Hello Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to wish a Happy New Year to all my students, faculty, non-teaching staff and all stakeholders of Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune. This year we had plethora of events like Vagmita, Avsar, Sports Meet, Milap, Ozone day & many are yet to come. The events that are organized in BVIMR are student centric and we consider our students as “The star of the events”. BVIMR, New Delhi has organized sports day to celebrate the birth anniversary of our honorable founder-chancellor, Dr. Pantangrao ji Kadam. We at BVIMR believe in sharing love and joy to the society and under

privileged and teach our students the art of sharing and caring. In echoing this thought, “Woolen Donation” week was organized where students, faculty and non-teaching staff also joined to donate woolen wears to the unprivileged people. Like every year students and the staff organized our most awaited annual fest Techspan-Renaissance for three days where students from other colleges also participated alongwith the students of BVIMR in different competitions. BVIMR always prioritizes its placement by creating a benchmark every year. Already 55 companies have visited the campus for placement & 100 students have been selected with good packages. I focus on my students for Being Visionary In Management &Research (BVIMR). I am sure this year ahead will follow many more events & activities keeping in mind the interests of our stakeholders. Hello Friends,

The new academic winter semester has begun making our BVIMR a second home for the newly admitted students in BBA, BCA and MBA. The enriched and fun filled 2016 coming to an end bestowed upon us with lots of experience, achievements for our institute, BVIMR, New Delhi. The year 2016 has much to remember and carry forwards to the next year. Our students and faculty members have brought accolades to our institute in the last quarter of the year by winning and participating in various inter college events and international paper presentations by our students and faculty members. It was an eventful and vibrant period of year where we witnessed some amazing academic and cultural activities.

We wish all the final year students who are edging closer to joining the corporate World which will be a big transition for them from being a college student to a professional manager of tomorrow’s world. At the same time we wish for success and prosperity of all the students for their new semester and hope that BVIMRites would continue to bring laurels to the institute.

SOCIAL CLUB INITATIVE: FOOD DRIVE

On 24th December, 2016 BVIMR Social Club organised a Food Drive Event on the Christmas eve for the under priveleged and orphanage children.

The college students were asked to bring home made food for the children, this event was conducted at the Moksh Ngo, Dwarka Sector 7. Students of the instituite who participated enthusiastically in the event brought variety of the home made food for the children, the food was distributed among the children by the students who participated in the event by themselves.

All students were wearing red santa cap as this event was organized during the christmas eve and the motive of this event is to bring home made to those children who cannot afford food and do not have a family. At the end of the day students had rich experience of spreading love amongst the small children.

WOOLEN DONATION CAMP 13TH -26TH JANUARY, 2017

BVIMR Social & Eco Club organized “Woolen Clothes Donation Camp” from 13th January 2017 to 25th January 2017 in Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Management & Research, New Delhi campus. Continuing its tradition of making a difference in the society with many social initiatives like Book Donation, Joy of giving, Blood Donation, BVIMR Social Club successfully organized Woolen Donation Drive inviting students, all teaching and non-teaching staff to donate their old, unused woolen clothes which will be distributed to street baggers and poor’s in the traffic lights.

“NATIONAL YOUTH DAY” 12TH JANUARY, 2017

Today’s era is calling to step and think out of the box where conventional and orthodox practices are required to be transformed through the wave of digitalization. It is the moral responsibility of every citizen of India to contribute towards the vision of “DIGITAL INDIA.” Indian demographic status witness larger proportion of youth in its population, so as it is important to connect youth.

In association with this, Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of management and Research, New Delhi celebrated “NATIONAL YOUTH DAY” to foster digital literacy through conversant masses to non-conversant masses. It is important and need of the hour to be float and fight by the tides of digitalization: A boom of Globalization where technological transformation has strengthened the pillars for the same.

One step ahead towards the Vision of Digital India is the major breakthrough again when Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced the debarring of 500 and 1000 notes. On a narrower kaleidoscopic view, it can be said that to outdo the black money from economy and to dismantle the black economy but demonetization has many folds which are yet to enlighten up.

Let the concept of digital India allow to give umbrella to the country's progression as cashless economy and can also be synonymous to digital economy.

