1.2 Using this document– Before operating the ThermoConnect,

carefully read and follow these Operat-ing and Installation Instructions as wellas the operating instructions for theheater.

– Hand over these Operating and Installa-tion Instructions to the next owner oruser of the device.

1.3 Purpose of the documentThese Operating and Installation Instruc-tions are part of the product and providethe user with information on the safe oper-ation of the ThermoConnect TCon2.These Operating and Installation Instruc-tions explain all the functions of the controlelement.

NOTEThe actual availability of these func-tions depends on each installed heater.

Carefully read through and follow theheater Operating and Installation In-structions and the safety informationcontained therein.

2 Warranty and liabilityWebasto shall not assume liability for de-fects or damage that are the result of theinstallation and operating instructions be-ing disregarded. In particular, this liabilityexclusion applies in the following cases:– mechanical damage to the equipment– installation by untrained personnel– failure to comply with inspection and

service instructions– conversion of the unit without permis-

sion from Webasto– Improper use.– repairs not carried out by a Webasto

service workshop– Installation without the appropriate

tools and equipment.

3 General safetyinformation

DANGERDanger of explosionIn environments with combustible va-pours, flammable dust and hazardousgoods (e.g., petrol stations, tank facilit-ies, fuel store, coal bunkers, timberyard or grain warehouses).u Do not switch on or operate the

heater.

DANGERDanger of poisoning and suffoca-tionDo not operate the heater in closedrooms that do not have an exhaust ex-traction unit.u Do not switch on or operate the

heater (also not with programmedheating start) in closed rooms thatdo not have an exhaust extractionunit.

DANGERDanger of fireFlammable materials or liquids in thehot air flow (air heaters).u Keep the hot air flow free.

4 Intended useThe control element ThermoConnectTCon2 is currently approved for the follow-ing applications:Switching Webasto air and water heaterson and off.The ThermoConnect TCon2 has an integ-rated GPS antenna and an eSIM (embed-ded SIM).

5 ControlYou can operate the air - or water heater in3 ways:– With the provided button.

– With the ThermoConnect app on a mo-bile phone.

– With the "My WebastoConnect" webpage.

6 Pushbutton

water heater.If necessary, the default duration can bechanged. See chapter 8 "My WebastoCon-nect web service" on page 5.

The illumination of the pushbutton is also astatus indicator:– LED does not light up - The heater is

switched off

– LED is blinking green - The ThermoCon-nect TCon2 is not connected, is search-ing for a network or is restarting

– LED lights up green - Heater is onUse of the pushbutton to restart and resetthe ThermoConnect TCon2 receiver.– Restart see chapter 6.1 "Restart" on

page 4.– Reset see chapter 6.2 "Settings reset"

on page 4.

6.1 Restartu Press and hold the pushbutton for 10 s.u Release the pushbutton.– The ThermoConnect TCon2 restarts.– The illumination of the pushbutton

blinks while the ThermoConnect TCon2restarts.

6.2 Settings resetNOTESettings reset performs the followingfunctions:Connection settings revert back to de-fault.Removes paired mobile users and userphone numbers.Removes all timers and location-basedevents.

Procedure for resetting to factory settings:u Press and hold the pushbutton for 10 s.

ENu Release the pushbutton.u Press the pushbutton 3 times while the

illumination of the pushbutton is blink-ing.

7 Mobile phone appNOTETo install the app: See chapter 13.1"Install the app on mobile phone" onpage 8.

NOTENot all settings can be controlled byusing the app. More settings are avail-able in the web service. See chapter 8"My WebastoConnect web service" onpage 5.

ThermoConnect TCon2 is controlled by theThermoConnect mobile app. It is operatedusing any network-connected compatiblemobile phone.

8 My WebastoConnectweb service

NOTEAll app settings are also available in MyWebastoConnect and will be synchron-ised automatically. Context-specifichelp for each setting is available in MyWebastoConnect service.

ThermoConnect TCon2 settings can becontrolled using the My WebastoConnectweb service

9 Mobile networkconnection

A mobile phone with the ThermoConnectTCon2 app is necessary to use the Thermo-Connect mobile app. For more informationsee chapter 13.1 "Install the app on mobilephone" on page 8. An active Thermo-Connect subscription is required to be ableto use this device. A subscription fee is ne-cessary.

9.1 SubscriptionWhen subscription period nears expirationa reminder will be sent to the ThermoCon-nect mobile app and / or to user E-mail (ifgiven in My WebastoConnect service).

9.2 Subscription renewalNOTEIf service subscription is not renewedbefore expiration then service will besuspended. To resume suspended ser-vice, a reactivation fee is applied.

Check and renew the current subscriptionin My WebastoConnect web service.

10.3 Installation positionNOTEDo not install the device in the greyarea as shown in Fig. 4.

NOTEThe vehicles with special glazing, suchas windscreen heating or sun protec-tion glazing, can influence the recep-tion of the ThermoConnect TCon2. Forvehicles with this type of equipment, itis recommended to install the Thermo-Connect TCon2 on the side of the in-strument panel.

10.4 Installing the unitu Select an installation place for the Ther-

moConnect TCon2:– Install the ThermoConnect TCon2 only

on flat surfaces to avoid bending of thecasing.

– Installation below dashboard, as high aspossible, on driver side is recommen-ded.

NOTEDo not disconnect the connector fromthe cable.

NOTEThe pushbutton must be installed.

NOTEThe pushbutton includes a temperat-ure sensor. Make sure that the air canflow around the pushbutton at the in-stallation location, but the pushbuttonmust be shielded from direct air flowfrom ventilation ducts.

The pushbutton has four functions:1. Switch the heater on/off.2. Acknowledge new users.3. Measure the temperature.4. Reset or restart, see chapter 6.1 "Re-

start" on page 4/chapter 6.2 "Settingsreset" on page 4.

u Plug on the ThermoConnect TCon2 wir-ing harness.

u Install the pushbutton at an accessiblelocation, a protected area.

– Make sure the illumination is visible dur-ing operation.

10.7 Compatibility with otherWebasto control elements

The ThermoConnect TCon2 can be coupledin the W-bus network with most Webastocontrol elements and always outputs the

ENcorrect operating status. (Available as fromNovember 2019, the receiver is updatedautomatically.) With the exception of Tele-start. Switching on the heater via the Tele-start does not result in the switched-onheater being indicated on the mobile or theweb-based app.

13.3 User managementMore than one user (up to 10) may use theThermoConnect TCon2. When adding newusers (see chapter 13.2 "Connect the mo-bile phone" on page 9), an identificationmessage is required from the new user. Ex-isting users receive this message as a noti-fication in their ThermoConnect mobile appand must confirm or deny a new user. Ifthe user gets a new phone and tries to pairthe mobile phone without access to thepreviously paired phone, the confirmation

ENcan be done with the pushbutton: Pressand hold the pushbutton for 10 seconds toapprove a new user.

14 Statutory regulationsgoverning installation

Failure tofollow the installation instructions and thenotes contained therein will lead to all liab-ility being refused by Webasto.

WEEE directive This productmust not be disposed of withnormal household rubbish.

Dispose of this product according to theapplicable rules and regulations. Informa-tion about proper disposal is provided bythe municipal authorities, the responsiblehousehold waste recycling centre and/oryour local distribution partner.

15 CE-declaration ofconformity
