Born to a taxi driver in London's East End, the self-described "pink sheep of thefamily" became an apprentice for Savile Row tailors Anderson & Sheppard at 16.

After working for Romeo Gigli in Milan, McQueen returned to study at St.Martin's College in London.

His exquisite tailoring and inventive designs caught the attention of fashionlegend Isabella Blow who bought his entire student collection and became hispatron.

McQueen soon launched his own label and made instant headlines with a racy,theatrical collection entitled Highland Rape that included his infamous low-cut"bumster" pants.

In 1996 he was named the role of chief designer at Givenchy. The designer's potent mix of controversy, creativity, and technical mastery has

earned him three British Designer of the Year awards and a faithful celebrityfollowing (fans include David Bowie and Prodigy's Keith Flint).

With his continually provocative shows and outrageous designs, AlexanderMcQueen has solidified his reputation as the bad boy of fashion.

Born in 1976, Alice always had a knack for style.

She received her bachelor's degree in fine arts from New York University andafter continuing her studies at Parsons School of Design, she held various postsat Elle and Fashion Group International.

But soon it became apparent that fashion consulting was not satisfying Alice'screativity. Bravely armed with a strong vision, she decided to take a chance andset up her own design house.

Her clothes and accessories have appeared on the coveted covers and pages ofmagazines such as Bazaar, Elle, and Nylon and style bibles ID and V.

It's these qualities that helped her line gain instant market credibility; her first

collection was immediately picked up by one of the leading independent storesin New York, Kirna Zabete.

Her clothes can now be found worldwide in stores such as Henri Bendel, NewYork; Louis Boston; Beauty Buy, Paris; and Joyce, Hong Kong.

Alice was nominated for the Council of Fashion Designers of America'sprestigious Perry Ellis Award for Women swear in 2001.

SpadeSpade While growing up in Kansas city, Missouri, Katherine noel Brosna Han, now

designer Kate spade, was both the epitome and antithesis of the all-Americangirl.

Her fresh sense of style and singular personality reflect a keen sense of wit,propriety, and a no-nonsense approach to life.

After college in 1986, she took a job at mademoiselle magazine, leaving in 1991with the title of senior fashion editor/head of accessories.

While working at the magazine, Kate realized that the market lacked stylish,practical handbags and so innocently began designing her own.

She put together some sketches, investigated production costs, and created aline of classically shaped bags in satin finished nylon, as well as interestingcolors and fabrics.

With her fingers crossed, Kate, along with her partner and husband, Andyspade, launched "Kate spade handbags" in January of 1993. In 1996, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) honored Kates

classic designs by awarding her Americas new fashion talent in accessories. And for her home collection, Kate was presented with three prestigious design

awards in 2004: house beautiful giants of design award for tastemaker, bonappetites American food & entertaining award for designer of the year, and Elledecor's Elle decor international design award for bedding.
