Foliot • Modeled share reading activities in different classes and did funny heads with the students. • Is preparing the information for Principals for the Summer literacy camp to be held July 5th - July 16th. • Offered with Sandra Mellon a workshop on assessment at St-Lawrence Academy as well as I did some assessments of students for the Early Literacy intervention program. • Attended the Deen Meeting on the 24th of this month. • Visited a grade 5 class who implements Daily 5 as well as orchestrated a visit of two teachers from Orchard to visit a kindergarten class who implements this same practice. • Continue to work on the adaptation of La Trousse d’écriture with a group of teachers. • Attended a 2nd focus group meeting on running records. • In collaboration with a teacher, wrote their project for the Recog- nition Awards 2009-2010, des Livres en tête - La littératie en fête. http://esd.lbpsb.qc.ca/ L.Charlebois Participated in the revision of the MELS partnership agreement document Attended conference on curriculum Mapping in San Antonio, Texas Began presenting the Verdun LaSalle Literacy Support Project to administrators and school staff members With a team of consultants finalized the elementary exam schedule for 2009-2010 E ducaonal Services connues to be a busy department. We welcome the addion of Rosie Chiappea and Mylaine Cardin from Nutrion Educaon. We connued to implement and support iniaves from the Major School Change decisions such as, Français Plus, Literacy Iniaves, Work Oriented Training Pathways and augmented French in the High Schools. I had the honour to present at the QESBA on Technology at the Early Childhood level and we have brainstormed in looking at the next phase of the Digital Learning Project and creang a LBPSB Technology Plan. With the end of year quickly coming to an end, we are working hard consolidang the Complimentary and MELs exams. We have started to plan and train in bridging literacy and numeracy programs as a connuum from Elementary to High School. In conjuncon with the CPC, the High School Curriculum Networking Event will take place on the evening of May 6th, 2010. Michael Chechile

Physical Education P.Gilson

• Plans are underway for the annual Cycle 1 Cross Country Run in May.• Plans are underway for the annual Track and Field Tournament in June.• The Elementary Phys Ed. Steering Committee met on March

24, 2010 to discuss issues pertaining to the teaching of Physical Education and Health.

• 11 teachers will be attending a MELS High School Physical Education & Health Workshop on April 8 and 9, 2010.

• 10 teachers will be attending a MELS Elementary Physical Education & Health Workshop on April 21 and 22, 2010.

Arts P.Gilson

• Plans have been finalized for a workshop for our Music Specialists on the April 23rd Professional Day.

• Seven teachers continue to work on a PDIG grant in H.S. VisualArts and are applying for a new grant for next year.

• As part of an elementary PDIG grant three teachers will begiving an elementary visual arts workshop on April 30th 2010.

School & Professional Library, Culture in the SchoolsS. Nesbitt & R. Dixon

• Attended and presented at the 2-day MELS Action Plan onReading Library Personnel Symposium

• Continued automating Clearpoint Elementary• Assisted with book purchases for St Patrick’s Indigo Love of

Reading grant• Participated MELS Librarians Committee in preparation for

Information Literacy project• Worked on MSC and the Libraries• Chairing the Information Literacy Project, a project under the

MELS Library Consultation Committee.• Sunshine Academy’s online library catalogue is now available

through their school website: http://sunshineacademy.lbpsb.qc.ca• Met with High School library technicians to introduce Le Guichet

unique (cataloguing project with the BAnQ, MELS and MCCCF) • Participated in the MELS Literacy Camp Consulting Committee.

Pearson Interactive Community Partnership N.Battet

• Cycle one career awareness day held at Lindsay Place High

School, March 9, 2010. This is second in a series of four career

days. Professionals spoke to students about their careers in

accounting/finance, media, animal health, and engineering.

• Grade 6 career day held at Allion elementary March 12, 2010.

Professionals from the community spoke to students about their

careers which included: animal health, wildlife biology, graphics

and design, sports, law enforcement, medicine and teaching.

• Nancy Battet presented at Journee Regionale on the Guidance

Oriented Approach to Learning, March 19, 2010.

• Engineers without Borders career day held at McGill University,

Faculty of Engineering, March 25, 2010. 75 students from

Secondary sector attended the event to learn more about the

many careers in Engineering.

• Springdale elementary school represented the LBPSB in the

Youth in Philanthropy project where they were awarded a

$2,000.00 grant from CBC and the Foundation of Greater Montreal.

Nutrition Education R.Chiappetta & M. Cardin

• First let’s start by saying that we are very happy and excited tocome back to ESD!

