NICM

Vision of the National Institute of Cooperative Management is

to create professional manpower relevant to cooperation,

management and computer specialization. The Institute

strives to provide innovative educational services of high

quality to enrich students’ learning, create employability

through skill enhancement and entrepreneurial abilities and

an impacting personality in the students. The Institute is keen

towards regular and continuous faculty development and

promotes research & development and consultancy in the

fields of cooperation, management, rural development and

computer applications.

Resultant to "Demonetization of high value currency notes", the

banks are now in very comfortable position as regards the

'low cost' funds are concerned. It is, therefore, right time for the

banks to build a balanced and policy-driven sound credit

portfolio by extending due finance to the needy sectors. Banks

should not lose sight of the enormous lending opportunities

grabbing which, indirectly, would also help achieving the

National Goals too !

Moving towards "Cash-less" and "Digital" economy, as per the

central government policy, may - in the initial stage, find some

bottlenecks. Complete theoretical knowledge coupled with

thorough practical exposure would certainly help a lot in

moving towards those goals in an easier and faster manner.

Our training programmes for the year 2017-18 are designed

especially to take care of the aforesaid priorities. I have no doubt

that all the co-operative organizations will endeavor to take the

best advantage thereof.

Managing Trustee’s Message

The job related technical skills alone are not enough for

excelling one's performance. We, at NICM, therefore, put extra

stress on developing certain core commercial skills amongst the

participants, so as to enable them to create high performance

culture in their institutions. Our training programmes help to

gain insight into the participants' own potential and develop

their cross-functional awareness. Through a mixture of powerful

techniques and proven methods, the training programmes help

the participants enhance their professional as well as personal

excellence.

The team of our senior and experienced faculty members is

committed to perform it's best under the dynamic leadership of

the Principal - Dr Lipsa Raval - having background of vast

exposure to the various branches of co-operative education and

management. Services of eminent personalities, in the different

areas, with rich practical experience, are also availed to deal

with un-traditional subjects and innovative matters.

Since 1995, National Institute of Cooperative Management is

dedicated to offer its services to the officials, executives and board

members of Cooperative Organizations. The objective is to provide

training to enhance their skill in the changing scenario.

In order to make the cooperative organizations face the challenges

and threats in present day’s competition, NICM takes care of

Shri Jairambhai Patel Institute of Management &

Computer Application

The Institute is offering education and training in the areas of

Cooperative & Rural Development, Management & Computer

Applications through its three Departments.

The center is fulfilling the emerging need of training by offering various

training programmes. More than 100 to 125 short term training

programmes for the officials of different cooperative institutions

(including State/ District Central Cooperative Banks & PACS and other

organizations such as RRBs, UCBs, Sugar Factories, GLPC and

Government Department) are conducted by this center and more than

3000 officials are participating every year and getting benefit of such

programmes.

The Institute is also approved as Junior Level Training Center to impart

training programmes for the officials of Long Term Coop. Credit

Structure (The Gujarat State Agri. & Dev. Bank), with the accridetating &

financial assistance from NABARD.

The Institute is recognized by Govt. of Gujarat as a Nodal Center for

conducting examinations & contact classes for Govt. Diploma in

Cooperation & Accountancy (GDC & A)

Management Development Programmes

Accreditation

For the purpose of capacity building & human resource development

various training programmes for different cooperative organizations are

conducted by this department. For this purpose training programmes

are conducted in four models as under :

On campus by inviting participants at the campus in Gandhinagar

with residential accommodation

Special programmes – designed as per the requirements of

sponsoring organization

On location at different places as required by client organizations

Over and above the short duration course, the institute also holds

one day conferences/workshops.

A “Centre for Professional Excellence in Cooperatives” (C-PEC)

established at Bankers’ Institute of Rural Development, Lucknow by

NABARD to improve the standard of cooperative training institutes.

This center is giving rating to the different cooperative training

institutes on the basis of the professionalism adopted and available

infrastructural facilities. NICM has been also accreditated by CPEC/

NABARD.

On Location Programmes

Knowledge Partner of Govt. of Gujarat

Apart from organizing training programmes for the officers and

executives of cooperative organizations, Institute is organizing

training programmes for board members of cooperative banks and

societies, Auditors, District Registrars of Cooperative Department and

for board of nominees on periodical basis. The institute conducts

study course programmes for CA/Auditors who are to undertake

statutory or concurrent audit of cooperative banks & societies.

The Institute has done MoU with Gov. of Gujarat as a knowledge

partner and organizing training programmes in the area of Rural

Development. The Institute has organized training programmes for

SHGs on Management, Accounting, Banking, Leadership etc.

Besides arranging in campus training programmes, institute organizes

on location training programmes as per the requirement of client

Activities of Consultancy and Expert Services

Global changes have also affected cooperative sector and in order

to prepare cooperative institutions in facing these changes, the

N.I.C.M. conducts various training programmes every year. On

similar lines, planning for different training programmes for the year

2017-18 is finalised as listed at the end of this brochure.

