PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Welcome back!
Today we have had a fabulous day settling the students into their new classes and welcoming a lot of new faces throughout Years 1 – 6
into our school. We have many families who have come from out of town and it is wonderful to welcome them to our school community.
Our new kindergarten students will start on Monday and will spend today and the remainder of this week completing their Best Start
assessments during allocated time slots.
I appreciate the effort taken to ensure all the students are in correct school uniform, including black school shoes. This certainly reflects
the pride students have towards our school.
The school has been a hive of activity during the holidays with a number of changes occurring. We now have an all ability access ramp
into our school hall, allowing easy access for all students and community members, we are just waiting on the rail to be installed which
we hope will happen in a couple of weeks. We have also had synthetic turf laid around the arbour area and new paving. This will limit the
dust, prove a quiet area to sit and chat with friends and the instant ‘green’ is aesthetically pleasing…..it looks fabulous. Finally, we have
had new offices built in what was the old resource room. This has allowed for a new store room, Principal office and Assistant Principal
office, it too looks fabulous and will be very functional. Our two gates that need repairing, unfortunately were not completed in the holidays,
however, after a phone call to assets management yesterday, they will be fixed soon.
This year’s Welcome Back BBQ will take place on Wednesday 12th February. This is where families are invited to enjoy a sausage sizzle
and quick catch up where students will have the opportunity to introduce their family to their teachers. A return slip for catering and
invitation will be sent home on Friday.
Tomorrow is a big day on our school calendar for all students who are aged 8 or above at our school. We are off to the Oasis Aquatic
Centre for our annual swimming carnival. The weather is predicted to be 40+, please ensure your child/ren have a hat and sunscreen!
In 2020, we are looking at making a few changes to the newsletter and assembly. Firstly, we will be having the newsletter distributed
fortnightly with a basic one page reminder of dates and events on the odd weeks. Secondly, due to professional learning commitments
that usually fall on a Thursday or Friday we will be having a K-6 assembly every fortnight on a Monday afternoon commencing at 2:15.
Initially the assemblies will be carried out in our hall, however, once the renovations are completed we will relocate to the North Wagga
Community Hall.
Have a fabulous week!

WHOLE SCHOOL STAFFING This year again we have 11 classes. We welcome some new teachers to North Wagga including Mrs Belinda Kendall, Mrs Naomi Bryce
and Mrs Cara Blencowe. Both Mrs Kendall and Mrs Bryce come to us from Mt Austin PS and Mrs Leanne Herbert as Admin Manager,
who comes from Mt Austin HS. We’re sure they’ll enjoy their time at NWPS.
We have some teachers who are only working part-time, and therefore some classes are covered with a job-share arrangement. The
details of those, as well as the class names, are listed below:
There will be some teachers on leave throughout the year, but we will aim to minimise disruption to classes as much as possible.
Inevitably, maternity leaves, long service leaves and sick leaves are all part of the landscape in all work places, so I greatly appreciate
families’ understanding when these things impact on classes.
