C&M Fridges

Fnet=0. The forces are balanced because they cancel each other out. It is not accelerating, it’s staying at a constant speed.

INITIAL MOTION- BEFORE

Fnet=0. The forces are balanced because the net force is zero. It’s not accelerating, it’s staying at a constant speed/velocity.

CONSTANT VELOCITY-BEFORE

OUR MODIFICATION

Imagine having a new and easy way to bring your refrigerator into your house with absolutely NO damage! With C&M Fridges, now that’s possible! Our fridges leave your floors fresh and untouched! All it takes is felt and a rope to pull the refrigerator inside your home safely. The fridge rests on top of the felt, to make sure that your floors do not need repairing.

As you can see here, the fridge (brick) is on top of the felt. We have a rope pulling the fridge. This innovation is very simple, yet affective.

OUR INNOVATION

Fnet=0. The forces are balanced because the net force is zero. The fridge is not accelerating because it is staying at a constant speed and the numbers cancel out.

INITIAL MOTION- AFTER

Fnet=0. The forces are balanced because the net force is zero. It is not accelerating because it is staying at a constant velocity.

CONSTANT VELOCITY- AFTER

OUR MODIFICATION

Was it successful? Yes, this innovation worked and left the floors in great condition! There wasn’t one mark left on the floor and the fridge stayed standing the entire time. Although this seems to simple, there is some science behind it all. The gravity pushing down on the brick let it stand firmly on the felt. The friction in between the floor, felt and the forces that made the rope pull the refrigerator, helped the brick slide nicely across the floor.