The very true fact is that era of developing economy has not witnessed such concepts earlier so infusing the blood of the paper less economy through craving digital literacy by glittering the day called NATIONAL YOUTH DAY celebrated on 12 Jaunuary,2017. This day was a call for an opportunity to all the conversant who are using the modes of Digital payments method to eradicate the keenness for the same to all non-conversant masses so that every citizen of India is encouraged to connect to the Government through bank and thus a contributor towards using digital modes of payment. It’s really a proud moment where the youth on the "youth day" taking orientation session for the teaching and non-teaching staff of Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of management and Research, New Delhi.

Technology is the blessing that has been paved mostly by the youth so the moral responsibility lies with them to spread awareness through same and briefing about different modes like e-wallet, paytm, and briefing about the edging benefits over cash transactions. It’s also been the sound medium to convey the initiatives that those who do not have smart phones can use Rupay card. USSD can be used when there is no POS.

DIGITAL LITERACY CAMPAIGN

Bharati Vidyapeeth University Institute of Management & Research (BVIMR), an ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified institute, is one of the pioneer institutes of management education in New Delhi. BVIMR is a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, which is a NAAC reaccredited Grade 'A' University. BVIMR constantly strives for attaining its vision of “Leadership in Management Education through Innovation and Excellence.

In view of recent decisions of the Government, India is on the cusp of a major financial revolution due to which Ministry of Human Resource Development launched VITTIYA SAKSHARATA ABHIYAN (VISAKA) - a campaign for promoting a digital economy through youth volunteers from the higher educational institutions of the country.

To contribute and foster the concept of digitalization, BVIMR organized a campaign for promoting a Digital Literacy through faculty and students in order to create awareness among the youth and general public. The campaign covered various areas of Delhi where students actively motivated and guided to use a digitally enabled cashless economic system for transfer of funds.

The active volunteers and participants of the campaign ensured coverage of markets and nearby areas which involved interaction with shop owners, vendors, public etc. with an objective of acquainting them to adopt the new digital path, thereby promoting the shift from a cash-dependent economy to cashless economy. It was an attempt to ensure digital financial knowledge among people of all ages, so that we can grow and serve our bit to the growth of the country. Not only this, the campaign also promoted the use of cashless systems in all payments for faculty, staff and students. The students were further asked to educate their family members and people in their immediate surroundings and motivate them for digital transactions.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

The Annual Sports Day in our institute was held to commemorate the birth anniversary of BVDU’s Honorable Chancellor Dr. PatangraoJi Kadam. The college was fully ornamented with flags and balloons to create an aura which would imprint this delightful occasion in the memories. The Annual Sports Meet 2017 was conducted from 6th January’17 to 8thJanuary’17; at BVIMR grounds in New Delhi. It was a splendid and the most awaited event in the colleges’ timeline. There were total 13 games (indoor and outdoor) for both students as well as faculty members.

As per the stipulated day, date and time; a joyous bustling of more than 1100 students converged in the sports ground of BVIMR. Honorable Director Sir, Dr. Vikas Nath felicitated the coaches, addressed the students; followed by the National Anthem of India. The day was inaugurated by the coconut breaking ceremony and torch lightening. He spoke about Sports Day being the red letter day on the calendar. It is a day when the students are free from their classrooms to jump and run around free from the fetters of learning. He emphasized that success and failure is a part and parcel of life, what matters is participation with the right amount of zeal and competitiveness.

He also gave the students great insights about the hardships and ladder to success of Dr. PatangraoJi Kadam. He expressed about the efforts and struggle of BVDU’s Chancellor Dr. PatangraoJi Kadam, an 18 year old youngster, whose vision and pursuance of that vision, made BVDU what it is today; a world class management institute for social transformation through dynamic education. Today, BVDU has 184 constituent units under one banner – Bharati Vidyapeeth and imparting umpteen courses throughout Maharashtra and reaching other states like UP and Haryana. The events for the 3 day extravaganza were cricket, volleyball, basketball, badminton, carom, tug of war, legged race, 100 meters race, chess, table tennis, arm wrestling, darts, and shot put. These events kept on going for those 3 days according to the stipulated time and venue. The most awaited activity ‘zumba’ happened on 8th January in which all the students and faculty members unveiled their levels of flexibility. A very interesting cricket match happened between students and teachers, where the mentees won against their mentors! Moreover, the students of BVIMR became more tech-savvy and created a social networking event on Facebook through which more than 60% invites were sent to the students and faculty members of BVIMR. This event on Facebook was updated regularly with apprises, images and videos with respect to the event-sports meet.

