I'his house was the first home of George P. Cook, for whom this area ·,!as named. qe lived in the house u..11til the larger stone structure across the road was built (HA-16?).
Cook operated a tanbark mill and tannery here, as well as a country store.

DESCRIBE THE PRESENT AND ORIGINAL (IF KNOWN) PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
This stone and frame house is located on the south side of Earmony Church Road near the center of the area known as Cooksville. 1'he house faces north.
The stone unit of this home is two bays by two and two stories high. 7he frame addition is one bay in length and continues the slate roof's ridge line. A corbeled brick chimney is located at each inside gable end. Windows througho'.lt the two stone unit are six lights over six and have louvered shutter&. A one story shed roofed porch is located on the south side of the stone unit.
The frame unit is said to have been built in 184o and was drastically remodeled in the 1950' s. It contains a modern kitchen and bathroom. 1:/indows are no·.,. eight lights over eight.
A modern, gambrel roofed unit has been added to the west facade.
