Next steps for 2011

A350 XWB Programme has entered a new phase, from definition freeze to parts manufacturing and assembly, systems testing, FALstart and first flight.

• Extended enterprise to demonstrate efficiency and quality in the delivery phase.• Systems qualification to enable maturity at first flight.• Industrial ramp-up preparation:

– manufacturing process maturity for major parts (wing covers, keel beam, long fuselage panels)

– All plants to prepare component assembly and major component assembly and systems installation

– Preparation of FAL operations

• Having the right balance between time and quality is critical to secure the future

17

17

Programme risks

• Potential risks in the new phase:– Performance risks– New technology: manufacturing processes, machine and tooling

performance to be secured before launch of CAPEX wave 2– Tools and processes to the extended enterprise in delivery phase– Schedule risk:

• Ensure quality of first parts upon delivery to FAL• Ensure manufacturing drawings are on time and on quality• Supply chain on time delivery

• Buffer built in our ramp-up plan with regards to customer commitments and industrial capacity

• Challenges remain in the next coming phase, right risk management approach in place

Conclusion

• A350 XWB commercial success confirmed with new key customers– 35 customers, 573 orders and already 40% of market share in front of

787• Programme has made significant progress in manufacturing• Resources are secured• Key operational efficiency drivers under proactive risk management:

– Design stability and quality– Risk sharing partner and supply chain performance– Maturity of manufacturing processes– Schedule

• Programme target: entry into service in H2 2013

18

Next major programme milestone is FAL start in 2011
