Dear Friends, Every year we eagerly wait to write this letter to share with you the exciting things that God is doing in us and through us because of Medical Missions Ministries. When we started this year we had great dreams and visions of what was going to happen. God has been speaking to us, and giving us the hope and assurance that He will make Guatemala not only a transformed country, but also a country that will be light to the nations. Every day, we get a better understanding that neither we, nor the resources that God has given us, exist for ourselves but for Him and for His purposes. In 19 years of Ministry, God has been speaking to us in three main and simple areas which have become our foundation — Friends, Servants and Witnesses. First of all, God desires that we have a closer walk with Him as friends, emphasizing that we do not live for our- selves but for Him. He has been quickening our spirit with the concept that we do not need to seek only for the assurance that when we die we will go to heaven, or the manifestation of His power in and through our lives, or the blessings that we get from Him like good health or material things. He says He wants us to have the desire to be with Him. Secondly, through the years God has given us different illustrations in our daily devotionals that help us to understand that He wants to use us as if we are ser- vants, being used by God without resistance or the objections of our rights. He has been clarifying to us that we are tools which he wants to use for His purpose. If you have been in Guatemala you might remember some stories, like the machete in the hands of God or the screwdriver in the hands of the Master Mechanic. It is hard to be used by God unless we are willing to renounce our desire of being in control, and to give up what we think are our rights; we must be willing to die in order that nothing gets in His way to work through us. We are like Gideon, though he was in fear and hid- ing from the oppressors, God knew what He had creat- ed in him; therefore, God called him “Mighty Warrior”. Thirdly, God has been speaking to us to be His witness- es. In Acts 26:16-18, God tells Saul of Tarsus that He had appointed him to be a witness to the Gentiles of the things he had seen. God wanted to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgive- ness of sins and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith. In the past, we have talked about the transformation of Guatemala, and asked ourselves how God was going to unfold His plan. Earlier this year, a friend invited me to go to Korea, a trip which was full of excitement, besides the quality time that I spent with my friend. It was a trip where God spoke to us and gave us a vision like the one He gave Abraham when He took him on a walk one night and showed him the stars. After Abraham had seen a sky full of stars that could not be counted, God told him, “Your descendants will be like that.” That is what God did with me, showing me that in 1957 Korea was an undeveloped country, but 31 years later, this country was opening its doors to the world through the Olympic games! God said to me, “I transformed Korea, I will transform Guatemala. I will take Guatemala from being a nation of darkness, witchcraft, idolatry and spiritual bondage, and transform it into a country that will become light to the nations; and I will send you and your people to those other nations to be salt and light to them.” Thank you again for your support from the bottom of our hearts together with all of our Guatemalan team — Dietrich, Hector, Ruth, Mario, Geovani, Uslar, Cynthia, Federico, and Carmelita. Thank you for joining us in the process of being tools (like screwdrivers) in the hands of the Creator and Designer of our lives to make His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Dear Friends,

Every year we eagerly wait to write this letter to sharewith you the exciting things that God is doing in us andthrough us because of Medical Missions Ministries. When we started this year we had great dreams andvisions of what was going to happen. God has beenspeaking to us, and giving us the hope and assurancethat He will make Guatemala not only a transformedcountry, but also a country that will be light to thenations. Every day, we get a better understanding thatneither we, nor the resources that God has given us,exist for ourselves but for Him and for His purposes.

In 19 years of Ministry, God has been speaking to us inthree main and simple areas which have become ourfoundation — Friends, Servants and Witnesses.

First of all, God desires that we have a closer walk withHim as friends, emphasizing that we do not live for our-selves but for Him. He says He wants us to havethe desire to be with Him.

Contact Brad Slaten to schedule — [email protected] Over 250 people from the States partake in ministry with

Medical Missions Ministries on an annual basis, doing over100 medical clinics in a given year. But did you know thatmuch more takes place than just medical clinics? In 2006…

• We had our annual Pastor’s Conference, teaching spirit-ual transformation to over 60 pastors and their wives.

• We hosted teams of businessmen from the States to teach seminars on micro enterprise to entrepreneurs at Showers of Grace Church.

• We provided over 1,700 bags of food to needy families through a partnership with Perimeter Church and Vida Real Church.

• We are beginning a program of outreach to over 175 widows and orphans from Trapiche, Jutiapa. The men in this village were brutally murdered several years ago. God is calling us to reach out to the survivors.

• We are helping to transform the community of Xetzitzi, planting a church there and teaching nutrition, agricul-ture and education to the people in this village.

• We are working with a project called Mana de Vida in Escuintla, a town known for alcohol, drugs and prostitu-tion. Here we are reaching out to the children of this town, providing them food, education and computertraining.

• We are helping to plant churches in some of the villages we minister in.

• We provided CD players to over 75 pastors so they can hear quality teaching and equipping messages. God also gave us a CD multiplier to make it easier to reproduce CDs for the pastors.

During 2006, two teams of business leaders fromPerimeter Church conducted Micro EnterpriseDevelopment Training held on-site to a selectgroup of members at Showers of Grace Churchin Guatemala City. A third team is scheduled togo back to Guatemala in January, 2007.

Those who successfully completed their marketresearch homework after Phase One were invit-

ed back to Phase Two held in September, 2006.Typically training started out each night with adevotion centered on “business is mission”. Theteaching team then worked one on one witheach student through translators and in-countryministry support teams to write marketing plans

and financial plans for each of the proposed busi-nesses. These Kingdom Business ideas include ahair salon, a security business, a car parts retailstore, retail beauty products, a marketing serv-ices company, and a copy service company.

Each business has a Kingdom Impact statementsuch as, “To be a Christian car parts store, beingsensible to the market needs of private and com-

mercial transportation, andsharing the Gospel with everynew client.”

After Phase two was completedlast month the in-country min-istry team led by FernandoZúñiga and Perimeter-basedtrainers assessed the potentialfor each Kingdom Business tostart based on the marketingand financial plans submittedfor review. Companies whoreceived the green light will beeligible for small, (usually nomore than $2,000) low-interestloans made available throughthe ministry. For more informa-tion about these companies andto learn about becominginvolved in this aspect of theministry, including the opportu-nity to bless these KingdomBusiness start-ups, please visitwww.gillna/bpikb, or call David

Pritchard at 770-945-0564, ext. 110.

Please be praying for these KingdomBusinesses, that God will use the hearts of thoseinvolved to advance His Kingdom in Guatemalathrough the marketplace.
