Getting Things Done: Delivering Resources and Neighborhood
Improvements to District Four!
Approving the Fiscal Year 2014 Budget, which covers July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014, was one of my first actions as your newly elected Councilmember. On July 30th, my Council Colleagues and I passed the Appropriations Ordinance (AO), the final step in the City's 2014 Budget Process. The AO defines the legal levels at which the Mayor is allowed to control operational and capital expenditures. This Ordinance governs the upcoming financial transactions required to conduct the affairs of the City throughout Fiscal Year 2014. You sent me to City hall to bring resources to District Four neighborhoods. I am pleased to report that I have successfully advocated for the inclusion of several key infrastructure and neighborhood improvements. With my vote, millions of dollars have been allocated toward the following District Four projects, bringing them one step closer to becoming reality:
New Skyline Hills Branch Library Martin Luther King Jr. Way Promenade Sidewalk repair and construction:
examples: Market St. and Kelton Rd. Bay Terraces: Parkside Greenbelt Lighting Webster Neighborhood Identification
Sign Installation of City-owned street lights SR-94/Euclid Avenue Interchange
Improvements South Chollas Landfill Improvements Holly Dr. Street Improvements Various Sewer & Water Group Jobs Oak Park Library ADA Improvements Kelton Rd. Pedestrian Improvements Undergrounding of Utility Lines: Paradise
Hills and Potomac Please note that the above list has been condensed. For a complete view of the City's approved Fiscal Year 2014 budget, please visit www.sandiego.gov/fm

PROJECT UPDATE: Promenade on Martin Luther King Street
Councilmember Cole assisted the Broadway Heights Community Council in securing $225,000 to begin planning the construction of a promenade on Martin Luther King Street. The promenade is currently in its planning stages. The coordinated effort of Broadway Heights Community Council, the Public Works Department, and Councilmember Cole’s office has allowed the project to develop successfully. A complete project plan and timetable for the construction of the promenade is expected to be released late September 2013.