VAGMITA

Vagmita is an eloquence competition which intends to encourage the skills and talents related to the art of speaking in public for the goal of sharing one’s faith and expositing from the word of oneself.

It was an intercollegiate competition. The judges enlightened and encouraged the participants with their words of wisdom. Participants from colleges Apeejay School of Management, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Janki Devi Memorial College, and many other renowned colleges actively participated in the competition.

The competition was based mainly on the current topics like demonetization, black money, national anthem in cinema halls, etc. The participants brought up very apt pointers and explained them well with real life examples giving tough competition to each other.

This event enabled the participants to come up and showcase their talents of public speaking and also made everyone aware about their view points on their respective topics. The judges at the end rewarded all the winners with certificates and trophies. Also, all the participants were given participation certificates for their efforts.

Enthusiastic students made well use of their general knowledge in the event Vagmita marking for a tough competition and a successful event.

MARKE IT

MARKE IT (“MARKE”, a German word meaning Brand) aimed to ace up the skilful thinking of students as marketers, by providing opportunity for the students to market a given product.

The event well managed by the coordinating team, witnessed participation from various off- campus colleges.

The competition kicked off with the brief insight about the college, relevance of the event and rules for participation. The teams, each consisting of two members were given a product to present it in the form of a brand in PPT. The products, related to objects like watch, selfie- stick, for which the team was expected to present it on the basis on contents such as strategy, budget etc. The time duration allotted for preparing the PPT was 1 hr 15 min.

The judge for the event was Dr. Aparna Marwah Bawa, Assistant Professor, who is associated with the college for past several years. The judging criteria included- Concept, Presentation and Audience connectivity.

Each team presented their product with great zeal and vigor, following which Dr. Aparna shared her views and appreciated the teams for their active participation.

MANAGEMENT LUDO

The event kicked off with full of fun and entertainment. The first round started with solving the crossword. There were 25 teams in the first round and each team comprised of 5 members. Each team allotted a time frame of 4 minutes. Out of 25 teams 4 teams were selected for the final round and in the final round the game played between the 4 teams was “Management Ludo” which was the very interesting game of the whole event. Various question related to the management were asked in the game. After that top 3 teams had been selected. The whole game was done in a time frame of 45 min. after that prize distribution to the students started wherein the teams were awarded with certificates and trophies.

RENAISSANCE’17 – TECHSPAN’17 – The Annual Techo Management & Cultural Festival celebrated from 16th-18th February, 2017 at BVIMR, New Delhi

Bharati Vidyapeeth University Institute of Management and Research (BVIMR), New Delhi, celebrated Renaissance & Tech Span 2017–the Annual Techno Management & Cultural Festival. It was a three day event successfully organized with great enthusiasm and triumph at the institute from 16th to 18th February, 2017.

Every year the event aims at providing a platform where students can showcase and discover their latent talents and abilities. It was graced by active participation of more than 50 educational institutes from Delhi & NCR in various events like The Broker Street, Mr & Ms Renaissance, Solo Dance competition, Paper dress competition, Group dance competition, Lan Gaming, Web Designing, Graphic designing, fashion show and many more.

The event started with lighting of the auspicious lamp as a tribute to mother Saraswati. It was followed by a warm welcome speech by student coordinators to all the dignitaries, the Chief Guest, students, participants, the audience and a welcome address by our respected Director Sir Dr. Vikas Nath. A brief introduction about Techspan and Renaissance 2017 was also given. It was a privilege to have Mr Ajay Kumar, National Spokesperson, Lok Janshakti Party, as our honourable “Chief Guest” where he enlightened the students with his knowledge and encouraged them to enjoy the fest with full heart and devotion. Mr Naresh Sharma, film maker and editor (Crafts Film School) was the “Guest of Honour”. He too shared his ideas and beliefs with the students. After that there was a dance performance by “Arya Kanya Gurukul”, (a girls K-12 boarding school in India formed under Neptune Foundation) which was liked and appreciated by everyone).

The event witnessed great sponsorships from esteemed organisations like DS Group, Metro Walk, BASF, ZIOX mobiles, Gold’s Gym, Adventure Island, TCI, Woosh, Pass Pass Pulse, Indian Oil, Cosco, Swastam etc., who contributed in making the event a great success.

