So, here are some common questions you can ask your child to help them be more independent problem solvers!:
What is the question? What information is given that is related to the question? Does this problem remind you of others you’ve solved? How will you start to solve this problem? Is there a picture or model you could draw that would helpyou understand the problem? Is your answer reasonable? How do you know?
Let’s go way……….back with some math
You and four of your friends had lunch at Busy Bee and the total bill was $58.22. One of the party only had a salad and water which was $4.25. The other guests had the special. How much did each quest pay for the meal?
Was the raise really a raise? An employee new salary is $25,305 after getting a 5% raise. What was the salary before the pay increase?
Will it fit?
Your refrigerator just broke and you need a new one. Off you go to home depot to get the refrigerator of your dreams. You see a whirlpool french door model 24.5 cu feet. Will is fit in your kitchen? What do you need to know?
