A collaboration to enhance and share humanity’s scientific

understanding of the universe.

The American Astronomical Society (AAS) and IOP Publishing (IOP) have created a partnership to further enhance the AAS mission: “to share humanity’s scientific knowledge of the universe.”

Combining the award-winning IOP book program with the vast expertise of the AAS community allows specific subject areas to be explored in depth by community experts in the most fascinating areas of astronomy and astrophysics.

The AAS–IOP CollectionDuring the first phase of our partnership, all books will be approved and endorsed by the AAS Expert Advisory Board and published within the IOP Expanding Physics™ collection.

The AAS–IOP book collection will be simultaneously developed over the next two years to develop a dedicated collection focusing on astronomy, astrophysics, instrumentation, methods and technologies, celestial mechanics, astrometry, solar astronomy, planetary systems, stars, the galaxy, cosmology and related subject areas.

Why ebooks?

By creating born-digital ebooks, authors are able to fully exploit ever-evolving digital publishing capabilities. Multimedia and advanced features become an integral part of the ebook, offering an enhanced reading and research experience.

We welcome new book proposals in all branches of astronomy and are actively commissioning in these areas.