RENAISSANCE 2K17

Renaissance, our annual cultural fest embarked its journey on 17.02.2017 with full zeal and enthusiasm. A two day fest which is organized every year in our college witnessed a series of events. These were Rangoli, Dumb Shall Act, Sur Sangram, Gully Cricket, Face painting, Broker Street, Shoot out at Rena, Geet Gata Chal, Tug of war, Fashion fiesta and the star – struck gala performance by well renowned singer Raftaar and his team.

Highlights of Day 1of the Renaissance Fest:-

1. RANG MILAAP:

Rangoli is one of the most enjoyable art one can be engaged in. After the inaugural of Renaissance on Day 1, the fest came to a boost with Rang Milap being the premier event of the day; inviting active participation from different colleges.

The event invited participation from 13 teams in all with more than 50 participants.

In this event, students were asked to make Rangoli in a team of 2-4 participants. The theme was disclosed on the spot and the participants were asked to bring their own materials.

2. DUMB SHALL ACT:

Dumb shall act is a word/movie guessing game. In the form most played today, it is an acting game in which one player acts out a word or phrase, and the other players has to guess the word or phrase. The idea is to use body and hand movements rather than verbal language to convey the meaning to another player. The event was conducted in the Amphitheatre of BVIMR campus. As such there were no judges, it was conducted by the core coordinators itself.

Participants: There were many off campus and on campus participants who actively participated in the event. A team of 2 participants from each Institute/College participated. Two minutes were provided to act and react.

The event consisted of 3 rounds:

1. In the first round, each participant was to guess the name of Bollywood movies. Top 10 participants who made a right guess in minimum time were qualified for the second round.

2. Second round was all about guessing the Hollywood movies. The top 5 participants were qualified for the third and final round.

3. Participants were given the name of web series in third & final round that were to be acted and guessed by participants. The team who took minimum time for same was declared as the winner. Total 24 teams participated in this event which included both off campus teams and teams from BVIMR.

3. SUR SANGRAM:

It gave an opportunity to showcase the singing talent which saw great participation of students from different colleges. Participants were asked to sing a song for 3-5 minutes. Maximum 2 entries were allowed from each college. Sur Sangram (The Solo Singing Competition) was held in campus auditorium.

Many talented students from different colleges participated enthusiastically in the competition and showcased their talent of singing different types of songs. The audience cheered up the participants, thereby enjoying all the performances.

Judges: Jugal Kishor, a renowned singer and live performer who has won millions of hearts with his soul touching voice and powerful demeanour. He has done masters in Vocal Music. Jugal is trained in classical music under Guru Vazir Ali Qadri of the famous Bhindi Bazar Gharana. He has been enthralling audience through many live shows across India since 2009. He has won various national level competitions like Sansui Antakshari on Zee TV, Yeh Mera India by Prasar Bharati and has also performed for Doordarshan Kendra Delhi in popular Tribute programmes for Mohd. Rafi and Kishore Kumar.

4. GULLY CRICKET:

Held in the basketball court of our college, gully cricket reminded the local game of cricket which was enjoyed by everyone. One team comprised of 4 members (3 boys and 1 girl). They were allowed to play for a maximum of 4 to 3 overs.

It saw participation from various colleges in large number.On an average there were around 155 participants. The team who scored the highest runs was declared the winner. The judgement criteria for the game was taken care of by the core coordinators of the event.

6. GEET GATA CHAL (ANATKSHARI):

It was one of the most enjoyable events filled with music and fun. The participants were asked to sing songs under the prescribed rules as per different rounds. There was an entry fee of Rs. 50/- per team.

There were 30 teams that took part in the competition.

Before entering the first round, each team had to go through an elimination round in which they were given a set of questions related to Bollywood movies and songs.

The first 10 teams who answered correctly in the quiz, made it to the first round called - “THE JEOPARDY ROUND”. Each team had to listen to the English translations of Bollywood songs which were in the form of short liners.

8 teams made it up to the next round named - “GUESS THE LINES”. Each team was given a chance to pick chits from a bowl. Every chit had certain phrases from Bollywood songs and they were given a 20 seconds time frame to guess the phrase and sing the designated song. There was no negative marking in this round.

Only five teams qualified for the last and final round - “THE MELODY ROUND”. The orchestra played the melody/tune of each song and the team guessing the song first had to hit the buzzer.

