Sister Hay and I continue to feel extremely honored and proud to share your fellowship as your pastor and siblings in Christ. As we look back on the year just ended, we would like to thank you all for the outpouring of love, friendship, cooperation and support that you have given to us, thus making our tasks of lead- ership easier and more pleasant. God was, as usual, exceptionally gen- erous to us as a church family last year and for that we give Him all the glory and the praise, and we look to the future more con- fident than ever that we can trust His lead- ership and benevolence as we face the year ahead. 2012 promises to be a most exciting, even if challenging, year for our country and our church. Within a few weeks, we will welcome a replacement for Pastor Campbell who, although we still miss, we are overjoyed to see succeeding in her own pastorate. I am confident that whoever that replacement is, he or she will follow the noble tradition of the fine contingent of associates with whom The Concourse has been blessed over the years. The year will proceed with the usual departmental programs and other activities that keep God’s church going year after year. If we keep in mind that this is God’s church, not ours, and use the talents and means with which He blesses us to reach out to His “other sheep” and bring Him glory, we can be assured of His presence continued on page 2 Grand Concourse Seventh-day Adventist Temple 1275 Grand Concourse Bronx, New York 10458 Phone: (718) 681-2232 Fax: (718) 588-8832 Website: www.grandconcourse.org Senior Pastor - Allan W. • The children of Grand Concourse pre-sented their annual Christmas program, entitled “Three Wise Men and a Baby,”Sabbath afternoon, December 17.Parents, grandparents, siblings and otherchurch family and visitors listened intently, some with cameras and camera phones inhand, delighted to watch their own takingpart in the time-honored biblical story of thewise men’s search for the Christ Child.

Four stars narrated the story of thewise men, with a sprinkling of humor. Thestar who had guided the wise men, appro-priately named Star, was played by MikaylaMalcolm. Sparklet, a young star with aFrench accent, was played by VenusHilton, Glow by Malachi Mitchell and Twinkby John Diaz. The three camel-riding wisemen, Jayden Malcolm, Garfield Porter andTravaughn Rumble, made it clear theywould not be obeying the dictates of KingHerod, played by Demetri Smith. All wereclearly well prepared and excited about theprogram, including the other children whotook the parts of townspeople and shep-herds.

Sis. Ella Harriott, and assistantsWendy Smith, Letia Burton, Katrina Garciaand Jason Gooden, started rehearsals withthe children at the end of September, andvolunteers pitched in from time to time, including Danielle and Prudence Chase, who helped with decorations.

Congratulations, leaders and children!Your Christmas program is quickly becom-ing a can’t-miss annual event.Submitted by Sis. A. Slaughter

Sabbath, January 7, marked the long-postponed official farewell to our belovedAssociate Pastor Julian-Jones Campbelland Pastor Patrick Campbell. It was worththe wait. The weather cooperated beauti-fully, and many members were able to stayfor the 5:00 p.m. ceremony.

Two special musical numbers punctu-ated the long list of departmental tributes:a mixed quartet (Bros. Lloyd Mitchell,Neville Campbell and Cordell Anthony, andSis. Barbara Mitchell), and a solo by Bro.Trevor Bonney. Other contributions includ-ed a charming “Farewell and Goodbye”song from a young Junior A.Y. representa-tive, heartfelt and humorous goodbye com-ments by Pastor Hay, and welcome com-ments as to Pastors Campbell’s receptionin their new district, by Elder Alonzo Smith, who was a surprise visitor, along with wifeDr. June Smith. Afterward, fellowship con-tinued in the fellowship hall, with food andpersonal tributes, Pastor Daughma,English Ministries Director, also joining thefestivities.

The Campbells both spoke with affec-tion of their time at Grand Concourse, andassured the congregation that it will alwayshave a special place in their hearts. “Wewant to say a big thank you to our GrandConcourse family for their kindness andgenerosity,” they said. It is fitting that, through our shared laughter and tears, wewere all finally able to say a more properfarewell. Submitted bySis. Ann Slaughter
