A riddle-the life of a classic composerThis classic composer was a very famous composer and he had a very interesting life. He was born on 17.12.1770. First his father taught him to play the piano and to compose. His first appearance was when he was only seven years old. Then, at the age of eleven, he learned from C.G. Neffe to play the organ too. In 1784 he became member on the chapel of the court in Bonn. In Wien he was 1792 student of J. Haydn. Besides he studied with J. Schenk, J.G. Albrechtsberger and with A. Salieri. Another appearance was on the 29.3.1795. He played his concert for piano in B-dur. Then he became a pianist, teacher and composer. After that he stayed in Wien.

He has written many works. A few are still well-known, e.g. Fr Elise or Freude schner Gtterfunken. All in all the number of his compositions is 650 - in 57 years. The most of his works are compositions which are dedicated on important people. First he has just composed and hasnt had a job. But when he got a job in Wien at a salary of 4000 Gulden he accepted and stayed except a trip to Prag, Dresden, Leipzig and Berlin in 1796 in Wien.

This is a monument of the composer. It is placed in Bonn (Mnsterplatz), so in his place of birth.The way which made him interesting for me has been his illness and his death. At the age of 49 he was deaf! The deafness was terrible: He couldnt write anymore That has been the end of his career: He retired and didnt play anymore on concerts. When he got a liver and bowel complaint he died in 1827.

The composer who is in demand reached a lot in his life: For example he is called the completer of the before classic in Wien. Besides the Wiener classic reached by him its high point. He entailed a new form to compose.
