Day 7 – Victoria Services to Cardinham Woods - Overview of route A walk on minor roads running alongside the A30, skirting around the south of Bodmin and then on to Cardinham Woods to the east of Bodmin. Main aim of the day was to get around Bodmin town…. General directions : Head east along a minor road from Victoria Services, on the north side of A30. Briefly join the A389 towards Bodmin before turning south under the A30 at Lower Woon. Turn left immediately to join minor road to Treffry, running south of the A30. Head north-east up through the grounds of Lanhydrock House, crossing the A38 past the crematorium and on to Turfdown and the Cardinham Woods main car park.
Set off from Victoria Services roundabout at 11.20. A dry but cloudy day. Altitude : 493 ft. Followed the minor road running just north of main A30 for 43 minutes to next large roundabout. Then downhill briefly on A389 towards Bodmin before turning right under A30 at Lower Woon ( 368 ft and total 54 minutes from start). Turn left and sharply uphill on minor road running south of the A30 towards Lanhydrock. Reach Reperry Cross @ 495 ft. Time elapsed so far : 1 hour 12 minutes

Followed the minor road @ 481 ft past St Inunger Farm on the left. The Saints Way crosses the road a little later at another stone cross near Fenton Pitts. The road climbs up to high point of 513 ft past Penvivien Downs on the right, and then descends to Treffry Cross and on to the roundabout at Treffry (438ft). Traversed Lanhydrock Park from this point and emerged onto minor road leading up to the A38 on the outskirts of Bodmin town. Total walking time so far : 2 hours and 54 minutes, including a stop at the café in Lanhydrock park.

Cross the A38 roundabout and follow the road down to Turfdown, on to Margate Bridge (177 ft) and end the day’s walk at the car park in Cardinham Woods. Total 8.5 miles covered in 3 hours 32 minutes.
