The Facts, Please!

Since early Old Testament days, people used sweet milk, which they obtained from cows, sheep, goats, and camels. Since there was no refrigeration, sweet milk had to be used quickly. Sour milk was used in a curdled form similar to yogurt, which could be kept longer. Often it was mixed with meat and dried. Later, water would be added to make a refreshing drink. This was what the woman in our story gave the sleepy general when he asked for a drink of water.

The Facts, Please!

In Palestine, tents were used by nomadic people, shepherds, and soldiers. The tents were often made of a long piece of cloth that was woven from black goat’s hair. The cloth was stretched over a series of poles, and the two ends were pinned to the ground with tent pegs. The side and end walls were made of reed mats, colored materials, or worn roof coverings. There could be lifted up to let in breeze.

What can you do for Jesus?

God Gives each person talents and abilities that they can use to work for Him. He says, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). This doesn’t mean your hands only, but any part of your body and talents you have.

Activity

On a separate sheet of paper trace the outline of your hand. Then on each finger write one thing that you can do for Jesus. Sign your name below the hand if you will try to do those things.
