It is also called a counting frame and is a calculating tool used primarily in parts of Asia for performing arithmetic pro-cesses. Students from Southtowns Catholic School took advan-tage of the weather and headed to Sturgeon Point Marina to clean the beach on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The same stu-dents grabbed their trash bags again on Saturday, Sept. 21 to participate in the Great Lakes Beach Sweep. They picked up Woodlawn Beach in the pouring rain. JANET R. SCOTT (nee Fierle)

Janet R. Scott,age 78, of Hamburg, NY, formerly of Eden, NY died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 28, 1934, the daughter of late Arthur and Ivy Fierle. She retired from Frontier Central School system as an Accounting Clerk after 20 years of service. She was known for her enjoy-ment of baking and cook-ing for her family, with everyone having their own special dish that she would make for them, also her en-joyment of arts and crafts. She had a fond love for traveling. A few of her fa-vorite past-times included casino slot machines and bingo. She was the devoted wife of late George Scott, the loving mother of Mi-chael (Dawn) Frew; Step-mother of Helen (Philip) Schreiner, Glenn and Law-rence (Kimberley) Scott. Stepmother-in-law of Ca-trina Scott. Grandmother of three grandsons and six granddaughters. Sister of late Ronald Fierle. Sister-in-law of Leone Fierle. Memorial service will be held Monday, September 30, 2013 at 1pm in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Eden. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lu-theran Church 3487 N. WILLIAM (BILL) ALLEN NEWTON

William (Bill) Allen New-ton, age, 86, of Eden New York died Sunday, Septem-ber 22, 2013. He was the beloved hus-band and best friend for 62 years of Constance (Miller) Newton. Father of William (Di-ane) Newton of Rochester, NY, Jayne (James) Walker of Eden, NY and late Ste-ven Newton. Cherished grandfather of Heather (Jon) Senchyna and Tracy Newton, great grandfather of James Senchyna. Sur-vived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Susan Franklin of Forestville, NY. Bill served in the Navy Reserves and the U.S. Army Air Corps in Oki-nawa during World War II. He was retired from S.M. Flickinger in 1990 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Team-sters Union 558 and the American Legion Newell-Faulkner Post 880. A Celebration of his life was held on Saturday, Sep-tember 28, 2013 In lieu of flowers, contribu-tions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Buf-falo.
