Our ‘Clean Up Australia Day’ in Yeoval has been postponed to this Friday due to the rain last week.
Good luck to our Science and Engineer‐ing students involved in their challenges this week in Dubbo.

LAND LINKS BBQ: Though Thursday evening last week teemed with rain, farmers turned out in force to support Ye‐oval Central School’s Land Links program. The aim of Land Links is to reengage students with school and provide a practical format for learning skills for employment and values for life. An informal BBQ was held to introduce students and farmers and work out details of the program. It is hoped that in the near future students will work on local properties or with other employers for one day per week over a ten week period. Farmers talked enthusiastically about providing students with opportunities to acquire certificates through TAFE as well as work locally. Mr McLau‐rin and Ms Bugeja were thrilled with the response and thank all those involved.

VEGETABLES: EAT A RAINBOW EVERYDAY! Choose a variety of vegetables at each meal. Aim to have as many colours on your plate as possible: different coloured vegetables have different vita‐mins and minerals that we need for good health, so eating a range of colours will not only help you to be healthy, it will also make healthy eating look deliciously irresistible! Include greens (peas, beans, broccoli, spinach), orange (carrot, sweet potato), yellow (corn, cauliflower, capsicum), red (capsicum), purple (eggplant) ... the list is endless!

ACCESS CAMP 2013: Over 50 Year 11 Western Access students gathered at Lake Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre for three days of classes, sporting and team building activities. Numerous opportunities were made available to the students to build repour among themselves and their teachers. ‘WAP Camp’ marks the true beginning each year for the Preliminary course of the Western Access Program. By this stage students have finalised their subject choices, the video conferences with their teachers (Subject Coordinators) conferences have settled into the ‘two a week ’pattern and had ‘face to face’ time with their co‐teachers within their own schools. The camp sessions were either subject based or oppor‐tunities for students to mix and get to know each other. Primary Industries participated in a fencing practical, Visual Arts the skills of watercolour, Hospitality the fancy cuts for various fruit and vegetables, Biology ex‐plored the fossils collection provided by one of the Australian Museum’s ‘Museum in a Box’ – fossil collec‐tion. A sexual health session was provided by NSW Community Health workers from the Orange Kite St Clinic, Drama teacher; Rachel Cody trained teams in Theatresports who performed for the remainder of the students and staff later that evening. Sport and Recrea‐tional staff ran the traditional Star Wars game, a fa‐vourite for the last night as well as provided instruction and some fun filled experience in canoeing, archery, raft building, mountain bike riding and grass skiing in‐termittently over the three days. Thursday’s timetable included participation from the program’s partnership schools Mendooran and‐Coonamble whose students study only one or two sub‐jects. The camp has again successfully provided the opportu‐nity for students and teachers to establish a strong re‐lationship base for learning over the next two years, strengthening links between schools, staff and espe‐cially students who will need to work together and sup‐port each other to achieve their common goal of a HSC.