• For nutrition month (March), we held booths in each of highschool cafeteria. The theme was "Flavours from around theWorld". Sushi samples were also distributed to students. Informative flyers on how you can add flavour to dishes, without adding salt (ginger, garlic, garahm masala, cumin,curry, coconut milk) , including recipes, were distributed to students.

• We took part of the “Addiction Prevention Days” held by Cityof Dorval and CUM (Dorval sector). We held a booth on EnergyDrinks over 2 days in March. Grade 6 students from Dorval Elementary, Jubilee, St-John Fisher Sr., and Bishop Whelan participated. Students were informed about the content of Energy drinks (caffeine and sugar), their side effect, and the potential risk of becoming addicted to them (caffeine content).

Ethics and Religious Culture N.Le Bihan

• March 25th, teachers attended the ERC Provincial Forum inMontreal.

• Poursuite du projet d’intégration d’éthique et culture religieuseavec le français au 2e cycle du secondaire.

Intercultural Education N.Le Bihan

• Rapprochement interculturel entre PCHS et l’école secondairede la Pointe-aux-Trembles de la Commission scolaire de la Pointe-De-L’Ile. Une vingtaine d’élèves sont venus rencontrés des élèvesd’origine indienne de PCHS, ils ont passé la journée ensemble lajournée du 22 mars. Ils ont visité un temple hindou à DDO et untemple sikh à Lasalle. Les élèves de PCHS se rendront à l’école secondaire de la Pointe-aux-Trembles le 12 avril.

Sex Education N.Le Bihan

• Attended a two-day workshop at EMSB on the organization ofthe sex education program in the schools, March 18th & 19th.

Science and Technology K.Davey

• Attended the ASCD preconference institute on CurriculumMapping

• Attended the National Science Teachers Association Conference in Philadelphia

• Finalized the end of year examinations for the secondary 4 optional courses Environmental Science and Technology (General Path) and Science and the Environment (Applied Path)

• Facilitated a meeting with Morgan Arboretum staff and LBPSBteachers to initiate the development of a partnership with theArboretum

• Planned units for term 4 with cycle 1 teachers at St. ThomasHigh School as part of a PDIG project on Curriculum Mapping

Mathematics F.Redivo

• Gave a presentation to the John Rennie PPO on the Secondary Math programs

• Participated in a MELS training session • Prepared for and chaired the MaST meeting • Participated in Career Day at Allion elementary school• Worked on the June Secondary 5 math exams

English Language Arts J.Le Blanc

• Visited all 11 High Schools plus the Alternative Center to support the Sec 5 ELA Uniform Exam.

• Released teachers to validate the MELS Progression of Learning for Secondary ELA.

• Field testing a new whole-class reading comprehension assessment at Westwood Sr. It looks very promising.

French M.Delsemme & M-È.Claude

• Finalized the five Evaluation Situations ( FSL core and enrichedprograms) created by teachers of LBPSB, ETSB, EMSB Boardsin collaboration with GRICS.

• Visited various French Departments in our HS and AlternativeCenters in order to provide them with training and information such as: MELS Uniform Exams, Scales of competency, Six traits

d’écriture, CPF Concours d’art oratoire, etc.• Held our Regional CPF Concours d’art oratoire. Some fifteen

students qualified for the forthcoming provincial on April 16th.Eight of them are Sec. 5 students and some of them might bechosen to go to Ottawa, on May 29 for the National.

• Supervised the creation of interdisciplinary LES’s by secondary 2nd-cycle teachers (Programmes: Français & Culture et Ethiquereligieuse)

• Resumed our project on Portfolio écriture en FLS (4th year ofexperimentation) with a group of secondary FSL teachers. Ifpublished according to timeline, final product could be used insome HS in the fall.

• Resumed our project on Portfolio lecture en FLS (2nd year ofexperimentation) with a group of secondary FSL teachers.

• Attended LCEEQ meeting as a representative of Pedagogical Consultants.

• Received training on Reading assessment.

Social Studies R.Riccardi

• Completed visits of high schools and met with cycle 2 teachers

in preparation for end of year.

• Attended MELS workshop on Sec. IV end of year evaluation.

• In light of new information that was shared at the MELS Sec. IV

workshop, I will provide a half day information session on how

to prepare students for the exam on April 26. Schools are

encouraged to send at least one teacher.

• Field-testing of a GRICS cycle 1 LES in History by 3 teachers.

• Developing a workshop with Luc Lépine, (MELS services à la

communauté Anglophone) for Contemporary World.