Judges- It was judged by Dr. Parul, Dean of Academics, BVIMR and Mr. Chaubey, Professor (BVIMR).

7. SHOOT OUT AT RENA (PHOTOGRAPHY):

Roger Kingsten says, “A Camera is a save button for the mind’s eye, so just FOCUS what is important, CAPTURE the good time, DEVELOP from the negatives and if things do not work out RETAKE another shot.”This event was held to find the best capture.

A team of maximum 2 members was permissible and the topic for the same was given on the spot. Each team had to capture faces, places & fancies in BVIMR campus and present it in the form of Power Point presentation. Teams were judged on creativity, innovation, storytelling and presentation.

There were two rounds. In the first round, the participants were given 12 riddles to solve and the answer to which were to be clicked as a picture from the campus. Top 4 scorers were taken to the next round where they had to pick a chit which contained different words on which the contestants had to click at least 10 pictures and make a presentation of it. Their presentation was judged on concept and artistic ideas.

8. BROKER STREET:

This event enabled participants to showcase their Marketing talent in "BROKER STREET where exchange of funds, ideas & strategies take place. Participants registered in a team of two. Teams were provided with virtual sum (amount) for the game on the spot.

It was a successful event which got participation of18 teams who did trading on shares. Participants were provided with a predetermined virtual amount of Rs. 1 Lakh where they were supposed to invest in virtual share market. Here, they could buy and sell the stocks during the time allotted with fluctuating market prices. After the duration, net worth was calculated using the final market price or the price that was prevailing at the last second.

It was a great event that boosted the stock market skills of participants and enabled them to grab great opportunities.

9. FASHION FIESTA:

This event attracted maximum spectators to view the eye catching fashion show. One team could have minimum 6 participants and maximum 16 participants including designers, choreographer and supporting members. Students performed whole heartedly on themes like stop sexual harassment, pink is the new black and comic book character themes etc. They did a fabulous job, by portraying a message from their theme and clothing & their efforts were appreciated by all.

Number of permissible participants in a team were 4-15 at a time on the stage. Four colleges from Delhi NCR participated and showcased a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Team Nazakat and Finesse, VIPS College were the most likable teams in the fashion show.

The event started at 5.30 pm where VIPS team –Nazakat begun the proceedings with a bang and got the crowd on their feet. People were left dazzled by their performance. The next team to hit the stage was BVCOE, IP university followed by another team from VIPS i.e. Finesse. At last, for the very first time, the fashion society of BVIMR - NAZARIYA performed with a cosplay theme which was immensely appreciated and loved by audience as it portrayed a glimpse of their childhood superheroes.

Judges: It was judged by Ms. Sana Dua, Femina Miss Style Diva (2016) and Ms. Aditi Sharma, a well-known model who has also featured in a music video with Guru Randhawa.

10. TUG OF WAR:

This event saw participants showcasing their physical strength and skills, thereby spreading the message of motivation and team spirit.

Number of permissible participants in a team was 8-9 where contestants were judged on the basis of power, team succeeding at pulling the majority of the rope over to one side. The competition was between 11 teams (8 Boys team + 3 Girls team) in which 5 boy’s teams were of off campus Colleges like GGSIPU, Marie College, University school of Studies etc., and the rest were from our college as well as from BVCOE. All the participants showcased their enthusiasm and power in the game.

Highlights of “Day 2 of the Renaissance Fest”:-

Yet again, the college displayed full zeal and hard-core energy on the second day of Renaissance Fest that saw the following events:

1. NUKKAD NATAK:

The day started with the Nukkad Natak (Street play), a platform through which various colleges showcased their talent and proved that dramatics club can have fans too! Various colleges participated in the event and their hard work was well reflected in their performances. It was then followed by series of events.

Judges: The judges for the event were Mr.Kapil and Ms. Tripti Tiwari.

Mr. Kapil is a renowned theatre and music artist, with over 25 years of expertise. He has conducted over 25 workshops and has 13 years of experience in enlightening his students about the art of theatre and music. Ms. Tripti Tiwari is an internal faculty specialized in Computer technology and she also takes care of the Dramatics society of our college,BVIMR.

The venue for the event was Amphitheatre of our college. The common call was made by the participants at 10:30 A.M. After the common call, the colleges participated in the following sequence:

2. SHORT FILM (DOCUMENTARY):

The event was held on 18th February 2017.

