Lateral Training is a method of management education based on the creation of educational and training formats with the goal to bridge the individual psychology with the contemporary context, and to stimulate creativity as a tool for personal growth.

Each format is a story based on a great metaphor, with the sensitivity to intercept new languages, the awareness of businesses practices and the expertise incoordinate innovative training processes.

Lateral Training offers each customer a specific approach, the result of a reflection on contemporary, from art to communication, from cultural trends to social behavior.

Professional training is now radically changed. The success of new participatory technologies and the dazzling explosion of media and social media led to a rapid and unprecedented intensity in thetransmission of information, to simplification of the means of content production, which in turn favored the mutation of traditional consumers in active users (generating further contents). This confronts us with the need to introduce new methods of teaching and to support new learning opportunities.

It becomes necessary to discuss a very specific context:

What is complexity? What is reality? How do I perceive it? How do I move in it? What is change? Change as life project. Change and mental patterns. Change and emotions What are relationships? Relationship with others. Teamwork. Collective intelligence.

This first SET UP (which results in a series of specific seminars) corresponds to the idea of analyzing the possible SCENARIO with respect to different ACTIONS to be taken in defining a project of tailor made empowerment. Before a specific intervention for change, it is useful to frame the reality in which we operate.

It has been scientifically verified that concepts and theories, once translated into metaphors and concrete examples are easily transmitted from one individual to another. In some cases, such as literature or cinema, the advantage of the narration is evident: it is a language that ontologically belongs to us, and that is an epitome of our experiences, behaviors, actions, ideas, and values.

In some cases, experiences already lived are used as metaphors and, once shared, they becomeexamples of absolute importance.

As a metaphor, if we combine the goals of the educational purpose on the one hand, and personal, creative and cultural growth on the other hand, we can refer to a number of topics of primary interest today:

Visual Thinking - Think, plan, talk through images. The use of graphics, illustration, anddesign is an approach facilitating the analysis and supporting the development of ideas. It is fundamental for the individual growth;

Design Thinking - Applying a design-oriented approach to planning. Circumscribing theproblem, analyzing the components in depth, stimulating possible solutions and openings of sense,coordinating every step of organization. A method centered on problem solving and creative thinking;

Storytelling - Stories are a compendium of human life. They summarize behaviors, values, ideas, and changes. Through a story it is possible to suggest ideas for our personal and professional life.

CINEMA and TV series can synthesize the change of a protagonist, from an initial state to a final state, through a path characterized by behaviors, goals, choices

VIDEO GAME and ROLE GAMES, some excellent researchers in the U.S. (such as Jane MC Gonigal) have been studying for long time positive psychology and neurophysiology through the behavior of players

CONTEMPORARY ART, there are now many cases of application of artistic practices to educational format in the field of management. Specifically, contemporary art is a form of know-how.

Role playing, team building, simulations are not just a hobby, rather they have an educational function that could be decisive. It is now recognized that playing, for the vast majority of adults, is a great learning tool. There are many factors to determine this: paradoxically, the game has rules that are taken very seriously, stimulating people to feel motivated to put themselves on test.

Role playing, team building, and simulations also have the function to ease the tension, creating a moment of relax through the use of metaphors that keep the attention on the issues or objectives to be transmitted.

The game belongs to mankind since the dawn of our history. A game allows us to:

easily acquire new skills

ease the tension of the performance in an attractive way

work constructively with others

express our creativity and potential

enhance the motivational drive to competition and to achievement of goals.
