship game. Teams are to report to the Azalea Little League Complex on Thursday, July 10th, 2019; between 1pm and 4pm. Teams are required to have the following at registration: tournament team affidavit book with medical releases. Opening Ceremony The Opening Ceremony will be held at the Azalea Little League complex 1130

Pineridge Road, Norfolk, VA 23502, July 10th. Teams are to arrive by 4:45 pm to line up in District order at Senior Field (1) left out field fence gate. Once all teams have arrived and in position they will parade onto Senior (Field 1) for introduction, a brief Opening Ceremony will take place. Teams are reminded to bring their championship banners to the park.

Opening Picnic The Opening Picnic will be held at the Azalea Little League complex July 10th at

6:15pm following the Opening Ceremonies. Complimentary food tickets will be provided for manager, rostered coaches, and players of each team. For additional picnic tickets see page 21, Picnic Pre-Order form for details.

Pre-Tournament Meeting MANDATORY ATTENDANCE All tournament officials, managers, and coaches are required to attend the pre-

tournament meeting. The meeting will be held at Azalea Little League complex meeting room behind the concession stand July 10th at 7:30pm.

Pin Exchange During the Managers meeting that will be held on Wednesday, July 10th at 7:30 p.m.,

there will be a chance for all players to participate in a pin exchange. The location for the pin exchange will be at the Azalea Little League complex pavilion next to the concession stand.

Lodging Each team will make their own arrangements for lodging. A list of accommodations near

the Azalea Little League Complex is on page 12 of this booklet.

Umpires Approved Umpires will be used for all games. Rick Walsh will be the Umpire in Chief for

the tournament.

Equipment Each team is responsible for providing its own equipment approved for Little League

Baseball play. For any needs that you may have, there are sporting goods stores just minutes away from the field.

WARM-UPS Batting cages and practice fields will be available at the Azalea Little League Complex. The

tournament director will advise at the Pre-tournament meeting which cages and fields will be used for warm-ups.

Souvenirs A limited number of State Tournament t-shirts will be available for purchase at the Azalea

Little League Complex, on a first come-first served basis starting July 10th at 6:15pm and throughout the tournament.

Hospitality A Hospitality Room will be available for League Presidents, Umpires, State Officials,

Azalea and Fleet Park Little League Officials, and Volunteers only.

DIRECTIONS TO AZALEA LITTLE LEAGUE COMPLEX 1130 Pineridge Rd, Norfolk, VA 23502

FROM I-64 EAST:

Take exit 281B North Military Highway (RD 165) to East Princess Anne Road (RD 166) turning right. Proceed approximately 1 mile to Sewells Point Road (2nd stop light). Turn Left onto Sewells Point Road and proceed ½ mile to Pineridge Road. Turn Left onto Pineridge Road and proceed to the Complex. FROM Highway 58 / 460: Take 58 / 460 East towards Virginia Beach / Norfolk. Continuing on 58 toward Bowers Hill (right two lanes) and merge onto 664 / 264 / 64. 264 will be the shortest route but is a TOLL ROAD. EZPass or pay by plate. Highway 264. At the 664 / 264 / 64 Interchange merge to the left 2 lanes Portsmouth / Norfolk / VA Beach and continue to the Downtown Tunnel. Upon exiting the tunnel proceed straight and then merge onto 264 (right two lanes) east towards Virginia Beach. Continue on 264 until you reach Military Highway Exit 13 B North. Proceed down Military Highway to East Princess Anne Road. Turn left on East Princess Anne Road and proceed to Sewells Point Road. Turn left onto Sewells Point Road and proceed ½ mile to Pineridge Road. Turn Left onto Pineridge Road and proceed to the Complex. Interstate 64 West. At the 664 / 264 / 64 Interchange stay in the right two lanes and proceed toward Chesapeake / Va. Beach. Continue on 64 West toward Northampton Blvd. exit 282 A/B right two lanes. Once in the exit lanes you will be making a left hand turn at the light onto Northampton Blvd South. Proceed on Northampton Blvd South until you reach Sewells Point Road. Make a left onto Sewells Point Road and proceed to Pineridge Road. Make and left onto Pineridge Road and proceed to the Complex.

COMPLEX RULES

We want everyone who attends the tournament to have a good time and to cheer for their team and children. However, inappropriate behavior and unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. If a fan for one of the teams becomes unruly or abusive towards umpires, players, or coaches, they will be asked to cease their behavior. If they do not, they will be asked to leave the game area. If they refuse or continue their behavior, they WILL be asked to leave the complex. Norfolk Police will be contacted if necessary. We want this tournament to be about the teams and players having fun and to provide a positive environment to play. Please remind your fans that this is not the time or place to embarrass themselves, their district, their team, or their children.

• ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY: No drugs, tobacco, electronic vaping devices, or alcoholic beverages allowed in the Complex at any time.

• NO bikes, rollerblades or skateboards allowed in the Complex. Bikes are to be parked in the bike stand.

• NO rock throwing.

• NO playing catch or throwing balls in the walkways. NO climbing on fences or any buildings.

• All parents are responsible for their children and must attend to them.

• Parents are always an example for their children – Please be a Good One!!!

• EVERYONE is responsible for his or her own trash. Please use trash receptacles.

• NO playing of any kind in or around the parking lot.

• The use of air horns and artificial noisemakers is prohibited.

SAFETY AND EMERGENCY INFORMATION

With the tournament being played in July, expect days filled with heat and humidity. The average temperature is in the 90’s with 80% humidity. Please plan accordingly with plenty of sunscreen and beverages to stay hydrated. The Complex has limited shaded areas. First Aid kits are located on the complex at the Concession Stand and in the Press boxes.