Number of permissible participants in a team was 4-6 in a short film. Registration fee was Rs. 50 per team for the event. Contestants were judged on the basis of their topic, story, relevance, acting skills & presentation. The competition was held between 7 teams in which 6 teams were off campus; these included teams from colleges like Moti Lal Nehru College, Deshbandhu College, and Bharati Vidhya Bhawan (Bulmim).

All the participants showcased their documentary giving a brief description about the same. The short films were quite influencing, relevant and of knowledgeable stuff (based on reality).

3. TAP UR FEET (SOLO DANCING):

The tradition of dance has been codified in the Natyashastra and a performance is considered accomplished if it manages to evoke a RASA (emotion) among the audience by invoking a particular BHAVA (gesture or facial expression).

Tap your feet was the solo dance event that took place on the second day of fest. Few rules of the event were-

Duration of dance was 2-3 minutes; any dance form was accepted.

Participants were asked to bring their own props (if required).

The participants were judged on costumes, choreography, expressions and stage coverage.

The number of participants were 25, both comprising of girls and boys.The vivacious dancers sat the floor on fire with their energetic performances.

1st Round comprised of Introduction and Ramp Walk. The duration for the same was less than 1 minute.

2nd Round- Talent Round

Here the participants showcased their talents in the best possible way they can to win the hearts of the judges (duration- less than 2.5-3 minutes)

3rd Round- Question and Answers round

It was like a rapid fire round where questions were asked spontaneously to the participants and they were marked on the basis of the creativity of the answers they gave. The questions were asked by the judges itself.

Participants: In total 24 participants, 7 from BVIMR and rest inter-college entries.After 1st round, 13 entries got eliminated and 11 faced the talent and question answer round.

6. DANCE UNITED (Group dance Competition):

An event which gave the students to showcase the dancer within them.Any dance form was acceptable. The participants were told to choose a theme for the same such that the theme should unfold itself through the dance choreography.

Held on 18th February 2017,the event started at 5.30 pm and it was Ramanujan College that begun the proceedings and got the crowd on their feet, all charged up. People were left dazzled by performance of MAIMS College as they stole the show with many popular Bollywood numbers. Northern India Engineering College, Shastri Nagar also gave a thundering performance filled with exuberance, right at the very end to give people a lift and give them something to remember. Last but not the least, our College’s team “Royal Army”led by Jugal Royal, gave the event a perfect finish with lifts and stunts that just made the spectators awestruck and left them asking for more!!

Participants:Number of permissible participants in a team were 4-15 at a time on the stage. 14 colleges from all around Delhi NCR participated and showed lot of energy and enthusiasm. Colleges like MAIT, MAIMS (Urban Hopper), NIEC, JDMC, Mata Sundari, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja Surajmal and others participated.

“Notable performers” were MMH college from Ghaziabad, Wild Dreamers Crew from BVUSDE, Gravity (Motilal Nehru evening) and Guru Nanak Institute of Management.

7. MIMIC TO LAUGH:

As the name depicts, it was meant to bring smile and laughter on peoples’ faces. Participants presented their jokes and comedy items within the allotted time. The event helped spread laughter via mimicry or mime as ‘Laughter is the best Medicine’.

The participants were from the BVIMR College itself and different other colleges. Team of five coordinators managed the event from deciding the performance order of the participants, managing time, maintaining the order and adhering the rules of the event.

Eight participants with their respective performance graced the stage. Each participant performed with zeal and abided by the stated rules. However, every participant entertained the audience in his/her own unique way. The duration of the act was maximum 10 minutes, along with setting up of stage. No vulgarity in words or actions was permitted.

All the winners of various events were awarded during this ceremony and were felicitated by trophies and certificates.

Marking the end of the day came the “Star Performance”by Gaurav Kumar-known as the “Voice of Delhi”, which thoroughly filled the atmosphere of the college with immense joy and melodious singing.

On the whole, the event was a great success. Everyone appreciated the efforts of the Coordinators, teachers, students and Media Society #Flash who did a commendable job in making this event a grand success, thereby giving us memories which will be green in our eyes forever…

1) Mergers and Acquisitions in 2016

Sony Corporation acquires TEN Sports from Zee:

Sony Pictures Networks India - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation announced the completion

of the first phase of the two-phased acquisition of “TEN Sports” from Zee Entertainment Enterprises

Limited. This acquisition was formally agreed on August 31, 2016. The first phase of the two-phase

acquisition of the “TEN Sports” was completed in a majority of the countries and territories where “TEN

Sports” operates, including India. An amount of USD 330 million was paid to Zee by Sony.

