Dear Friends, Get ready to see a lot of pictures next weekend in the bulletin! 6 couples were married on Saturday and we also had our parish dinner dance honoring 4 wonderful parishioners. We will also be publishing the names of the raffle winners – maybe a picture too! Next month we will begin our youth activities again at St Bart’s. All youth will be invited to participate when they are able. Our program will include: • Weekly open gym for sport activities

• Weekly youth group meetings

• Fundraising for the Next

World Youth Day in Portugal

• Trips and fun activities outside of the parish

• Family events: family dinners, prayer days and conferences

We are blessed to have such a large amount of young people who attend mass here each week. As a parish family we are committed to assist and support them as they grow in the Catholic faith. Next weekend we will publish specific dates and times for some of the activities planned above. This weekend the second collection goes to support these activities and I thank you for your generosity. Friday, November 1st is a Holy Day and Saturday, November 2 is All Souls Day. Queridos amigos, ¡Prepárate para ver muchas fotos el próximo fin de semana en el boletín! 6 parejas se casaron el sábado y también tuvimos nuestra cena parroquial en honor a 4 maravillosos feligreses. También publica-remos los nombres de los ganadores del sorteo, ¡tal vez una imagen también!

El próximo mes comenzaremos nuestras actividades juveniles nuevamente en St Bart’s. Todos los jóvenes serán invitados a participar cuando puedan.

Nuestro programa incluirá: • Gimnasio abierto semanal para

actividades deportivas. • Reuniones semanales de grupos juveniles.

• Recaudación de fondos para la próxima Jornada Mundial de la Juventud en Portugal

• Excursiones y actividades divertidas fuera de la parroquia.

• Eventos familiares: cenas familiares, días de oración y conferencias.

Tenemos la suerte de tener una cantidad tan grande de jóvenes que asisten a misa aquí cada semana. Como familia parroquial estamos comprometidos a ayudarlos y apoyarlos a medida que crecen en la fe católica. El próximo fin de semana publicaremos fechas y horarios específicos para algunas de las actividades planificadas anteriormente. Este fin de semana la segunda colecta es para apoyar estas actividades y les agradezco su generosidad.

HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE AND MEETING: On Sunday, December 1st- 35 parishioners will leave for a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. We will visit many sites where Jesus walked and lived. Do you have a prayer intention? We will be collecting prayer intention on the weekend of November 23/24. Just write your special intention on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope. We will have a special basket in front of the altar of the church and chapel for you to place the intention in. For those ATTENDING the pilgrimage- you are invited to attend an informational meeting on Sunday, November 24th at 3 pm in the rectory.

MASS BOOK 2020 The mass book for 2020 will open for new

intentions on Tuesday, October 29. Masses are offered for those living or deceased. The offering for each mass

is $15. On Saturday at 5p.m. and 7:30p.m. we offer collective intentions which means we are able to take more than one intention for the mass. If you have any

BIBLE STUDY MONDAYS: Fr John Replogle, Sj is with us every Monday morning

after the 9 am mass for the praying and studying of the scriptures. Using the coming Sundays readings we prepare our minds and hearts for the week and also grow deeper in the knowledge of God’s Word.

INDONESIAN MASS On the 4th Sunday of every month mass is

celebrated in Indonesian at 3 p.m. in the chapel Following the mass there’s always a reception in Heafey Hall. The next mass will be celebrated October 27 at 3 pm. All are welcome to attend.

TAGALOG MASS On the 3rd Sunday of every month mass Is celebrated in Tagalog for the Filipino

community at 5 p.m. In the chapel (Ithaca Street). The next mass

will be celebrated November 17 at 5pm

BENGALI/BURMESE MASS These two communities gather on the

first Sunday of the month for a bilingual mass at 5 pm in the chapel. Following the mass there is a gathering with light refreshments in Heafey Hall.

The next mass will be celebrated on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3.

CHINESE MASS 我们高兴地通知大家：从十月份开始，每个主日

EVERY SUNDAY CHINESE MASS

We are happy to announce that starting October mass will be celebrated in Chinese every Sunday at 1:30 pm in the chapel and every Tuesday at 6:30 pm in the chapel. Our Catholic Chinese family is growing at St Bart’s and this is a great blessing for us. Fr Peter Ma has been working closely with this community and we thank him for his efforts and hard work. Our parish continues to grow- many languages yet one faith- brothers and sisters in the Lord.

NEED A LETTER FROM

YOUR CHURCH? In order to give letters of recommendation,

letters attesting to character, sponsor certificates, and other documents that may

have legal or religious purposes, it is required that persons requesting those

documents be registered and be active members of Saint Bartholomew Parish

at least three months prior to your request. We can not provide any of these documents to people not

registered in the parish.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION There are two times every Saturday for

confessions in the main church: 4 pm and 6:30 pm. Also Thursday at 6:30pm in the

Chapel. We now have two priests assigned during these times to make it convenient and

less time to wait. Please do your part…. come as close as possible to these confession times. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity

of God’s mercy and love.

VISITING THE SICK The priests of the parish will visit the sick in their homes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning this month. Just call the office to make an appointment for an English or Spanish or Bengali speaking priest. The priest will offer the anointing of the sick, opportunity for confession and holy communion. Of course in emergencies the priests are available at any time.

TRICK OR TREAT: This Thursday, October 31 is Halloween. Children going out to trick or treat after school should be with their parents and extra careful when crossing streets in costumes. Children are invited to stop in with their parents to the rectory office for delicious treats and gifts.

PARISH MINISTERS All ministers of the parish: Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, and Choir must receive VIRTUS training (protection of children). This training will take place on Sat, Nov 2 at 10:30 am in the school gym – Judge Street. You must register online for the training. Go to virtus.org We are the diocese of Brooklyn. Register for the training on Nov 2 at St Bartholomew. If you need assistance please join us on Monday October 28, 2019 at 7pm in parish Gym for a "Registration Orientation". This meeting is to show you how to register for the Virtus training. All ministers must be trained before the end of this year. NEW ALTAR SERVERS Would you like to assist us at mass on Sunday? We are always looking for more altar servers! We are having a special meeting for new altar servers this Saturday, November 16th at 11 am in the church! Fr Luis Gabriel and Fr Mintu will be there to register you and give you all the information about the training. Please come this is open to children who have already received the first holy communion. RAFFLE: Thank you to everyone who assisted in our raffle. Over $65,000 was collected in just a short amount of time. The drawing took place on Saturday, October 26- next week we will print the names of the winners as well as the exact amount of money raised.
