SAEINDIA COLLIGIATE CLUB 2017-2018

GUEST LECTURE

SAEINDIA Collegiate club of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological

University arranged a guest talk on “Advanced Research and Education

opportunities” and “Research and Pedagogy” on 7th and 8th August 2017. The talk

was given by Prof. Shiv Gopal Kapoor, University of Illinois, USA and Prof.Suhas

Joshi, Head of Mechanical Department, IIT Bombay.Prof. Shiv Kapoor is the

director of many research laboratories which possess interdisciplinary research.

The event was held on 7th August, 2017 at Conference Hall from 3 p.m. to 5

p.m. The event started with felicitation of guests by Dr. P. K. Brahmankar. Then

both the guests delivered their talks on “Advance Research and Education

Opportunities”. The topic was aimed mainly for students. Almost 200 students

attended the program from all the branches.

On the next day, 8th August, 2017 the event started at 10 a.m. with the

lecture of Prof. Shiv Kapoor on “Research and Pedagogy” which was aimed

mainly for all Faculty members. The program ended with the publication of

SAEINDIA Collegiate Club DBATU magazine by the guests.




QUIZ LEAGUE 1

SQL TEST is a quiz competition arranged by SAEINDIA collegiate club,

DBATU, Lonere. It consists of three rounds.

First Round- It is a multiple-choice question round which consist of

aptitude and technical questions related to automobiles. It was a 50 marks test

consist of 50 multiple choice questions.This round was conducted on 21st October

2017.Top 10 students were selected for next round. They were grouped into 5

pairs.

Second Round- It is a question-answering type interactive buzzer round to

test their knowledge of history and latest technology about automobiles,

manufacturers etc. This round was conducted on 28th October 2017. Three teams (6

students) were selected for next round.

Third Round- This round consists of disassembly and assembly of machine

components. We recorded the total time of disassembly and assembly of

component of each team and selected one winner team who completed the task in

least time. This round was conducted on 17th January 2018.

CATIA WORKSHOP

SAE INDIA colligiate club held 1 day CATIA workshop on 17 February 2018.

There were total 26 participations from three classes of mechanical engineering

department i.e. First year, second year and third year. The workshop was

conducted in CAD/CAM lab of mechanical engineering department. The workshop

duration was from 9:00am to 6:00pm during which we covered following CATIA

modules.

2. Part design

3. Assembly design

4. Drafting

We provided hand on experience on CATIA software to the students. The event

was judged by faculty advisor Dr. R. S. Pawade.

TEAM TECHNOSPARK

Team Technospark, an off road racing team was conceived in 2015 by a

group of off-road enthusiasts in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological

University. The team participates in BAJA competitions organized by the Society

of Automotive Engineers.

Team Technospark participated in ENDURO STUDENT INDIA- 2017 with

23 students from Mechanical and Electronics departments. Team had successfully

completed the design phase and manufacturing phase. While designing the vehicle,

we have taken BAJA 2017 Rulebook as a primary consideration. While designing

and analysis we achieved minimum factor of safety of 1.5 for maximum loading.

Driver safety and drive comfort are the main objectives while designing. Design is

validated by using CAE.

To obtain variable transmission ratio we are using CVTech AAB CVT with

our customized two stage reduction gearbox. To change the stiffness and ride

height of shocks we are using FOX air suspension. Use of customized disk and X-

split brake system increase our brake performance. Steering system is designed

with Ackerman geometry to get oversteer effect. We aim to manufacture our

vehicle with accuracy to obtain high performance.

Finally, the Teamhas secured a 25th Rank in the Endurance Event, which is

4 hours head to head race. Also we were 15thin the Acceleration event. We have

secured overall 28th All India Rank in Enduro Student India-2017 which was held

at Coimbatore.

Inspired and motivated by previous accomplishments and glories, the team

has set out to a build a car that would set a benchmark for designstandards in India.

The team is mainly concentrating on making the carfaster, lighter and durable. The

team’s main agenda for the next seasonis to be once again the national champions

in Indian BAJA competitions and with that team is participating in e-BAJA SAE

INDIA 2018, which is aiming to design and fabricate All-terrain vehicle which

runs on electric motor. With the first attempt, we could complete the virtual round

with 31st position out of 40 teams participating for e-BAJA event. Team has

appeared for both the BAJA SAE INDIA 2018 Virtual Round. Team has designed

the ATV for just 140 Kg kerb weight, with that we could acquire 131st position and

is eligible for Ropar, Punjab event.

ELECTRIC KART RACING CHAMPIONSHIP

eNKRC event was scheduled in duration of 28thsep to 2ndoct 2016 at

Mohite’s Racing Academy, Kolhapur. The team of 20 students registered to this

event from our university under guidance of Dr. R. S. Pawade. We had time of 2

months to design and manufacture the kart. The rulebook of the competition was

used as a reference while building the kart. The first stage of the competition was

virtual round where we presented and submitted our design reports online on the

eNKRC website.

The next step was implementing the design in manufacturing the kart. The

complete manufacturing process took about 15 days to complete. Then came the

testing phase.

In the competition, the first step was to clear technical inspection which we

passed. Then we went for acceleration and brake tests. Other static events in the

competition included business presentation, cost evaluation and design

presentation. We cleared all the static events successfully. The Kart Secured third

rank in the final Endurance race. The Kart also got the ‘Best Design Award’ of Rs.

20000.
