Our Tenby moto of moving from Good to outstanding is one I will be mentioning consistently. Our results are good and even outstanding in some areas however there is always room for reflection and development.

Home-school communication is essential and some new communication methods will start this September. New Information evenings for International Secondary Year groups will take place across September. Saturday coffee events and new Parent Forum’s once a term where parents can voice concerns and ask questions. We have also created Parent View Calendars on the Engage parent portal, so parents can see events a year in advance. You’re looking at new style newsletter twice monthly will be produced to summarise all events.

Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming weeks. My door is always open.

Social Media

Please follow us on our new social media sites on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, You Tube and Website.

Just type into search: Tenbypenang and you will find us.

Follow us and keep up-to-date with latest events and news. Newsletter

We would like to start a formal review of the newsletter, format and schedule. With the world changing and information being more readily available success celebrating to the community is essential. Social Media will be the main driver however a more formal newsletter is sometimes useful to summarise and reflect on events. Newsletters will be published every two weeks. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and You Tube the links are on our website. Parents Association

We have a very successful Parents Association. A new constitution has been drafted and we are currently pending the agreement for Registration of Societies. This will allow us to become a charity organisation and ensure all funds are entered into charity bank account. Please see website for more information and how to be involved. School Improvements

We have been working with Unifi over the summer to support a high speed fibre optic line. This will be ready for end of September. It will speed up many sections across the school including finance end portal systems. The sports hall has been sound proofed and enables us to hold assemblies and gatherings rather than use the outside basketball court.

All staff have been upgraded to Microsoft 365 accounts and eventually students will receive the same version. This is part of a group wide push to ensure we are supporting IT in the future. Upgrades include large amount of free cloud storage space.

The school has all internal walls painted and a 12 month painting plan has been put into action including all railings, front of school, classes and corridors but also will involve new look reception area and admissions office. I will be moving my office downstairs at the front of the school. New roofs and shelters have been fitted to ensure students do not get wet while walking down stairwells, we have fitted 4 new covers. New stairs have also been created at secondary pick up/drop off to enable students to walk into school without getting wet. Staff Training

All Tenby Schools Penang staff will be attending the Child Protection training on Wednesday 14th September at 15:15hrs. Therefore the campus will be closed from this time. Please ensure your children are collected on time as there will be limited staff supervision. We will continue to keep you informed on school updates.

Welcome back to the third term of the 2016 academic year. This is a busy term for students and teachers.

The UPSR assessment is currently being carried out. All our Tahun 6 students are sitting for the assessment. We wish them the best and hope they will do well.

Many other programs have been planned such as internal examination, school concert,” tanglung” night, awards day, Deepavali celebration and reporting for the end of the year.

Parents Teachers Meeting

Judging by the very encouraging attendance of parents and carers, the parents’ teachers meeting held last week was a success. A note of thanks to parents and carers for taking time out of their busy schedule to attend the meeting. This support and cooperation is essential for a better understanding of the student. This allows parents and teacher to work in tandem to help students to attain their best. The feedback received will assist the school to maintain or implement programs to make the school environment a conducive and safe place for students.

The report card is a periodic indication of a student’s academic achievement. However it might not represent the student’s best or worst potential. Report time can be very stressful for both student and parents. It is vital that students, who have tried their best but have not scored the expected A, are given a positive assurance. Use the report positively to help students improve themselves both academically and personally.

We started the celebration at 8.30 by singing the national anthem and the state anthem. Then, we welcomed our campus principal, Mr Iain Sallis, the head of national school, Mr Cheah Sin Hock and thehead of secondary school, Mdm Thum to say a fewg words.Following that, were some very entertaining performances from the primary school students. There was also a presentation by Shaun Yeoh from Form 4, highlighting Malaysians who have made Malaysia proud. We ended the celebration, singing patriotic songs, like ‘Keranamu’, ‘Jalur Gemilang’ and ‘Tanggal Tiga Puluh Satu’. It was a meaningful celebration that reminded us of the sacrifices made by the heroes of our country to fight for independence and freedom. We are indeed very proud of multi-racial and peaceful Malaysia.