Cooperative banks and other organizations need consultancy

assistance in their day to day operational areas, legal areas, matters

relating to personnel management such as recruitment, promotions

and deployment of staff etc.

Library of the institute contains more than 35000 books on various

subjects e. g. agriculture, economics, management, marketing, law,

The Organization is fully furnished with educational equipments

such as LCD Projectors, Overhead Projectors, film projectors, T.V.,

D.V.D., in 2 Air conditioned seminar hall and 9 modern class rooms

providing comfortable and best environment for educational

studies as well as peaceful teaching process.

The Institution provides for independent, Executive hostel facility

for almost 200 trainees to cater the needs of the organization and

its management development programme trainees. The facility

consists of independent suits, conference room, dining hall and

The Institute is having 9 along with more then 300 computers

modern computer laboratories with LAN 90 nodes/terminals with

the students and participants.

Dr Lipsa Raval is a genius trainer, learner and researcher in the various branches of co-operative

education and management. She has at her credit more than a dozen eminent educational

qualifications of vital importance - in Co-operation, Banking, Accountancy, Law and Management etc.

She has done her doctorate in Agriculture and Rural management. As such, she is considered to be an

authority for the subjects she has mastered. The training programmes designed and conducted by

her - especially for empowerment of women, have evoked overwhelming response. She has presented

several research papers on the subjects of crucial values at various forums and has highlighted the

name of our institution not only in Gujarat but at the national level, too! She is, at times, invited by RBI

Shri D. B. GOTI is Graduate in Agriculture. He started his career from Gujarat Agriculture University as

an Agriculture officer. He has also served in The Gujarat Cooperative Oilseeds Growers Federation

(GROFED)on NDDB project as an area Manager, Assit. Executive,& Executive . His major service was in

The Gujarat State Cooperative Bank( GSCB) for more than 20 years as a Chief Officer in Agriculture

division of the Bank. During his tenure at GSCB he has guided to the PACS and DCCBs for

development of their business and compliance with Govt., RBI and NABARD etc. He has also provided

his service as a trainer in GSCB to train the PACS officials and DCCBs staff. His various initiatives have

been telecasted by DOORDARSHAN Ahmedabad. His areas of interest are project landing, agriculture

finance, non farm sector credit & agriculture extension.

and Finance. He has more than two and half decade of experience in Reserve Bank of India and

NABARD. In NABARD, he has rich experience in Development planning, Micro Finance and Bank

Supervision. Before joining NICM, he was the District Development Manager, NABARD, Mehsana.

He has specialised in Accounting, Bank Supervision and SHG.

Shri Mahendra Trivedi has obtained degree in Commerce, passed part 1 in M.Com. also cleared both

parts of CAIIB. He has worked in State Bank for more then 32 years and has got promotions from

clerical cadre upto Chief Manager. After his retirement, he has served as concurrent auditor in two

PSU Banks for 3 years (Allahabad Bank and Orinental Bank of Commerce) successfully. He has been

associated with major News Paper since 1991 and contributing his columns at regular interval. He has

been awarded “ Certificate of Excellence” in May 2011 by SBI for Excellent Audit Rating. He has wide

experience in the area of Credit Monitoring Cerdit Appraisal, Supervision, Audit and Follow-up of

advances. At present he has been writing column in “Gandhinagar Samachar” in the Title of “ JIVAN

UPAWAN” (weekly). Trivedi has also worked in GEB (as account clerk) and in High School as Commerce

Teacher before joining in the SBI.

All the programmes are organized at the Institute unless otherwise

stated.

Programmes announcement letters are sent to the concerned

organization at least two months in advance. On receipt of

nominations from the sponsoring organizations, a letter of

conformation of admission is sent to the participating officers and

nominating organizations. The officers may be relieved to join the

programme on confirmation only.

The programme fee as indicated in the programme announcement

letter is to be sent along with nomination form through Bank

Demand draft payble at Gandhinagar in favour of the National

Institute of cooperative Management, Gandhinagar.

Hostel accommodation is provided to the participating officers

only. Family accommodation is not available.

Reaching NICM Campus at Gandhinagar : Gandhinagar is

connected by Bus, Railway from all the major places in India.

The distanced from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar is 25 kms.

Gandhinagar is approachable by road from Ahmedabad where

Taxi / Auto Services and Buses are regularly available from

Ahmedabad ST / Railway Station. (about 15 kms from Ahmedabad

Airport). A relevant road map of Gandhinagar is given on the last

page of this booklet to guide the arriving participants to reach the

NICM Campus.

Location

The NICM is located at Gandhinagar, closed to INFOCITY and

opposite the Amusement Park (Fun World), Nr. Indroda Circle,

Gandhinagar. It is around 25 kms. from Ahmedabad Railway / Bus

Station and 15 kms. from Ahmedabad Airport. City Buses, Taxis,
