While that was certainly not my intent, it did create an imbalance in my life that has kept me from being, doing and having better in 2015…but not in 2016! I am certain some of these adjustments will be easier than others. I am certain there will be temptations to fall back into old habits and old routines. I will have to remain vigilant and have a persistent commitment. To do any less will be to rob myself of the opportunity of better in 2016. I will be asking for God’s help. I have prayed and sought God’s guidance in these changes. I will also be asking for your help. At Sunrise Church we are a team and if I allow myself to be run down and serve out of exhaustion I will be not only letting myself down, I will be letting the whole Sunrise Church team down. I am not willing to do that. What life adjustments are you praying about? What life adjustments might you need to move towards your “better” in 2016? How might I help you move towards your better 2016? We’re a team and I’m glad to be on the team with you. I want you at your best and I want to help you achieve your best in 2016. I’d be glad to pray with you and to talk by phone or in person to help you discern how you might reach towards your “better” in 2016. Give me a call or drop by the office! Happy New Year! Tom Newman, pastor

New Office Hours for the Pastor The Sunrise Church office is a busy and exciting place. Our preschool is a blessing to so many people in so many ways. It can also be a very noisy place. There will always be a need for me to have quiet hours in the parsonage office where I can plan worship and work on weekly messages. However, I also want to be readily accessible to each of you. I will be in the Sunrise Church office most Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 AM until Noon and on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 until 3:30 PM. I am certainly available at other times and always by appointment (please call/text my cell anytime from 9 AM until 9 PM: 919-884-6315). Some days I will have meetings out of town or commitments away from Sunrise Church. However, as a rule I hope to be in the office at these times (and others). Please feel free to just drop in! I would cherish an opportunity to get to know you better and to find ways we may partner together to make Sunrise Church a more vibrant outpost of heaven right here in Holly Springs!

Calling all Emmaus Graduates!

We need you! Please check your calendars and see if you can join us for a very important time on Sunday January 10th at 5 PM. We have arranged for sponsorship training and Al Siffer will be coming to lead our training. This is important: you cannot be a sponsor unless you have had training within the last 2 years! Emmaus works only when we share it and I would love it if each of us could sponsor at least 1 person in the next 12 months. An important first step is to get training so please come on Sunday January 10th @ 5 PM! ~Tom Newman

OPPORTUNITIES

We will celebrate Human Relations Day on January

17 with a special offering. Human Relations Day calls the church to

recognize the right of all God’s children to realize their potential. The

purpose of the day is to further the development of better human

relations. This offering supports Community Developers self improve-

ment programs, United Methodist Voluntary Services and Youth Of-

fender Rehabilitation projects. As a result, lives have been turned

around, communities revitalized and the gospel proclaimed. Your

gift to this special offering makes a world of difference!
