Department of English

• English Curricula in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 provides:

• An integration of the four Language Arts strands: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking;

• A mix of classic and contemporary literature, including at least one Shakespearean work each year, poetry as well as prose, and works of non-fiction;

• Inclusion of research skills at each grade level with all students completing at least one formal research paper in grades 9-12;

• Alignment with New York State and Core Standards;

• All of our courses include some form of research-based instruction;

• English 12- All students will be required to complete at least two research projects prior to graduation.