2) Byju acquires Vidyartha: Education venture Byju has acquired Bengaluru-based career guidance and academic profile builder Vidyartha for nearly Rs 50 Crores. Vidyartha's 20-member team will continue to work under a separate brand name post the acquisition. Byju, founded in 2007, has 3.3 lakh subscribers and 7 million in app downloads.

3) Wipro Ltd acquires InfoSERVER SA:

Wipro Ltd - India’s third-largest software services exporter, announced that it has entered into a

pact to acquire Brazilian IT firm InfoSERVER SA for $8.7 million to expand its presence in Latin

America. InfoSERVER is focused on the Brazilian market and provides custom application

development and software deployment services mainly to banks, financial services and insurance

companies.

4) Havells India acquires Lloyd Electric’s Consumer Durable Business:

Havells India announced the acquisition of Lloyd Electric's consumer durable business for an enterprise

value of Rs 1600 Crores. Havells will gain Lloyd's intellectual property, manpower and distribution

network. The deal is expected to be completed by March-end 2017. The revenue break-up for Lloyd

Electric's consumer durable business is: air conditioners accounting nearly 69% of business, TV panels

nearly 23% and the rest from washing machine & appliances.

5) Bharti Airtel acquires Telenor India:

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement with Telenor

South Asia Investments Pvt Ltd to acquire Telenor (India) Communications Private Limited. Airtel is

currently providing telecom services in India to over 269 million subscribers and a revenue market share

of nearly 33 per cent.

1) Kalyan Krishnamurthy appointed as CEO of Flipkart:

Krishnamurthy had joined Flipkart in June 02017 as the Head of Category Design Organization. He came over to the e-commerce giant from Tiger Global, a New York- based investment firm, which is also Flipkart’s largest investor.

2) Rajesh Gopinathan appointed as CEO of TCS:

The appointment came after the elevation of N. Chandrasekaran as Tata Sons Chairman.

3) Wipro Vice-Chairman T K Kurrien announced retirement:

In 2016, Kurein was elevated to the role of Executive Vice-Chairman along with the appointment of Abidali Z Neemuchwala as Wipro’s CEO and Executive Director.

4) Vishal Kaul appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Ola Cabs:

An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, Jivrajika had earlier served as Associate Vice-President and Vice-President of Ola Operations before taking over as COO in February 2015.

5) Suresh Nagarajan appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Reliance Power:

At present, Nagarajan is working as the Senior Executive Vice President of Reliance Power. He was elevated to the position of CFO by the Board of Directors at their meeting.

Blogging- An Alternative Career

In Today’s world, with magnificent popularity of internet and with the enhancement in the people’s mind-set regarding the growing opportunity career in the same sector is a commendable achievement in itself. In Today’s scenario, people are letting themselves out of the traditional mind set of becoming Doctors, Engineers, CA’s or those intellectual 9 to 5 jobs, but they are taking the risk of choosing their hobby or passion of being a singer, Dancer, Actor etc. as a career choice. With the widening reach of internet and having a user base of 373 million a new career is making its way known as Blogging.

Blogging is basically informational site or discussion site displayed on the web. It’s often a discrete information style which is written and post by an individuals or a group. The people who writes and post their respected issues on their blog are called bloggers. These bloggers usually write about their personal experience or their thoughts about an issue related to any topic like food, about any beautiful place or any new product in the market and the blog is updated frequently. The writing style of these blogs are short and simple, so that their reader get a fair ideas regarding the said issues. People like to read the blog because of this style of writing and they propose their thoughts in the comment section, letting the bloggers know about their thoughts.

Firstly, Blogging was used as medium of sharing thoughts but with the advancement of technology like YouTube. Individuals has taken blogging as afull time job. This is because if one has a good content and has good traffic (people), Goggle Adwords pays to the bloggers and many company too pays to promote or to write something good about their upcoming product in the market. Now a days many people who love and have passion for writing are not well pleased by their job goes for blogging. At first, it may be quite difficult to attract people towards the blogs, but with persistence, hard work and good contents attracts people.

It’s surely a unique, difficult but a lucrative job career.
